Watching her perform this song is even more emotional because you can see how invested she is in this song as well as hearing it. Also, it drives home the point that she is not only the voice but, the accompanying music. It's a kind of duet with herself. I watch it almost every day.

I grew up in the county next to her's, but sadly, didn't find her on the local music scene until it was too late. She could do it all---from folk, to blues, to R&B and jazz standards. Best female vocalist I've ever heard in my lifetime. Gone too soon....😥

As a longtime Eva Cassidy fan, one of the things I notice about her songs is how she phrases them. In this song I find myself hanging on her every word as she takes me on emotional journey with her even though I already know all the words...Love to hear you react to 'People get Ready' and/or 'Had I a Golden Thread '

I agree - her phrasing is always ridiculously good, and especially on Over The Rainbow. It’s to the point where I’d rather hear Eva’s version of a given song over the original just because her vocals are so far beyond most singers.

Been listening to Eva ever since she was featured on an NPR program in 2000. This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. And since I've been watching a bunch of reactions this evening I've basically been crying my eyes out for hours now. Kinda cathartic, actually. I really appreciated your reaction, but even moreso your touching tribute to her beforehand. So sad she's gone, but so grateful she left so much beautiful music for us. RIP Eva.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! My ALL time favorite song as I am a HUGE Wizard of Oz fan and have even requested that it be played at my funeral some day. It touches my heart and this version is so well sung. Until I heard her version of this song, I never really related it to the emotional side of us, only a little girl with a wish. I'm 73 and a Christian, being floored with what this did to me the first time I heard Eva's performance. Very, very profound.

I recently discovered Eva Cassidy and was totally blown away. She's absolutely INCREDIBLE. Learning her story, cancer, and sudden death just makes it sooooooooo emotional listening to this song, and several other's including Fields of Gold, True Colors, Autumn Leaves, and many more. I can't believe the record labels didn't realize just how great she was prior to her death.

The Song over the rainbow is very high on my all time top list. I never thought that one Version of this Song come close to my personal favorite version of the beautiful Judy Garland. The version of Eva Cassidy is completely different but at the same time also very beautiful. Now i know 2 excellent versions of this Song.❤️ Thanks again Gordon for this enlightenment 👍😊
