Left St Pete early Monday morning. After leaving the city, no gas shortages & traffic was not to bad like it was with Irma. 75 had a couple of jams. Heading to Ohio to see family.
As someone who lives in Wisconsin but travels to St. Petes a few times a year, idk why anyone would move there. Very fun to visit, but it's hot, very expensive, super crowded.
Honestly if this hits half as strong as they say it will, the debris is the least of your concerns. 15 feet of storm surge is orders of magnitude more deadly. Gulfport MS Katrina ‘05. You’ll never forget the power of Mother Nature and what she can do with water.
I have been watching the latest about Milton. I saw a video of heavy traffic on I-75 from Tampa, Wildwood, and Ocala, Florida. I have friends that live in Avon Park, Middleburg, Orange Park, Jacksonville. I hope they are Florida is preparing for the worst again. Helene was bad enough. You're all in my prayers. Rock Haynes. Columbus, Georgia 🙏🏻✝️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
If you do do live on the coast but a few miles or more inland and not in a mobile home. Taking the necessary precautions to protect your home and have supplies ready then hunkering down and staying indoors until the storm passes is all you need to do. Too many people that meet those requirements are choosing to flee out of sheer fear and it is unnecessary. They are actually causing more problems for the community and making things much more difficult for those folks that really need to evacuate.
