The Japatul Valley Fire burned thousands of acres in the first day as firefighters worked in scorching heat to try and stop the blaze. The fire, which began around 2:15pm near the area of Spirit Trail & Japatul Road, has caused the evacuations and currently threatens the Sunrise Power power lines, which supply a large portion of San Diego County's electricity.
