First off, I am glad that Evan didn't get hurt worse. 2nd, I think yall did a great job with keeping the light tone but emphasizing the real dangers of working in an attic. And the YTer frame of mine is totally acceptable 😂 especially since this wasn't a staged thing.

I don't think it's RU-vidry to find a benefit out of a traumatic experience. I actually think it's quite an admirable thing to do because it's so easy to avoid reflecting on the experience altogether or ruminate on it so much the negativity intensifies (it also helps the benefit isn't just for you, it came with the intention to teach us not to make the same mistakes too to preserve our own safety). And while the entire "reflecting" thing aka talking about your feelings is a RU-vidry thing, it's also quite normal just for you guys to talk about your feelings to cope in your offline lives. Like you guys did that by going on your walks and finding the humor in the experience after talking to your parents. So don't be ashamed about getting more views or making your videos funny, it's just another way to switch the perspective on a terrible situation. Keep staying grounded guys, talk to your people (RU-vid friends and your overall support network) and I think you'll be fine. I can't guarantee that awkwardness of talking everything through on camera will change but I totally believe you guys will pull through :) thanks for another great podcast!

I think it was awesome that you guys let us see behind the scenes of the video where Evan fell through the "roof" because it's lets us learn to not make the same mistake again while being in an attic. Plus it was also really great entertainment. Btw even though Minecraft is 10 years old, it's still the best game I've ever played. It's simple, fun, and extremely nostalgic now 😂

As I was dispensing mothballs in my attic a few years back, I misstepped and plunged my right leg through the laundry room vent. I received a horrible, deep bruise that took months to go away. We “repaired” the ceiling (not a very good job). About a month later, a hired electrician was doing work in the attic and did the exact same thing I did. He wasn’t hurt but the company repaired the ceiling and did a very professional job. I told him I appreciated he making me look less like a fool.

I feel like Evans fall was very well edited into the video. It was a good idea to add it. The instant it happened I felt my heart drop. And then Evan looks up and back at the camera. Lol It made me laugh so much the way it was edited while being very concerned for him at the same time. Glad he was okay and was able to save himself from being impaled on the spikey pole.

I had fired up the E&K video without seeing the thumbnail (somehow), so I had no idea that the accident was coming at all! Definitely caught me off guard! I'm happy that Evan wasn't seriously injured, and I'm happy that you kept it in; it's important to cover the things that go wrong in a project, and I thought that it was tastefully done in the video, and that this podcast did a fine job of going through all of the related thought processes involved with both making a video and dealing with a problem of that magnitude. I'm glad that Lowe's was understanding and allowed it to be included; I think it is good for them to acknowledge hazards associated with DIY projects, because there are always opportunities for accidents to happen. For what it's worth, your gaming channel helped build my wife's interest in your other videos/channels! Seeing your personalities come through while playing video games endeared you two to her, so whilst the benefit of the gaming channel might not be readily (or monetarily) apparent, I still think there is a benefit!

My SO recently fell through the attic in the garage onto my car - she’s fine but it was scary. Glad you are OK. So now putting a floor up there has been bumped up on the TODO list. But need to wait until it’s not so hot outside.

I can relate to how you felt, a few weeks ago a shed fell on me... It was being demolished and the roof fell off, rolled and then landed on me. I got away with some gnarly grazes on the backs of my hands and a bump on my head. I felt very weird afterward, about how much worse it could have been. But I did get lots of sympathy showing people pictures of the injuries... :D

Omg Cat mountain is a brilliant idea. Even if you just work on a little bit each stream. It will indeed be a lot of work but worth it. Or even better idea wait until you start up the mincraft server and we can all help you build cat mountain.

I think its definitely something you should include. It shows the risk of not being careful and what could have happened. As long as you didn't do it on purpose just to get views then the benefit it definitely there to show people everyone needs to be careful when doing home repair. First of all Ive loved that gaming has become a part of your focus. I can tell you guys clearly have a good time with it and that is infectious! Keep doing those videos and streams I think its worth it in the longrun. I am a cross over viewer of both your making and playing. I enjoy making things diying and very recently 3d printing! I have a channel dedicated to "game room display ideas"my own weird little niche. But I have to go the other direction and do more diy and more making to keep my channel sustainable and also fun. I always find it kind of weirdly comforting too to hear someones views were dropping but they grinded through it. But I think if you like making things you tube is like a massively interesting untamable project that forces us to keep evolving and problem solving. Keep on kicking that projects butt!

Listening to this has been like therapy because I genuinely got a fright watching Evan fall and I needed to tAlK aBoUt My FeElInGs. It was good IMO that you showed it because you could have been so badly hurt and it's good to show people what can go wrong.

I could totally see that fall coming before Evan fell, right after he made the joke. It's something I would have done myself. But at least he was ok. I'm glad you left it in. You guys are all about real life DIY. It's not all Martha Stewart perfect in one seamless take edited to look that way. Besides weren't you working on the attic already? Just add ceiling drywall and popcorn patch to that list. That new shop vac from Lowes? Well now ya know how great it works! You learn from each mistake.

I was shook when you mentioned Minecraft because I had been playing the entire time I watched this. :p

They were shock bruising, and only soft tissue damage, when I got taken off my MC by a taxi, I haematomied my complete thigh instantaneously, it was black from the ruptured blood vessels and muscle. Oh and I had a broken lower leg but didn't know at the time until three days later, and foolishly I worked on it for there days, three night's with heavy pressure on the break. But got lucky till the Saturday morning and the grumpy radiologist, that's another story. Oh and the road rash that was infected and the Dr ripped off the feck off large plaster and hairs have never grown back. Life is about life n death experiences and some things are out of your control and if we stopped doing things after an accident, then we wouldn't travel the seas and skies or make anything.

I'm thankful for Evan's mic cable, because It helped me realize that you weren't REALLY sitting there in front of the actual hole in the ceiling recording a podcast...

Here is the line: If you are putting yourself at risk intentionally to get views, that is bad. If you have bad things happen, and you can use it to get views, you might as well get the views.

First thing before doing any construction job. Consider safety and protect yourself. Around the time you were falling through the ceiling, I was unscrewing something while on a step stool. I had the step stool turned sideways. As I leaned into the screw to unscrew it, the step stool went out from under me, I fell, and my sternum hit squarely on the corner of the washing machine. I laid on the floor in tremendous pain. I thought I might have broken ribs or sternum, and might spit up blood. After feeling around, I discovered no broken bones or blood. However, my chest hurt tremendously. For the next month, I could not sleep in a bed or on my side. Sneezing or coughing caused intense acute pain. The moral of the story. Do as I say not as I did. Probably my chest ony traveled 3' to the corner of the washing machine. Any further and I might not be here writing this.

I honestly think it was a good move to include the fall footage. I'm very glad you are OK, but I laughed soo hard xD But seriously, I think including the shortcomings, and mishaps make your videos more authentic. The level that you included it, and "capitalized" on it (via use of thumbnails, etc) was just enough to drive the message home without being disingenuous. You DID mention about how to be careful, but obviously, being tired, hot, and overworked can cause you to let your guard down and make mistakes. It happens to everyone. I'm glad you were able to overcome it, and share your experience with others =]

It wasn't morbid or anything, but it was something that people should be very cautious of and you guys showed that it was something that could happen and it should be treated seriously. Also it was fun hearing Katelyn yelling out "Sh*beep*t!" which I also assume was "Shoot!" I actually couldn't tell what was going on in the thumbnail. Just saw Evan looking at the camera weirdly. Maybe a thumb of the hole form the bottom like you guys had in your background. But that's, you know...spoilers lol

Hey Katelyn!! If you enjoy sandbox games with a set goal at then end, I reckon you might enjoy terraria a bit! It is a teeny bit like Minecraft, but a lot more freedom, even though it is 2d! As you progress through the game you definitely feel a sense of... Well, progression!! It also has different classes you can choose, and can be multiplayer!! (Although I am not sure if you can do split screen on it) I reckon you might enjoy it!

@Evan&Katelyn Hey! :3 If you have Minecraft on your mind, what about craft some Minecraft blocks with magnets. So you can have a build your own house or garden on your desk, with Minecraft blocks. Think about a tiny Minecraft house with magnetic blocks, that you can change and build with? Wood blocks, grass blocks, stone blocks, glass blocks and so on? Maybe 3D-printet and wood? :3

I once had a loft ladder collapse while I was mid step..it stayed in teatering position barely touching the rotton beam it had previously been screwed too but all my weight was crushing my left foot between rungs because it was a telescopic ladder.. so I had to try and hang in the trapdoor hole..I don't recommend it (my partner at the time was able to free me and remove the ladder so I could drop down...suprised I didnt break a leg tbh. I also look forward to Cat Mountain in minecraft.. have had family try to get me interested in the game but it never struck me .. however I love watching you guys play as its so entertaining..looking forward to the next chapter of little nightmares too!

When I was a senior in high school, one day after school, I walked up the steps to the front door of my house -- but this time my dad dropped a bucket of water on my head, from upstairs, out of the clear blue, for no good reason. He had a strange sense of humor. I calmly put my school books down in a safe place. I grabbed the hose with the pistol grip sprayer and turned the water pressure all the way up ..... and waited in front of the door. After awhile my dad opened up the little peep window on the door. I blasted him in the face at point blank. He reflexively fell back, I quickly stuck my arm through the little peep window, and unlocked and opened the door. The surprised look on my dad's face could only be described as "OH NO!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING." Then he actually said "You wouldn't dare. Skip, no, don't to it." I blasted him from head to foot several times. Then he rushed me and tried to take the hose away, but while we were struggling (and laughing), water was blasting everywhere, including on the ceiling. When it was over and my mom stopped crying, I had to mop everything up. It was totally worth it. But there was a lot of water. It took hours. There is a reason I am telling you this story. When my parents sold that house the mortgage company inspector walked through the house, and when he saw the water marks on the ceiling (they happened to be under a bathroom), he made my parents hire a contractor to tear the entire ceiling off the large entry way and inspect for dry rot. I am guessing, and warning you, that if you do not make that first ceiling repair you did a long time ago from that water pipe leak look PERFECT, the same thing could happen to you. After you repair it, you need to paint the entire ceiling. Just saying....

I love how nobody has noticed (or hasn't mentioned) this since day one. Okay so Evan has had a green mic cord and it literally messes with my anxiety! The image in green screen they're using overlaps his body in a manner that draws my attention in the worst way. IT MAKES MY SKIN CRAWL ...please fix 😵😵😵

OK you two... "All work and no play...." you know the rest. Not EVERYTHING you do needs to mean something for you business. You both deserve and NEED time each day to do something for you and ONLY you. Without it, you WILL burn out eventually. You are in the prime of your lives, so take it from someone pushing 50, do more fun stuff now before kids and age make it more difficult. If you have to work 60+ hours a week each, you are headed for a hard crash. Figure out how to scale that back now, before you are forced to due to fatigue. I love your gaming live streams, but I don't typically watch the gaming recaps on RU-vid. Maybe live-stream on RU-vid or use Restream.io to stream to both Twitch and RU-vid with the same source. I love watching you two work and you have some of the best content on the Tubes, but please don't burn yourselves out.
