Such a huge difference between this Holyfield and the one in 92, this shows clearly why he needed to retire cause he lacked the fire he once had, in the early and mid 90s if a guy started getting rough with him he fought harder, here though he seemed to slow down, Holyfield will always be an all time great but he clearly lacks the fire he once had.
He started to go downhill after he lost the title to John ruiz... Wasn't like a roller coaster drop just a gradual decline. oh Well Evander fought better out of his prime... Then a majority of heavyweights in there prime!
Evander didn't fancy this at all. I think he was shocked by Williams power and fearlessness. Williams was a real handful and was one to be avoided. Joseph parker had all kinds of problems with him too. The man didn't get the credit he deserved
So true man he's the only 5 times heavyweight champions...he don't need to prove anything, and plus it just seems weird with all his sposored gloves and trunks, when everybody knows he came from classics era, where it's just red gloves with white trim..and now to this...it just felt so weird and out of place he should've stopped fighting earlier
holyfield's style of fighting is kind of the same style I was tought to fight, which was tuck in your head and pur your head in the other guys chest so he cant hit you clean. its smart. its funny I see it the other way around in most fights holyfield is the one who gets head butted. like even the tyson fight tyson tried to rush inside while holyfield had his head tucked in like he should and then they hit heads. in most fights the other guy rushed inside of holyfield and a headbutt happends
haha what a lame excuse... but glad you don't deny headbutts happened in the Tyson fight. Dude was afraid to let the fight explode, afraid of a washed out after jail drug addict Mike. :)
Holyfield met a tougher head than his own in this bout. Of course Evander is a legend of boxing and he was 49 here, but nothing lasts forever. Williams was robbed here.
Yeah. Im Holyfields number 1 fan, but he quit this one. It wasnt his night and Holyfield felt he was on his way to being hurt or knocked out. Holy was cut worst against other fighters and kept fighting. Hurts me to say that. But all younger versions of Holyfield would have beaten Sherman up. Completely up. But the old warrior wasnt on this night and he knew when to call it a night and done. Lol.
@@compound00 Yep Holyfield is my favorite fighter, but he wanted out of this one. He never would have quit back in the day. That's why people need to understand when their time is up and just walk away. Can't stay young forever.
Si tu as besoin de mettre des coups de tête et des coups derrière la tête !!! pour gagner contre un mec de 48 ans .. tu mérites un no contest ..alors que tu lui fais mal avec ta droite ... Hollyfield a eu raison , à 48ans... Il a pris l'argent .. pour toute sa carrière, chapeau bas l'artiste ❤❤
Holyfield was one of the biggest cheaters ever!!! He got a taste of his own medicine this time!!! Holyfield used his head all the time during fights. He was always known for headbutting!!!
tyson actually lost to holyfield only due to headbutts. there were severe cuts over his eyes which were more than these on holyfield's. holyfield was a dirty fighter but umpires favoured him otherwise he needed to be disqualified.
he was cut real bad earlier in his career against Bowe, right down to the bone. It never healed properly and was prone to opening up in fights, notably against Bowe again in their 3rd fight. He fought wars Holyfield and always against bigger men and he didn't duck anyone. He doesn't bottle anything you fuckwit.
the over hand right did it because when they showed the head but it came from the right and connected with the middle of holyfeilds forehead but holyfeilds cut was on the left eye at the bottom of his eyebrow
So sad to see one of the all time greats reduced to this. I don't know if Evander needed money or if he was just obsessed with getting one more big payday and a shot at the lineal title but this was bad.
The slow-mo replay at 20:44 makes it crystal clear that the cut came from a clash of heads. Holyfield's style of leaning forward with his head probably caused the clash, but that's another matter altogether. As the cut came from the clash, the no contest ruling was spot on. Whether the cut looks looks or bad is irrelevant, because it's not a beauty contest (if it was a beauty contest, both Williams and Holyfield would have been knocked out in the prelims). What's relevant is whether or not there is something about the cut which is dangerous, and the doctor can even be heard at 22:53 saying it was arterial blood pumping into the eye, and so he didn't want the fight to go on. Anybody claiming that it should have been awarded a TKO is probably on crack.
Holyfield headbutted his entire career. He tried to headbutt Toney, but James just punched his face and head on the way in because he was so fast. In this fight, Holyfield was rocked and all wobbly so he quit on a nothing cut...... He was gonna get KTFO
Most of the time the butts happened Holyfield was next to the guy already and then an he punches he moves his whole upper body violently and sharply from side to side, that's when the butts happen. Evander knows this and does it on purpose as he's less prone to cuts. That's why the ref kept saying watch your head Evander' when he was cheek to cheek....as near as height...permitted with Lewis, who was getting butted all over the place...a third weapon in Holyfield's arsenal.
I like Evander but I don't see where an artery is pumping blood into his eye . Do we have artery's on the outside of our skull ? If he has a fractured skull he wouldn't be with us anymore . Also I thought it was cool of S W to come over and talk to Evander for a few moments after it was stopped .
I love Evander he is one of my fave boxers of all time, BUT.....he clearly lost this bout. How was this ruled a No Contest. Complete robbery. Plus, Evander should have done the admirable thing and given Sherman an immediate rematch. Holyfield should have had rematches with James Toney, Chris Byrd and Sherman Williams. I really think that at this point in his life and career had Holyfield faced Williams again, Holyfield would have lost the rematch. Evander was a mere shell of his former great self at this time.
Mike Tyson told me personally that evendar head butted him constantly!!! So whoever said that Tyson said there wasn't any foul play is full of shit. I've spoken to Tyson twice in my life and he mentioned both times that holyfield was using his head to butt. Just watch both fights and look for yourself.
Tyson was one of the dirtiest fighters there was head butts , following through will Elbows and forearms ,hitting with shoulders in clinches , when the tables where turned he complained , look at round 7 in the first fight when he tries and step in blatent headbutt and holyfield keeps his chin close to his chest and Tyson comes off worst
@@stephenmacdonald76 7th round after 6 long rounds of headbutting. Holyfield was afraid of a washed out after jail drug addict Mike Tyson. nuff said...
Guys like you want to discredit E Holyfield, just remember Evander is the only boxer to be World Champion 4 times. Holyfield is a great boxer and his fans love him.🤩
