Giving Evanescence "What You Want" a go. Hope it turned out OK. This one is extremely cool. Love the intro and I've seen various clips of Will Hunt doing this one live. Rather than make it note for note with the studio cut, I tried to implement different aspects of what I've watched / heard him do in a live setting (as well as bring out the backing running behind the intro). Really like Will Hunt's approach and style. Will's channel on here is Lilyeve71. Incredibly entertaining and hard, hard hitter. Lastly, there's a fantastic drumless version of this song on the channel Mr Black. I have no idea how to link it currently but search "What You Want Drumless" and his work should come up.

Earl - you took on Inagaddadavida. A 17 minute monster and I'm at work so I had to watch it interrupted a few times over lunch. But I finished it and I cannot wait to watch it uninterrupted at the crib. It was phenomenal work. As far as this vid, thank you for being kind enough to watch and comment Earl. Will Hunt is a super energetic and visual drummer so it's just my way of tipping the hat to him. Really like the dude and his playing.

So much to take in. Solid Beat, Solid groove, those stick twirls are amazing.Every time I try choking cymbals all I do is bleed or drop a stick, or blth. Great stuff. watched it 3 times back to back so far, before commenting.

What up Big D-1! Trust me - I've got scars on my fingers from catches / chokes gone wrong. Took one years ago that was gnarly. I'd cracked the crash during the show. I knew it cause the sound started to fade but it was one of those nights w/ good sound and a good sized room. Anyhoos, reached up and caught the crack and it stung. I threw in a few tricks here and there just out of respect to Will. He's a really impressive showman. Highly recommend anybody checking out his work with Evanescence, Black Label, Tommy Lee, Static-X, etc. Thanks buddy!

@@TreyBDrums Ya, I hesr you. I once sat in with a 15 piece Big Band, Strange drums, and drums a fill, I managed to rip the top of a knuclke off on a cmybal. I did not realize it until the song was over and I picked up the charts. I was a bit miffed as to why there was spagetti sauce on a few pages, I was my blood.

Drumming for a lot of us is an exercise in physicality - whether it be in a standard rock / metal band or sitting in w/ the local blues band. We can't help it. We hit hard because it produces the sound we want (in the event FOH doesn't give us what we're looking for). We've all been both down the road and on it. And we don't know how to be anything other than who we are. Even if it means physical pain.

What up Andrea! That's so kind of ya bro but I'm just glad you enjoyed it. As soon as I finish this comment, I want to go back and find that live performance. It's a straight on shot and Will Hunt is front and center at an outdoor show. Dude, watching how he went at it live was MASSIVELY helpful. Will is one of those players I just really dig. About every stop he's made has been with an act or an artist I like and he hits with some serious power. Appreciate it my friend!

Would love to see what we could come up with dude! Man, I'm not an envious type cat. That's why I'm thankful I didn't do anything like this in my 20's. I needed to grow up a bit in all sorts of areas. All we can do is just push ourselves to be better. And at the same time, we can always be aware of opportunity and the opportunities worth checking out, we run 'em down. But I try to keep a simple minded approach on things. Just focus on what I can control and support others who pursue what they do with passion and some hustle. Speaking of which - heading to your channel to get caught up! Thanks my friend

Hey Marie-Eve! I sure appreciate it. Once I get past the part where I think everything I do sucks.....LOL!....then I get to the part where I enjoy playing. But at the end of it, I always want to be personally satisfied with the quality so (hopefully) folks can be entertained and get a good mix. On the Roland pad - LOVE incorporating that side of things. I still have a TD-20 kit but the morning of this cover, I was tracking for an artist that needed a clapping type effect in that particular tune. So instead of adding it after the fact or looping something, I just played it live to see if it got a good feel. I'll mix that tune down over the weekend and I hope it turned out OK....HAHAHAHA! Thank you so, so much!

First - the Best of You cover was total and complete kick assery! Loved it. Second - man, you'll never regret a 421 for toms. I've been fortunate enough to hear the Earthworks DM 20's live and they flat out rumble and I'm assuming they're just as high end in a studio setting. But for the price, the 421 is tried and true. You will probably have to fidget w/ the placement to find that sweet spot (and you'll also love the part where the sweet spot changes....LOL!). But I SO recommend that mic. You'll flat out love it dude
