what EVE needs is something to give us a better feel for the size of ships. They could, for example add more station animations like the ship crew walking around on the platform under the ship, vehicles carrying cargo on/off the ship, small maintenance machines flying around the ship and checking it's condition and so on... This would totally bring stations to life.
@@Scorchey_Bagel I agree and the fact that you can walk around inside of stations and ships in Star Citizen, Space Engineers or other games completely changes the perceived scale of the ships.
I've built Maller battlecruiser in SE. It gets 30K blocks to built, but I did. And full interior too. I used a load of mods, to make it feel real, like laser beam cannons. I walk around and do some cosmetic stuff from time to time. It's real size and it have factories to process ore into stuff, so ship is self sufficient. Maller in eve is just a small ship, but in SE a manage to fit inside not only crew waters and mess halles, but even medbay, and briefing room with a size of a cinema, and a small shuttle bay for small craft.
If i was walking through the city and saw a ship of such grandeur floating above... I would fall to the ground and weep from happiness while marveling at such a majestic floating behemoth. The love I have for space and massive constructions. Anyone else feel the same?
Saying they are cities are a bit underestimate... since titans are kilometers in all directions, but not many buildings exceed 200m in height... You could quite comfortably put a major nation in one of those things. For example, they have a volume around 100 cubic kilometers, if the titans have 1/10 of its internal volume as crew quarters, you could put the entire population of Australia (30 million) in the crew quarters and everyone have on average 300 cubic meters of living space, which is pretty comfortable.
Amazing vid. The ships never seem so large in game. Nice to have this scale. I'd previously thought of frigates more like fighters....but actually they are larger than jet airliners. Also nice to see the titans over NYC like that. Amazing.
Lol imagine a scenario where our city is being invaded by these 4 titans.. imagine titans blocking the sun while entering our atmosphere.. the last rays of light that somehow find their way to hit the ground.. that probably will be the last beautiful image you'll ever see :O
This video should be required viewing by all new people. Help them to respect the scope of ships, and the reason why the training time is as long as it is.
Training Time for T1 Cruisers is not even that long, since you only need the *insert Fraction Name here* Frigate and Destroyer Skill on Level 3 to learn the actual Cruiser Skill. That would take about 2-3 days i guess + some extra days to get the Skills for operating the Equipment properly(!) (i mean minimum on lvl3 if not on lvl4) So, basicly you can become an actual decent cruiser pilot in just a few weeks.
The biggest thing you can fly in EvE for free are T1 Cruisers thats right. For higher classes (Battlecruisers, Battleships, etc.) or T2 - T3 Ships (advanced Versions of the T1 Ships with more potential but far more expensive) you need to upgrade your free Clone into the "Omega-Status" which you can archieve by buying "Omega-Time" directly on the EvE-Homepage or ingame by buying "PLEX" on the free market (But before i make you false hopes, these PLEX are VERY expensive! Sometimes over 1 bilion ISK)
even in 200 years this is not gonna happen (unless we made some magic breakthrough ) Unless we got in war with a futur alien race we'll not need such warship, this will recquired in a conflict between 2 world size camps for the firsts times (after maybe in a far far future thoses ships could be used by smaller camps like pirates)
Captain Picard yeah, Amarr is considered the best-looking race when it comes to ship Design, at least by the majority of people, i guess (including me lol)
I always wondered how a single man in a capsule can pilot a huge Titan, they look like they have a insane amount of crew because they have lights of windows everywhere.
If memory serves, crew was actually something retconned (god knows why). The implication was that you still had crew and just helmed from your pod. Now Im not sure what the lore is but crewed ships make MUCH more sense. Also, if you look in the cockpits of all the Fighters there are little pilots in them. Meaning that all the fighters launched by carriers are actually crewed! Kinda neat
imagine just walking along street level when all of a sudden a supercarrier warps in over your head. That shit would literally fill the entire sky over your head.
I want to see a video of this same detail with an average 6 foot tall person standing on, or right next to, a Titan. Even with a titan floating over a city, it's still very difficult to imagine the size. It's absolutely amazing.
I read somewhere the Titans are so massive in terms of size and mass that they can affect the tides on planets, these things are mind boggling big, they cant even enter atmospheres because they'd collapse under their own weight
I specially liked one of the first shots where the Omen was floating above the city the camera was almost looking at it from a building. It would be amazing to see a scene like that but with a ship actually moving through the city and the camera staying at the same point. Like a normal person would if a huge ship just appeared in the sky. Loved the video by the way!
Wow... I have been playing Eve for 9 years now, and ran across this video and NOW I really realize how HUGE most of the ships are! I will have a different perspective when I log in again. (play daily). I mostly fly DSTs, Orca and the Prov, and they are alot bigger that I had assumed. Thanks CCP for this video!
EVE-OUTTAKES is a fan-project about EVE ONLINE... so this video was not done by CCP. But thank you very much! Many greetings from germany to all EVE PLAYERS.... by EVE-OUTTAKES (ALIAS PSY CHO)
That is the Revenant Supercarrier. It's a Sansha ship and the only faction capital ship in the game. You can get the blueprint by doing high level Incursions. Only around 5 are in known existence in the game currently.
I'm quite sure the WWII ship model belongs to the King George V Class from the Royal Navy, not sure which one is it though. Excellent video as always, can't wait to see more!
According to eve lore; when titans first took the interstellar playing field, a series of small disasters occurred when they flew to close to inhabited planets. Their gravitational pulls pulled the tides and flooded coastal cities. Now they have designated flight paths in space to avoid such catastrophes. Isn't that cool?
its funny that when you start, you feel smaller than the other ships, but really, a frigate can carry 150 or so people in a frigate! But its also scary to see how large they are, like a air plane can be close to a frigate, but once we are into destroyers. All I am saying is, holy fudge, they are massive!
People usually refers these capital ships (especially titans)are city sized spaceships, however that is an underestimate. Remember that our buildings rarely exceed 200m in altitude, but these titans have kilometers on all dimensions... A rough estimate of their internal volume, is about 100 cubic kilometers. You can easily cram a major nation into that thing... Assume 1/10 of that is living quarters, you can cram the entire population of Australia in one of those things and each person will get about 300 cubic meters of living space, which is not comparable to modern navy vessels, but more similar to larger apartments or smaller houses.
yep... and also for the isometric side/front and backviews.... so it doesn´t matter how far an abject is placed in front of the camera....the size of the object will allways be the same no matter if you move arround.
the January 2013 issue of National Geographic featured an article called "The New Age of Exploration" which depicted some scaled interstellar spaceship designs, some of them utterly dwarf these ships. One was long enough to go along the entire east coast of Florida if I recall correctly..
Imagine the look on Bowser's face if Mario flew one of those dreadnoughts over his Castle. That would be obsurred! I think Bowser would give up on peach.
In short, the ships in eve are bigger and range in scale a lot more than the graphics can truly represent by itself (EVEN NOW AS GOOD AS THEY ARE). This video helps us understand that. It would take an insane amount of gpu power and processing power to boot if the eve team created the textures on the larger ships to scale perfectly with the smallest.
The city model looks like it was based off of New York City. The ship model sizes are probably based off of the volume of each ship. Create a three dimensional space that is of equal volume to a certain ship, and then create a model of the ship inside which that volume can fit.
Its obviously just a game but I can't help but think if we'll ever build ships that big. It may be a couple thousands of years, maybe more maybe less, but one day i'm sure there will be ships that big roaming around space.
workers building one of the Titans: "Hey Bob I left my wrench can you help me fetch it while I hold these two together?" "sure thing Joe where'd you leave it?" "at the tail end of this bloody ship" "we're at the cockpit?!" "yes bob now go get it for me" "I'm an unpaid intern and you want me to walk all the way back there to get your stupid wrench?" "yes." "wait till r/antiwork hears about this bullshit" this is probably why building them takes so long
A ship which takes months of real time and a staggering amount of raw materials to build which can be destroyed in minutes by ships that your enemy can get instantly, for free, in unlimited numbers.
Outstanding Job!! I can see a lot of hard work went into this. It would be interesting to compare the ships from Independence Day, the Enterprise, and the some of the ships from Star Wars, including the Death Star.
It was in HD like my other vids... it´s strange... RU-vid removes the HD Option after 1-2 hours...... like last night. First I thought I made a mistake anyhow...
Friggen awesome! Though I would have liked to have seen a human representation standing on each of the ships, perhaps near what are presumably a window of the vessel.
in fact, some missile varieties use an atomic warhead, and some of those missiles (like cruise missiles from a battleship) are as large as a skyscraper. The universe has had 20,000 years to adapt to nuclear weapons and theyre nothing special now =D
funny how you forget how big you are wen you conside tere is always some one a lil biger than you or wen you visit the memorial and see the dozens of destroyed titans and mega warships..... an amazing game indid.
There is a story of a titan coming too close to a small farming planet, the gravitational pull of the titan screwed up the irrigation systems causing everyone on the planet to starve to death. so i would probably not only shit my pants i would probably be levitating due to the gravity change.
I should create a short video like the sequence in the movie "independence day" when the big mothership was getting through the clouds.....just like "how a titan would look like when ya wake up and look out of the window".... :D
See I always thought a frigate was about the size of an F-18. Single pilot ship, cruisers were about the size of the Milano from gotg. Battleships are about the size of an aircraft carrier. That’s interesting
to the 12:30 part "And in later news if you looks outside you'll see how totally fucked we all are so we should put some paper bags on our heads and lay on the ground."
