Biggest issue I see with your setup is no storage. Typically, you want P0 going to a main storage facility in case of overflow, and P1/P2 going to the launch facility. The launch will fill up much slower so you need only visit your planets every 3-5 days. Also, you lose a lot with 24hr cycles. Somewhere between 5-12hrs is optimum. 10.5hrs is easy mode, 7hrs might be a bit aggressive.

You don't need storage, run it and you will see. All PI is half the volume it use to be. Also you can move p1 out into the 35km3 of the POCO without even undocking when you "View Outside".

Didn’t know about the view outside tip - thank you When they halved PI volume I went around all my factory planets on all accounts, removed storage units and redistributed the resource… it also effectively doubled the amount you could launch from a command centre (yes, I know … but some of the local planets to my null sec toon have 100% tax rates…)

@@gothmog2441Can either of you clarify what you mean by 'view outside'? You still have to be in system, correct?

Yes, and it's a button up by the unlock button if you are in a player structure.

Interesting take, I’ve not done PI in years but used to always use 3 day cycles so I could be more hands off. I guess with the change to volume this means you can run shorter cycles and have no issues with storage.

Agree with you that PI should be as hands off as possible … that’s why I set my extractors to run for seven days and just let em do their thing…

Very good explanations of what is going on. Thank you! I have 3 accts and only do PI on all but one character and pull in about 2.5B isk a week. Pays for itself. I am an engineer and I have a very different view on PI than you do. It doesn't do much good to try to extract the most you can on every planet when the top level product you can produce is limited by your lowest producing extraction planet. The volume change has been very good for PI. Your view of the extraction amount is too simplistic. The extraction curve is really an logarithmic?. for a starting extraction amount of x, at the end of one day, regardless of the timer setting, only 1/2x is extracted. At the end of 2 days, this has dropped to 1/3x. No matter how much you extract, at the end of the 3rd day, you cannot extract enough to power more than 4 heads.

Christ. Youre reall gonna make me go redo half my pi and add a second extractor 😂 bc i never thought itd be worth it having more factories for the good cycles at start

if you don't mind, could you please share this nice excel sheet?

Its actually really easy to make, can be done in 5 minutes in excel

to be honest its not something i really need for my pi setup as iv been keeping things pretty balanced producing p4 products. Still that sheet looks so nice id pay for it!

how many accts do you have?

i only have 2 accounts active atm. ofc i cant possibly keep up the p4 planet all the time its still pretty worth@@happytravelling

Love this PI content. Can you do a video and cover what the PI graph window means? When the extractor line goes red is that waste???

I've been using your vids as a guide for me doing PI in lowsec. I'm having issues with the deposit becoming devoid of materials. I was tempted to try and move my extractors, is it worth it?

any chance you have a video on how that spreadsheet is set up, or if we can have a link to it ? Thanks

Does anyone know if the resources will come back around or replenish over time? Or should we expect them to dry up and have to change planets constantly?
@happytravelling
@happytravelling 3 месяца назад
Planets vary. I do PI in nullsec and have been using the same planets pretty much for 3 years. I rarely need to move the extractor, just the heads. Some planets do not replenish very quickly, but rarely is it a problem. The biggest problem over the years is if someone places extractors near your setup and this will very quickly drain the local resources. Also, If you restart the extractors quickly, it will decrease the amount extracted - try starting and stopping extractors 3 times in a row - you will see what I mean. I have only changed planets when I change the end product.

Would I be correct in saying that the TLDW is: Extract 100% more than you produce per hour and set your cycle time to 24hrs?

Can you share the spreadsheet you are referencing?

In PI, you want to maximize your income. Factories should run 24/7, like you said in the first minute. But extractors should also run 24/7. Its nonsense to NOT restart extractors for like 20 hours or what you said. You just have to build more factories then. You have to balance raw income and processing in such way, that neither of both stand still.
@silverfox8615
@silverfox8615 8 месяцев назад
You main assumption is flawed. Raw yield isn't linear. You're gong to lose the bulk of your input to waste without storage units.
@JAKEL33T
@JAKEL33T 8 месяцев назад
No, you won't. It takes 2 million raw to fill up the 10km3 & you are using it as it comes in. Yes, it's not liner. The sheet uses the Avg.. Per hour that is shown in game. If you over produce raw you will run out of space, but that's not the point of this video. It's about producing a little more raw then needed to cover the diminished yield as the cycle progresses.

@@JAKEL33THow often are you pulling P1 out of your Launchpad? I assume you're storing both your P0 & P1 there?
@JAKEL33T
@JAKEL33T 7 месяцев назад
I grab it whenever I need it. Once every 2-3 days maybe.
