To support industrial activity in EVE Online a freighter is an expensive but in my opinion vital goal to work towards. try the game: www.eveonline.com/
Coming from a person who builds them.... YES YOU SHOULD BUY A FREIGHTER!!!!!!!! Even the one that looks like the Enterprise got freaky with a borg cube. Thank you.
Personally, if you are just starting out, I think that an Orca is a really good investment, if your careful with it. I bought an Orca starting out because it was about half as expensive, but the utility you get out of 600-700 million is very good. If your a miner, and you have some friends or alts, it will increase your yield by about 2x as much, then you can use that as a mini freighter to take your minerals to market. This is how I made my first billion in game. For someone who doesn't have the combat skills to run lvl 4s or do sites, which is a way better way to make isk, having an Orca really helps out with your logistics while increasing your yield. Even better is that they have decreased the time to train for it. It now only takes about 15 days to get into. Having said that I never owned a freighter, but I also never felt like I needed it.
Good video. One ship I think gets overlooked a lot is the Occator. It has a 60k fleet hanger with another 3900 internal cargo, overheated can push 150k EHP buffer tank and has 2 warp stability built into it. You can also put a cloak and probe scanner on it for wormhole life, use prop mods for faster warping and the total T2 fit cost is around 200 mil. It also doesn't take too long to skill into it. It's been the backbone of my industrial needs for awhile now and is extremely flexible.
I was hoping you would talk a little about courier jobs. Been thinking about becoming a space courier and just running cargo transports across the galaxy. A short video on the topic, including tips would be much appreciated.
Dont forget the Transport ships... very useful with cov-ops option or the extra Fleet hanger which is plenty of room for me :) .. Great middle ground before freighters
+otacon1024 No they aren't. T2 haulers have specific purposes. One can haul without the fear of being cargo scanned, and the other has warp core probes built in and has a small cargo hold. They are cheaper. Not a middle ground.
+SynrsCreed You obviously don't know what "middle ground" means, so I'll leave it at that. Also, there's no such thing as "warp core probes", and the one that has a warp core strength bonus is the DST which also has a fleet hangar, and therefore larger cargo hold.
You may already know this stuff, but you didn't mention it, so I'll throw some tips your way in case you don't. You can use an alt to stasis webify your freighter when it's aligning, which will make it go to warp almost instantly. Makes travel way faster and also avoids bumpers in most cases. Basically press align or jump, and as soon as you drop gate cloak target and webify your freighter. This will only work when you're starting from 0 speed, so it won't help you when undocking. But in that case, you can make a tactical undock bookmark and have your webbing alt on standby there. When you undock, insta-warp to the tactical, and as soon as you land start aligning and webify.
+delonewolf Well, you could get a friend or corpmate (or in your case, a brother :D) to web for you. I just use an alt because I already have one for other purposes.
+otacon1024 Good one. I remember sending my freighter into low-sec a couple of times. And always used the webbing trick. I usually do it just before downtime so unless they suddenly bring in loads of DPS they wouldnt be able to kill it before the server is killed. It happened once that a guy got me. I just stayed logged off until he was not online anymore and the system was clear.
I want to play eve just for this. Mining, Industry, logistics, pirating, escorting, alliance-wide market manipulation, blockading. Imagine the internal politics of corporations as they decide whether it would be desirable for a free market focus or whether to avert attention towards economic autonomy. and then the potential results from those decisions such as setting up proper administrated trade routes or blobbing out, claiming as much resources as possible.
Dear Friend, How come you don't use standard shipping containers for cargo storage? why no barges? Do you use any kind of container storage for your mined ores or processed industrial products?
Hello you said that you are into a small Corp, as am new in eve, am wondering if being small tends to make you being the target of larger Corps. or gankers maybe? for what I've experienced, being into a huge Corp that doesn't know how to manage stuff is rather troublesome too!
Going straight to your gate is the most dangerous way to leave in a freighter. Best is to use your exit speed to warp to a pre-set safe spot directly out of the gate. Once there you can take time to redirect to your true destination without having to worry about being bumped and possibly ganked because you cant warp. This technique should also be used for your Interon IV. It requires some set up work to get your safe spot set, but its worth having done the work. Keep a shuttle in your hold and run out and set a safe spot.
Duel Box with a web alt. By the time your freighter gets to the gate your web alts timers will end. Some times it's a sub 5sec align. ***ALSO IF YOU DONT HAVE INSTA UNDOCKS & DOCS SET UP AT EVERY TRADE HUB AND YOUR HOME DOCKUP YOUR DOING IT WRONG.*** You should make a video on it. Take your fastest ship stable with MWD that is cheap. When you are about to log off for bed or work. Undock and do nothing but turn on your MWD. When you get home if you dont have the station on your Overview save your location. Congrats you made an awesome insta undock. It prevents people from cargo scanning you. Then they would have to scan you down to bump or gank you when your leaving the trade hub. As soon as you undock warp to that location and because your at full speed you instantly warp because you are already aligned to the saved location. Bring your web alt out. Challenge your self to a Duel lock up your freighter and then make your freighter start warping to the gate or station. Once your freighter is at about 1/4 speed duel web it and it will warp pretty much instantly. I do this with my orca. You can use an alpha toon on a laptop for this. For insta docks take a Corvette and fly above or below the station and save a location that is with in 0m from the station and save it. Make sure it is not too close or your freighter may bounce away. I usually go about 1000m off then slowly move in and as soon as it says 0m save the location. Then as soon as you land on grid when you warp there you can instantly dock and not have to wait for your ship to get close enough. Bam. The insta-undock and insta-dock are the useful for everything you fly. The web alt is good for indy ships that are slow
Okay so a few things. You should have insta warp pings on and off the stations you are couriering to and from. Also, freighters are very nice for what we call suitcasing. You can put all your valuables (ships, modules, ect) if you’re citadels are getting smashed in from evictions.
Since you make ammunition I want to make sure you are aware that a minmatar industrial has an ammo bay. I'm almost certain you know it but just making sure.
Daniel Murray I don't play anymore or I would definitely test that out, that sounds like it would have made that alt pretty useless except for when I let it sit in an orca for people :P
erm... Delonewolf, just a question, does the freighter get more defense/ehp with a damage control? that is what I learned from my brother flying a bowhead
Were ganking fleets such as CODE as much of a thing three years ago when this video was made as it is today? The number of times I have had to dodge a gank or been caught in a gank in the past year keeps my freighter(s) in dock. I should sell them but they look pretty and I sometimes think of bringing one out. Then I think of the cost of the ship and cargo that would be lost if I got caught. With someone else in fleet or if I were running multiple clients I think freighters are doable but as a mostly solo player I don't feel the benefit meets the risks.
I agree with you, i don't take a freighter to a trade hub at this point but choose a faster ship so they don't start bumping. It was not that bad 3-4 years ago although the bumping macharials have been a thing for a very long time.
oh wow I like the Obelisk looks way better than Providence, haha, but I'll probably wind up in the Prov because of more Amarr, and I do like the name. The Obelisk just looks like a giant big block motor chugging through space! Quite slow but not as slow as I thought for its size compared to my exhumer
if you are a miner get 5 accounts 4 miners and an orca pilot get one of those tools into a freighter drop your enormous freight containers and clear the belt then scoop the containers with the freighter.
Well said. I used an Orca before I had the skills for a freighter, and the results are night and day. What some people don't realize is that an untanked freighter is faster than an Orca.
+delonewolf i went to eft it and actually see how obelisk (and im guessing all other freighters) have almost no cpu.... so excuse my ignorant comment... adding a adaptive nano plating does not add on the cargohold penalty, but it gives you less ehp, maybe in the amarr one.. more inclined to armor... but yeah.. ignore me :P good video tho... i feel a bit drowned by industrialish things... had an indy alt.. could not be able to make it profitable (to pay for itself, PI almost did it, will try again soonish), got into a mastodon, so i guess the fenrir would be my freighter of choice (tbh, is the prettiest imho, it's like a buffalo, or a yak)
@@TheBod76 i dont need luck with that lol. but you know. sometimes its a good idea to do your homework first before saying anything ;) i.imgur.com/bImhlab.jpg
Best south is Charon And with skill ecrase south Base : 465 000 m³ And 5% south bonus per skill level in more TOTAL + 25% bonus = 581 250 m³ Use this ship for move Tritanium and ores and others minerals....
+LongShankz2009 There was the old Primae or whatever it was called, it was the precursor ship before the salvage ship came out. It's not in open circulation but had bonuses to hauling PI assets. The only other ship is one of the Iteron haulers, specializing in PI assets. Beyond these two, there are no ships with any bonuses or roles for PI.
Primae is garbage. Unupgradable 1000m3 pi goods hold. An expander fitter Trasher does that, and is faster to boot. A bog standard t1 indy with t1 fit can hit 30000m3. The gallante PI indy can hold 60000m3, and unlike a normal indy has its lowslots free for inertial stabs and warp core stabs.
so lore wise the warp tunnel is in subspace so you are basically in another dimension/plane of space, there is also a fascinating sci fi physics model made by max singularity about it, he's an eve player who works for Nasa and it should be a talk from one of the latest fanfests.
yeah sry didnt know about the cpu nerf, but come by next patch freighters will get the native hull 33% resistances so at least CCP it's giving them some love
yes get a freighter, give us MOAR gankfood! it dosent matter how much you tank it up, gankers still gonna get you for flying a carebear ship in plebsec =)
