@@rockets4kids … true but … it’s still a perfect description of all Cobras. lol. My old man had a ‘64 AC Cobra 289 … and I remember riding in it to this day. lol Spot on. 😂
When my kids were in dipers they would fall asleep in my 427 cobra. The shaking and noise would put them to sleep. One time back around 1974 it was hot out and when I put my younger son in the car the hot seat caused him to pee and it went right through his dipers. It ended up hardning some of the leathe seat. One other time I was pulling up to a stop behind a truck and my son had fallen asleep across the gear shifter. I looked down to move hid head so I could take it out of gear and I rolled into the truck and dented the aluminum nose pannel. Didn't do anything to the truck.
@seeharvester ....Really..? George Wallace was a bigoted, overtly racist segregationist Governor of Alabama who served 3 terms beginning in 1963. He personally stood at the entrance of the University of Alabama to prevent black students from entering during segregation in 1963. He later was paralyzed from the waist down in an automobile accident, but continued his political career from a wheelchair..
Correct , NONE of the 427COBRAS should be Driven by ANY Amateurs I wouldn't even let my Own Son , Drive mine , Until he was 40 years old These cars WILL Kill you IF your NOT CAREFUL ! They are INCREDIBLY POWERFUL . RAW Power and UNGODLY amounts of TORQUE and they have NO Conscience ! Pedal to the metal , YOu have NO Idea of the Consequence !
Look up the article titled "What it means to drive a Cobra" by Dan Mroz. It is summarized near the end by the car whispering to the owner "If you take me for granted, I will kill you." With a short wheelbase, and an awesome power to weight ratio, the Cobra has caught out many a driver, and some have ended up taking a dirt nap.
@@edwardhalpin7503 I know a retired Oakland firefighter who had two original Cobras. One he bought in 1970, the other around 1972. He sold them both in the mid 90s. He got a lot of money for them, but nowhere near what they were going for 10-15 years later, or what they are worth now.
Thanks! That was a good read. Funny, yet surprisingly informative. I have even more respect now for anyone that's ever driven one and lived to tell the tale.
M'kay And to think that the original Cobra's went 0 to 100 and back to 0 in about 13 sec. How big would your gonads have to be to do that on the tires that they had on them
@@lilorbielilorbie2496 Well ...... I had a 125 shifter kart years ago that would reportedly do 0-100-0 in about 10+ seconds, if it had the right gearing and sticky tires. I never ran at a track where we got up to 100, though. All I know is that the thing was a rocket. But I heard some people managed to do it in under 10 seconds.
I really miss this guy he was probably one of the funniest human beings ever zebra it's a shame what happened to him but Maybe one of these days he'll be back.
Bill Cosby is a legend. Very funny. Talking about another legend. To Jay Leno. Quite a car ! Jay himself is a massive car fan. This is quite a legendary video clip. I can only dream of this car alas.......
🤦 Grrr, non-car people... No idea... What a waste on a non-car person. Should have built it for someone like Paul Newman or Steve McQueen... Or me, even though it was 22 yrs before I was born... 😂
Dear Daniel Brealey, I don't know how old you are, or how bright you are, soooo......, I will try to be gentle as I attempt to educate and edify you, but believe it or not, Bill Cosby IS a car guy just like Leno, Letterman, Newman, etc. In the Mid 1960's when Cosby's comedy career was starting to reach it's first levels of success, along with his role in the television show, "I Spy", in which he co-starred with Robert Culp, Cosby invested in many successful businesses and enterprises which made him very very wealthy like,... Quincy Jones wealthy. You can look the Quincy Jones reference up so that you understand how wealthy Cosby was becoming, in an era when very few black people even in entertainment were accumulating wealth, he was becoming incredibly wealthy. In the process of becoming a very wealthy entertainment icon, Cosby catered to one of his hobbies, and that was high performance exotic cars, Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Jag's,etc. He purchased and invested in these items because, believe it or not he is, and, was a gearhead, and continued to be so throughout his career, until the ultimate demise of his reputation and career. There are interviews in "Playboy", and on television with him tooling around in one of his exotic sports cars,......., decades before this interview with Leno, so before you shoot your mouth off with an uneducated statement of opinion, do some research, I am sure that it will help your reputation as it applies to your intelligence or lack there of. Oh, and if you are one of the younger generations, who saw that horrible movie with Owen Wilson that was out a few years ago called "I Spy", that movie was a cheap reboot of the Cosby TV show that I referenced above from the Mid-60's. As movie icon Clint Eastwood said in one of his "Dirty Harry" films "A man has got to know his limitations". So know your knowledge and intelligence limitations before you fire off an opinion, you see no matter what opinions we might have about Cosby in this day and age, he knew his limitations as it applied to that Cobra Super Snake 🐍 that Shelby had painstakingly created for him, unlike the Cobra's next owner who died in that very car!!! Know your limitation!!!
Bill liked the Italian sports cars. They were pretty and docile. Shelby built race cars for the street. Bill didn't know that. The Ferrari of the day might have 375 hp. The Cobra was said to have 850 hp. 428 scj with twin Paxton super chargers. It was not docile.
@sonnybadyal7767 the Cosby car was sold and the new owner ran it off a cliff on the Pacific Coast Highway and died. It exists but has a salvage title. It was totaled. The Shelby SuperSnake was sold at the Barrett Jackson auction for 5.5 million when Shelby was still alive. He drove it regularly.
The "regular" big-block Cobra was dangerous enough for the unskilled driver - 450 or so horsepower in a car that weighed less than 2400lbs is bonkers enough, adding dual superchargers is loony bin material.
