In this video I will be showing even more major differences between high and low chaos in the rest of the levels of the game. Like and maybe even a subscribe is always appreciated but most of all I hope that you enjoyed.
Some of these differences are actually detected/undetected. The ‘unknown assailant’ on the posters lasts as long as you don’t get spotted at all. For the Lord Regent’s Zoom call, he comes downstairs if you haven’t spotted in that mission in the outdoors section.
Kind of makes you think how terrifying high chaos ghost with the hide-bodies skill must be. Entire blocks of people disappearing without any understanding of who or what's doing it.
I remember branding Campbell, the Pendleton's, kidnapping Sokolov and Boyle and signing Corvos name at the Boyle party, which was HILARIOUS and insulting. There was a note from Captain Tobias to Regent Burrows, they were pretty sure it was a messed up joke or actually Corvo. It might contribute to Chaos, not sure. I always will sign the Guest list though just to be mean.
Honestly, although the big drawing of the mask is freaking awesome, it breaks my heart to see Emily turn from an innocent joyous girl who loves Corvo into a girl haunted by fear and only sees Corvo as a masked Vigilante
I love the stealthy/low chaos raid of Daud's hideout. Corvo is basically teabagging this group of legendary assassins telling them "You showed me I'm not that great a bodyguard. Guess I'm better at your jobs tho". Even cooler if you steal Daud's stuff without him noticing.
@@humannomore7759 Haha yeesss that would be amazing I think I read a fanfic where there was a short excerpt from Daud's perspective He got told by his servant that Corvo had been half poisoned, stripped of his weapons, bound hand and foot, and still got away Kind of like what we hear in the game And he sighed, told them to leave, and sat down in a chair to reflect for a moment He felt a knife poke in his back, instantly knew it wasn't a blade the assassins normally use, and 'took it for the message that it was'. I thought it was an awesome touch Not only did Corvo sneak past and do everything he did in game, but he left some sort of knife there specifically for Daud - not to kill, from what I interpreted, just as a warning XD
Corvo is a great bodyguard though. He canonically fought and won against multiple assassins until they pulled Void Powers. Unless you are a specially equipped overseer or another Void power user, you don't have a chance against those. After he gets his mark, he is also canonically stronger than Daud and all the assassins.
@@TheDennys21 I can confirm, just replaced the game for an achievements run (up to Brigmore Witches) and all the little differences for your actions and subtle worldbuilding outside of cutscenes that you have to read, search for and listen into to understand is awesome. You feel like you're in a grounded, living city with different screws, nuts and cogs moving around with or without your intervention
I seriously wish there were more games like Dishonored and Fallout New Vegas where the world genuinely makes you feel like your choices matter. I have yet to see another game that has a Choice and Consequence System that's this in-depth.
Tbh that last clip is ultimate disrespect on Corvo's part. Dude's like public enemy number 1 with wanted posters literally all over the city, and he signs the guest book with his full name before killing/kidnapping a highly influential figure at her own party. Pretty much an ultimate F- you to the state. Love it.
Don't forget that he's also wearing the mask of a famous outlaw, as far as the government knows there were two wanted men who were possibly there. Of course they blame the masked felon and write off Corvo being there. (Pretty dumb of them to not connect the dots and realise who the felon is...)
lmao I also did that, and I was so shocked to see Corvo just putting his full name on the guest list I was like, bruh, aren't you on the wanted list? Why are you so casual about it?
Imagine how it must be from the other perspective. You throw a party and either one of your sisters gets abducted or she, and perhaps other people, are killed. And in the aftermath a servant tells you that your guest book was signed by the one dude everyone thinks has killed the empress and who might be the masked assailant considering that only a short time after he escaped, high profile people started dropping and a masked dude started roaming streets. Or imagine an investigator coming to the slaughter that the high end party has become and seeing that name in last place in the guest book.
There's a detail that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere: at the hideout when Havelock is talking about Emily's education (after some mission I don't remember), in low chaos he mentions teaching math, science, astronomy; while in high chaos he mentions teaching religion, politics, etc
I think doing the Lady Boyle party mission in complete stealth without being detected and not killing anyone while signing the guest book is the biggest FU that you can do. It's like saying "yes, I'm THAT good". Killing's easy, but not killing and still avoid being seen - that's hard.
There is also a medium chaos scenario for the boat ride with Samuel by the end...There he will berate Corvo for killing but will not consider him one of the worst people alive and will not betray him
@@waserjo7834 its true. i got that. he doesnt say you are the worst of all. he says he is disappointed. also he doesnt fire the warning pistol. No idea how to get it though, it's just my normal playthrough
@@waserjo7834 As I heard before (but never checked it for myself) you have to be at high chaos and spare all story targets. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-an-wuHsWi74.html
@@waserjo7834 you basically have to have a mix of low and high chaos ratings on your missions, with the final one being high. Kill enough people to get high chaos at the end but not TOO many people
Dishonored has a way of humanizing NPCs that is unparalleled. It’s the only game I think I’ve ever genuinely felt bad for killing an NPC and each time I had to it was a true moral conundrum
Emily's change in personality depending on your chaos is the pure example of Parental influence. I love how any one who wants the best for her would want to keep the chaos as down as possible. I certainly did.
For sure, really makes the games’ replay value that much more concrete, there’s so many different ways to go about playing it and experiencing what it has to offer. Fantastic game, a masterpiece
When the assassin talks to Daud about Corvo escaping, the dialogue also changes if Corvo doesn't kill anyone but gets detected, so there are 3 possible dialogues there between Daud and the assassin Also, if you get the low chaos ending but kill Calista (you kill her yourself) the game won't fail, it will continue as normal and in the end when Calista would be hugging her uncle will change to Cecilia hugging someone, most likely her sister. If you kill both Calista and Cecilia it will show a random citizen hugging another random citizen Also also, if in low chaos you kill either Piero or Sokolov the elixir that saves everyone from the plague will never exist so the last images will be of high chaos but the Outsider will narrate as if it was low chaos
@cameronnovy3718 If you don't get detected and don't kill anyone, I believe there isn't any dialogue. It's as if no one knows you've escaped so no one can tell Daud about it. It has been a while since I last played, though, so I may be wrong in this
@@daggers7765 If you go back to get your gear and have to restart the refinery, that's what gives you the dialogue. It's something like "Corvo is gone and nobody saw anything, and it seems the refinery is up and running again".
@@daggers7765 There are also some assassins that check the refinery just before you go inside, they are currently looking for you at that point. So yeah I think if you skip the refinery you move before they check on you again.
In the final mission of Dishonored 2 you can find this drawing 1:18 along with a drawing of Jessamine in Corvo's quarters. Corvo kept them for all those years and even had them framed.
It's implied that Dishonored's cannon ending is dependant on how you play the first mission of Dishonored 2. This is because The Outsider will address you differently dependent on your chaos level for the first mission. On high chaos, he will refer to Corvo as a killer and make references to the high chaos ending of Dishonored 1, while on Low Chaos, he will refer to the events of Dishinored 1 as they would be in a Low Chaos playthrough.
This is one of the best games I've ever played. I just beat this game on Low Chaos yesterday, I got Clean Hands, Ghost, Mostly Flesh and Steel, and Shadow achievements for that playthrough. Later on today, I'm going to start my High Chaos playthrough.
If your on Xbox and doing high chaos, map RT to slash. LT to block and RB to use ability,. This means you can spam slash and dodge easily whilst blocking
I'm a Low Chaos kind of guy but I have to admit that the final mission is much more spectacular on a High Chaos run; the weather, difficulty, and the interaction with the targets have a much more climactic feel to them.
Yep the low chaos version of the mission imo feels like a victory lap as a reward for keeping things as clean as possible you get a breeze of a mission. While the high chaos variant is pretty much the final test everything and everyone is out to get you even the environment it’s pretty damn cool.
The final mission on high chaos is what corvos revenge TRULY is as Samuel says "I'm going to tell them your coming", he wasn't doing that so they'd stop you he knew they couldn't literally no one could, but telling them made you hack and slash your way through every single person on the isle and truly fulfills the culmination of high chaos, one man cutting his way through an entire fortified island and not a single survivor in sight
There's a lot of attention to detail in this game, it's one of my all-time favorites. Also, with Lydia and the keyhole, you can go in and talk to her. You can tell her that Piero was spying on her, and also flirt with her by asking if you could join her. I think her response varies depending on your Chaos level, but with Low Chaos she says she'd be happy for you to join if it weren't for everything going on with the city. Edit: I found this out when I was doing an exploration playthrough, I went and tried to see all the dialogue and interactions as well as differences made throughout the game. So being able to open the door is what made me open the door and discover the dialogue with her.
@@Tank82111 i tried using windblast on it. The broken door pieces will hit Callista and causes the game to be over, due to "irreconcilable hostilities."
On my first run I went High Chaos because I enjoyed the gore and violence Turning the corner into Corvo's room and seeing the horrendous wall-wide mask drawing is forever etched in my brain This game is awesome
15:41 Interesting thing about this: There's a variation to this High Chaos scene where Samuel doesn't actually fire off a round into the air to signal to the guard stationed there that you're there. In my own High Chaos playthrough, I just killed hostiles situated in the same area as the mission's target and never killed civilians when I got that scene variation. I also never let myself get seen and did a few extra actions that likely normally positively affects your level of Chaos.
the building becoming full of weepers is legit the most shocked I was in my high chaos playthrough. mostly cuz I was hoping i'd hear dialogue that makes them seem even MORE on edge lol my favorite part about this game was definitely the stuff you hear people say, like in the campbell mission where two overseers kill that third dude who was sick. I didnt get to see that one until I did my first ghost playthrough after nearly 80 hours of playtime
There's also another low/high chaos version when you engage Daud in fight. In low chaos he tells his assassins to back off, that "this is his fight."( applies even after you defeat him and then he asks for mercy) In high chaos he orders every single assassin to attack and kill Corvor. (Appplies In high chaos even after you defeat him and he asks for mercy) PS: Great content and I also hope another episode about low/high chaos changes!!
Also, if you fight and Spare him in Low Chaos, the whalers/assassins all become non-hostile and you can explore/loot the Flooded District in peace. Meanwhile if you kill him or Spare him in High Chaos they all stay hostile and attack on sight.
If I remember correctly if you take all story targets in non-lethal fashion he mentions that he should've done the same instead of killing people when he asks for mercy
High chaos is better in gameplay but worse in consequences. Though hearing the outsider say he had a lot of fun kinda encourages you to go massacre mode at least once
despite how much fun being a badass assassin in this game is i always feel a bit bad because you can feel the world around you just get worse and worse as time goes on, absolutely brilliant world building
I remember playing this game for the first time in 2017. I was really amused by Corvo’s powers especially those quick assassinations and the rat spawns and I was hurt when samuel alerted the enemies on the final mission so I chopped his head and feed his bodies to the piranhas.
bruh him alerting makes no sense, oh hey let me take you to the hideout where they are hiding emily, oh by the way you suck let me alarm everyone your here? Bruh why even take him there, if he is the "worst man alive." I thought of him as a homie up until then, but he also lowkey stupid
Okay, I didn't kill that many people so Samuel was disappointed but didn't turn on me If he did...I probably would have done the same as you. My first reaction when I saw Samuel turning on me in the video was rage and the urge to kill him I guess this really says something about me oof
I actually didn't like the way he talked to me in my high chaos run so I ended up killing him before getting off the boat and before he could alert them. They showed his gravestone afterwards that did make me a lil' sad
Imagine having an influential noblewoman go missing at her own party, only to see the name of your Empress' alleged assassin signed in the guest book. How big of a flex is that?
This game is just too good, And the high chaos ending ( more like MAX chaos ) is heart breaking, that Samuel says you're the worst and shots the sky to warn everyone on the isle that you're coming Yeah you can choose spare most people to get low chaos ending but still, damn
It actually suits the playstyles of the player. In the low chaos there are less enemies and people are more relaxed, which is advantageous for ghost style. In high chaos there are more rats, weepers, enemies are more intense, which is actually good for players who wants high body counts.
I always kill Samuel on high chaos, considering he has the plague it is a much more kind fate than slowly degrading & becoming a weeper, he's far too good a man to deserve that kind of suffering. Sokolov's test subject is another instant mercy kill for me too. I was actually so damn confused the first time I'd made it to kingsparrow island on low chaos to see it was a bright, beautiful day, as in the 11 years that this game has been out I had never once beaten it on low chaos until like a week and a half ago. btw some of the wanted posters actually have to do with stage detection's, if you are never spotted nobody actually knows about the masked felon 'cause nobody has ever seen Corvo running around in his mask. so many little details here & there that I'd just never paid attention to until rather recently.
It's interesting to see how easier the game becomes overall while doing Low Chaos, since the people are less paranoid about you. But, on exchange, it's harder to play it, since you're very restricted when it comes to combat.
I hated Havelock since then, the power hungry bastard betrays Corvo no matter how low or high his chaos is With over 1,330 hours playing Dishonored, I always suspected that Havelock was up to no good while I was away on missions like abducting Sokolov, giving Lady Boyle to her lover or exposing Hiram for the shitshow he caused during his time as the Lord Regent
You're kidding me right? 😂 Havelock and the rest of the Loyalist Conspiracy (except for Samuel, Callista, Piero) definitely gave off a "will betray you after you've done our dirty work" lol You can see it from their way their character model looks and also the plot where a party helps you dethrone someone else only to end up taking their place and betraying you is so cliché I'm surprised people didn't see it coming 😅 Still Dishonored gamewise and storywise are one of my favourites.
15:50 wow that bastard really warned the opps. I never thought we made him that upset , now I gotta go replay this game just to get to that scene again. Man watching these videos brings back nostalgia of when I took weeks of loading saves trying to get the ghost trophy. Good times, better memories.
The best thing about that scene on high chaos is that it isn't a cut scene, so if you have good reflexes (or have watched the video and know what's coming), you can hinder him to get the warning shot off by silently shooting him with your crossbow. The ending will also change slightly based on whether you killed him or not.
I replayed it this week and holy cow I must have grown alot in the last 8 years. When I first played I practically had to fight through every level and I think I got alot of the side characters killed or accidentally killed them. This playthrough I maybe was spotted once every other mission and killed maybe one person when I was. It almost seemed too easy but it was rewarding to know I just did a better job.
you do realise that the lighthouse scene has a medium chaos scene where Samuel says that's he's a little bit disappointed in Corvo and says that he thought that he just done it for the killings, and doesn't fire off the pistol.
Truly bro thank you so much for compiling everything into a video. This is an amazing game with so many small differences to spot, and I appreciate you, despite the fact that this game isn’t like a trendy game or anything making this video. Thank you liked and subbed
Well said, friend. This game, in my opinion, is goated. I have an outsider mark tattoo on my left arm. Didn't wanna get it on my hand for my job. Lol. But yeah.
The picture at 1:13 is actually in Dishonored 2 if people didn’t realize. It’s in one of the hallways to the right of the Royal Protectors chambers from the balcony.
Absolutely amazing to see people making videos about my favorite game of all time. Considering it's been 10 years, it really shows people still enjoys this masterpiece. Really informative and interesting video, keep up the great work! also you just earned a sub
Nice work! It really is fascinating to see these sligt minor differences in the game, never noticed it in my own playthroughs. Keep it up, hope to see more videos about dishonored series
You missed one,in the mission to deal with high overseer Campbell, in an overseer area. If you're low-chaos you can hear one ask to be killed by his friends since he thinks he has the plague and he recites the strictures. In high-chaos, he gets accused of having the plague and he gets killed without remorse from his friends
I remember doing low chaos to do all the neat alternatives to killing and stumbling upon the daddy drawing by Emily and I almost cried a little. Nothing plucks my heart more than a father and child relationship
I've only done a single high chaos playthrough so I don't know about many differences between low and high. There are two things that stuck with me though: 1. Emily was kinda dark towards the end. Not only the drawings, but dialogue too. One dialogue stuck with me. It was something like this when you meet her: "Did you kill them all? Good cuz I was going to when I become Empress." or something similar to that. Didn't really expect it at that moment and it caught me off guard 2. Samuel telling me how bad I am and using that warning shot really made me feel truly bad for a moment because of everything I've done
Low chaos: Leave the location undetected and render enemies and main targets unconscious. (Or kill the main targets) High chaos: Kill all enemies you come across, including main targets. I had started playing a few weeks and I'm almost done.
People talk about RDR 2's details but no one knows Dishonored was the first one to add such easter eggs and incredile details. One of the best games in that gaming history!
Such a cool video! I love how Dishonored does this in such an understated but still palpable way. It's all there for the player to find, but we're not getting hit over the head with it to make the point. The presence of bigger consequences leads us to exploring and discovering the small things, if we're so inclined. Thanks for this compilation 👍
Very well made video. Having played the game on different chaos levels very recently, I'm sure there are some intermediate levels of high and low. On my high chaos run I still did much stealthing and didn't rampage through everything. So it was still the high chaos finale, but Samuel didn't alert the guards. He chased me off his boat and wasn't too friendly about it but he still didn't tell me I was the worst of the bunch and also didn't alert the guards. This game is better than most RPGs on world building and decisions and consequences. Everyone who likes it should definitely play it multiple times and explore as many approaches as possible
the game is how it should be played = Low Chaos the game is how we play it = High Chaos finished 4th time just last night... and for the first time with Low Chaos felt amazing!
When I first saw that Emily drew the mask on high chaos, I froze and felt shivers up my spine. It's so chilling to understand how that kid was impacted with what Corvo would do.
Tips for true pacifist runners. Always talk with lord Pendleton after dealing with his brother and check near your bed. You’ll get a rune and some cash. Just like with Pendleton, you’ll find a time next to your bed for taking care of lady Boyle, and it’s from her sisters no less, but you have to sign the guest book so they know exactly who to send it to and exactly who had so many chances to make it their last night alive while also figuring out which Boyle was which.
I recently did a full ghost & clean hands playthrough, did the flooded district without turning the refinery on, and the guard at daud's didnt even talk to daud, I assume that means that corvo wasnt even detected to have escaped
Great vid, youve earned a sub. Another interesting thing is that if you get high chaos but not TOO high (kill just about enough people to give high chaos rating but not literally everyone), in the final mission samuel has a whole different speech. He says "i'm a little disappointed corvo, its like youve gone out of your way to be brutal"
Sorry if it is badly written, I am Russian and used Google Translate If you run past Daud's assassins so that they notice you, but without killing them, the assassin will report to Daud that Corvo went through all the blockposts effortlessly
I'm playing dishonored on my channel in high chaos and its very interesting especially because the dialogue changes as well as the environment around you.best change is probably the end mission
Maybe it's because I didn't get very far, but I felt like the Chaos system punished you extremely harshly extremely quickly. Meanwhile doing Low Chaos prevented you from using basically any of your gadgets and tools outside of sleep bolts. Does anyone want to weigh in on this? Does it get better further into the game? It's been years since I tried the game, so my memory might not be accurate.
@@chainjaw8013 yup it's nice that the dunwall city trials are a welcome method to train you in both stealth and combat while in game you only use your powers, bonecharms and gadgets when it is needed like a good assassin
@@chainjaw8013 well if you studied the lore (or watched the tails of dunwall the Pierro part ;P) you know that the void is connected to the dreamworld so aside from personal nightmares that the main lead understandably has after what he's been through the outsider basically trains Corvo (who at this point is a master swordsman anyway) but also gives him a warning what he might become the drop kill of jessamine is such an example!
@@selemanecu this is new. someone wasn't paying enough attention. oh well.. i was already going for a 3rd playthrough 👍( ͡ᵔ ‿‿ ͡ᵔ👍) here Is a double W for the info. W¯\_( ͡ᵔ ‿‿ ͡ᵔ)_/¯W
When i saw the difference in the pictures from low chaos to high chaos and the dialogue she says when she opens the door, I felt like a father who changed his innocent child which is not a good thing I now regret playing in high chaos
Yo Emily's drawings are heart breaking! Edit: The world seems sick on high chaos, everyone is sick and tired and they all talk as if they're just done!
I could go paragraphs on paragraphs about how much I love this game and how it's the *_most_* fun I've ever had in a game. But I won't and just say, great video showing the differences!
The way I killed, Lord Regent was really cool in my opinion. I was being spotted by a tall boy. Then I possessed an overseer, walked into his quarters, and unpossessed the overseer and decapitated him
If you get low chaos in all missions besides the second last one samuel’s reaction is different. He’s rather less disappointed, and he doesn’t tell them your coming
That's not entirely true. I've gotten High Chaos in all missions but still got that scene. It's more just the number of NPCs killed, whether they were hostile or not, and other additional actions that affect your level of Chaos that dictate which High Chaos scene with Samuel you get in the last mission.
It's about how much Chaos you get. Low gets you the Low Chaos version, but if you're in High, there's an internal threshold for determining how Samuel acts.
There's a version of when Samuel is taking you to the Light House, it's a mix of the two shown in the video. I think it only happens if you kill within a certain range.
Played this game 3 times. Always went for low chaos. Couldn't stomach Emily seing Corvo as a murderer instead of dad. And they say gamers want only to kill.
In dishonored 2 the conversations bettween citizens and guards also change depending on high or low chaos. In high chaos most of them fight each other or kill each other in low chaos it's just normal talking
I didn't save her uncle and she survived. A lot of these changes aren't high/low chaos as some depend on detection or methods used to neutralise targets but Callista can survive even if her uncle dies
When I confronted daud I just ran past everyone and attacked him because he sends everyone away. I spared him and I didn't have to attack anyone or even attempt stealth lol
It is humblingly great despite or even because of its focus on few aspects, rather than the sequel that feels bloated and disjointed. It really is a simple game, but it's executed almost masterfully. Only objectively bad thing is the pacing after Daud captures you ... it fixes itbwhen you finish that level, but that section is the worst in the entire game in my opinion.
Yeah and by far. From the design of the map to its areas to those annoying plant (?) motherfuckers that shoot their acidic cum at you everything is so annoying in that level.
Problem with the flooded district is in every other mission there are so many alternate paths but the flooded district, specifically dauds base has only one entrance.
I like the sequel a lot better. The world just felt more flavorful. Everything in Dishonored just felt like "Blah blah blah, look at me, I'm a fantasy world"
@@hidan407 Not a bug. Some of these do not depend on Chaos level, but rather on your choices. I've played through with a "professional" approach, where I kill nobody except for the targets, and triggered some of these despite always staying at low Chaos.
Honestly I feel so bad for Emily in High Chaos... Just knowing what her dad's done and the increase in rats takes such a toll on her mental health. Poor little girl.
Emily is the sole reason i don't do high chaos, it really broke my heart seeing her change from a sweet young girl to something else influenced by her father...
I actually prefer how grim high chaos makes the mood of this game, although if I were to choose a canon play through it’d probably be low chaos but kill most of the targets.
Finishing up my mostly flesh and steel playthrough on high chaos. It's at least my 8th playthrough and I'm still seeing or hearing stuff for the first time. This game is an underrated masterpiece.
