I remember when I worked in our family business back in the 60s, 70s and earlly 80s I used to work evenings and weekends -- those were some of the best times I spent with my mom and dad
@@vegandmac You are such a pompous fool , your food miles will do more damage to environment , and chemicals in your food kill , you are also causing damage. Don’t lecture me , I farmed for my whole life , I see what’s happening .I even had members of my family destroy there lives with your crank diet. Animal welfare is very important to farmers , the cows would not provide milk if they are being abused. You carry on with your lifestyle fad , but don’t pretend to normal hard working people , you have sole rights on caring for environmental and animal welfare. Vegans do as much damage, have there special food produce shipped in by air from all parts of world which are out of season to your location, and many items can only be grown in specific climates ,doing huge damage to poor countries , with out contributing to local economy as the plantations are owned and controlled by large foreign factories. Raping cows ,are you totally insane, tell that to someone who has been raped , disgusting how dare you. Are you so unaware of what happens in nature. Cattle are prey animals they have short lives, and brutal deaths In wild .Grow up and try reading a few books go out and smell fresh air , open your mind to the real world . Care about your fellow humans, be kind to animals .
@@maryschillinger2909 no I have no need of artificial food additives, I eat a healthy balanced diet with low food miles and plenty of good variations . A typical farmers diet , which gives farmers the stamina to work long hours of demanding chores.
@@vegandmac What a stupid fool you are , you cannot accept that they are animals , they are not human ,being like most people are aware. Are you prepared to eat grass to live, no imports of food from thousands of miles, eating only what is growing locally , or are you just a boring fool with nothing better to do than annoy. Your weird lifestyle is foolish for your health and is damaging the areas of land and the jungle being destroyed to grow your nuts and oils to keep you alive, and chemical supplements you have to swallow to replace good healthy milk and milk products . Subject closed milk is a part of good balanced diet , is proven the best and healthy. Not false milk full of chemicals and margarines , have you ever seen them being produced, disgusting I have, I did research into food industry. Enjoy your sad short time in the light . I feel truly sad for such a bitter person . I’m am truly disgusted by your RAPE remarks, Rape victims around the country must also be disgusted . Have you ever seen a cow being mated by bull , I think not , it’s all roses and candles in your world, real world is very different. Try spending time on farm learn where your food comes from , work with animals, then try lecturing me about animal welfare.
Nice to see you "interviewing" your mother. Today, you set up your camera in different positions capturing new angles and perspectives - nice. Greetings from Glostrup, Danmark.
When you consider the overhead, work, long days, risk, profit, paying $3.00 per gallon in California is really a bargain. Thanks for your videos, farmers of all kinds are truly unsung heroes.
I don't live on farm buts its a dream im a city girl and I just learning everything and u are so lucky to be with them all love baby calf they r so beautiful.
@Las Vegan this video is made by people who live in the city an know noting about farms just like you. The images that they put in the movie is not like it is in reality , the farms in the movie are unique cases that happens on 0.00000001 procent of the farms. in every sector you have a few bad ones...
Yahoo, finally we meet the wonderful lady who brought the amazing Saskdutchkid into the world. I don't know how I'd like to have my time off work be filled with doing work related jobs, but I do like the idea of how skilled and mature the people are who grew up on a farm are. Thanks for another great video.
So many educational & enjoyable vlogs in the past, but this one pops to the top. Your explanations as you walk us through the procedure are exceptional,. When it come to giving a cow a pill half the size of a baseball bat or reaching in for AI , then you know we are well beyond the intro class to dairy farming. 🚜 🚜 🚜🐄🐄🐄🐄 🚜 🚜 🚜
The excitement of my day when I see a video pop up and take time to watch it just before going in and help do surgery on a human patient. Great video 😀. Now it’s time to go make this lady slim and pretty in the OR 😀.
Hey Jan, I am from the States and told my friend who lives in Regina, Sask. about your channel and he said Checked out the video link & instantly recognized the Saskatchewan accent. Good quality videos he makes! I agree, always great vids. that calf carrier was really great. and NO HAT vids on Fridays...HA.
You're videos are as equal in quality, as the farm you and your family keep!!! Thanks for always being a gentleman; in the way you carry yourself as well as your attitude towards your family, and the work that you do! Classy 🐄
Great video Jan! Nice to meet your mum, of course she is taking care of the babies....look how well she raised you😜. I really like the ease in which you are able to change gates, great idea. Thanks for sharing your evening with us.
The best way to change gates and not have trouble with the nuts is lube the threads with lots of grease or use anti seize great stuff. I have fallen in love with your calf bar and mover, so much different then when I raised calves. I use to go get my calves in my pickup and I had a topper and I would put them in the back of my pickup and once I started moving they would lay down and go to sleep and when I got home I would put each one in a calf dome and I would get get 10 most of the time and occasionally I would get 2or3 extra and double up when it was cold out not in the summer cuz I didn't want them to scour. Did you buy that calf mover for the payloader or did you make it ?
When giving the bonus pellet, how do you ensure you haven’t entered the cows lungs 🫁 vs the stomach? Just curious, in nursing we listen to lung sounds and abdominal sounds on humans as a way to tell where we are, also curious if you could dunk the pellet in molasses and the cow intake it orally willingly thus reducing the chance of injury with that bolus gun :) sorry just curious it’s fascinating to me all the work one has to do on the farm
Since we went on lockdown, the ONLY thing that brings me happiness is watching the farmchannels like this one, OurWyomingLife, SheepishlyMe, TheHoofGP, and FarmerTyler Rance (and of course this channel. I don't know why I love this content so much. I'm just a math teacher and wannnabe author in southern oregon. Thank you for sharing the reality
You bring those memories back of my Agricultural lectures..am so passionate about farming' and Dairy Farming being my favorite field. Big up!..❤️❤️❤️🇿🇦
@Non Typical Reminds me of something I read in the 90s where engineers joked about an alternative acronym for the PCMCIA card ... People Can't Memorize Computer Industry Acronyms
Non Typical You might want to do some research on John McCarthy (the guy who came up with the term Artificial Intelligence) before you go calling him ignorant and an idiot. Might provide some insight into the minimality of your intellect, especially since you don’t understand that acronym meaning is based on context.
That was interesting. Caught a few of your vids...so far. Think I'll subscribe to your channel. I also like how you treat your calls. Also how many employees do you have. How big is your dairy?...steveb boise, id
your videos are inspiring and informative. great job you do at your farm. it would be great of you could make a video about selling milk economics and milk quota pricing for your farm. Thanks
Woo hoo another fun video thankyou Jan for taking us on the journey with you...Your handsome face is the best part then the calves....do you ever enjoy being with the calves? I know its your job but do you think some of the calves are cute and do u hang out with any of them as animals? I just wondered....also with the new born calves have u guys ever though of having walls where the calves could see and talk to the calf next door instead of being all alone? I just wondered if u love the calves or the big cows?
50 years ago there were a couplE of dairy farms around herev(San Diego) but no more and I'll probably never visit one. But just found your channel and find it interesting. Good quality video and content thanks.

@@saskdutchkid Yeah if you upload immediately, then the VT won't be fully uploaded to HD You only upload the SD at 144p which is really bad visually and it means anyone pressing play on your VT will get buffering unless they manually downsize to match the 144p. If you schedule then that takes all that trouble out of it as the VT is fully uploaded to the Quality index you use which is 1080p. If you need to upload there and then then-premier for 15-30 mins for best quality, plus it alerts your audience of your VT.
