Evercade EXP & VS NEW FEATURES - New Library Update, 2 Carts Gone Legacy and Game Of The Month! 

I think this new library feature is f@cken great. I love how I can now keep track of all of my carts and what games are on them.

I think people were expecting more from this update, but I actually like the new Library. For me it's not about keeping track of the carts I have, but the games themselves. Nice to genre sort and read descriptions or see screenshots right from the device itself, as opposed to going to a website. It's a harmless "nice to have" feature.

Just turned my EXP on after a few months and updated it. I like the new library feature, especially as i havent collected any Evercade carts for a while now (lack of money is the issue). Its good for checking on the go which carts you have and haven't got, as obviously you can't look at your shelf when you're away ;-) It's also handy if you want to play a game but can't remember which cart it's on.

This is fantastic, as an aging gamer with a memory of goldfish, I look at my collection and know I want to play something specific but can't recall what cart bla bla, this aids with this issue massively, what was I saying.........

I like the store idea, I just hope it's not the early stage of a digital download store. I'm into the Evercade for physicality, not digital, as I imagine most people are

Just spent solid hour - putting in every cart to get it to recognise and update - all went smoothly - it’s a nice to have feature but most importantly they look to have vastly improved the patching of carts which was very much required. Looks like evercade could be moving to having an account (like having a steam account) which would be nice if they introduce cloud storage for saves rather than dependency on cart

I’m on the mostly like the library side of things… personally don’t love the coming soon section, feels too close to adverts, but I do really like the games library given that you can filter it… yes you either look at the carts themselves, or Google it, etc., but I think it’s very nice to finish a particular game and then filter by more in that genre all on system.

Can safely say I’ll never use that library feature but I’m enjoying the game of the month despite the issues you mention in the other video.

I've just been informed that my Evercade EXP has arrived. Been meaning to take the plunge for years now, but the current EXP being retired is what finally made me do so. Unfortunate for my wallet, because my most-wanted cartridge is the Oliver Twins Collection!

I really do t want to update. I'm scared I case these legacy carts stop working. I games from 1990 that still work, 3-4 year lifespan of carts is unacceptable. They should not push out updates without thorough testing. I know Blaze are a small company but breaking games we've paid for is not on.

Crazy, name every game on Piko Collection 2 without looking... Yeah I can't either, and some you may of forgotten what they look like. Instead of inserting a cart, I used to go to the Evercade cart web page to remind my self and the built-in encyclopedia will save me doing that. You were warming to the idea that you could see games you had forgotten about. 😁 It's a useful feature and will save having to get out of the chair to dig a cart out when you can quickly look on your machine. It's better than cart breaking Auto Fire any way. I'm sure you come round. 🙂 Thanks for the updates at the end, kinda lame they can post this on stuff on something completely unrelated yet can't post it on the Evercade web page blog... Maybe the next library update will unlock the bonus games when you have both games that unlock it in your library so you can play on the EXP or in the VS by just having one of the cartridges in your console.

Now that it knows what collections I own on my EXP with the library feature (I don’t own the VS) I can’t see why Blaze don’t let EXP owners the opportunity to unlock the dual cart bonus games. 🤷‍♂️ Also going so well with the updates, inserting all my carts and patching and only my Toaplan collection 1 got bricked 😂 ahh well only one cart to get changed with this update. Have replaced 3 over the past few firmware updates! Also I kind of feel this feature is a glorified advert for future cartridges and another way to play into the OCD/FOMO collector mindset.

i think the Evercade VS was the best video game purchase i've ever made. i'll never forget the Sunday when it showed up. i had just discovered it the day before, online, and had it shipped via Amazon Prime (don't worry, i've long since cancelled Prime, and only use Amazon when absolutely necessary).

The library just feels like a forced advert for the games.

I'm kinda glad they added the library feature because it's cemented my resolve to stick with the December Update Hotfix firmware. Incidentally I did notice there was a hotfix firmware released today for this firmware update which really doesn't instill much confidence. Keep up the awesome work!

I was wondering what that second update tonight was for. As for the library feature, it's neat but I was already doing something just like it on a text file I keep on my computer. It feels more like a marketing gimmick IMO but at least it doesn't feel like a big ad and isn't useless. I'm disappointed it didn't fix Retro Dodo on EXP (neither update asked to update the cart). Even after this second update tonight, Retro Dodo still runs the same on EXP. I did try force patch on the cart but that didn't fix it.

Wow, looks really good. I haven't played it for a while. So I stopped buying nore cartridges until I played the later ones I bought, but didn't really play much.

I didn't realise actua soccer was on the evercade, i loved playing it back on the PS1! Definitely will be picking that cart up soon as.

So instead of fixing games that were reported as broken and reportedly fixable in time for this update (like Cybernoid 2) the priority was creating a new front end to further drive FOMO in people concerned about numbers? I've already seen multiple reports of carts being erased. I'm not in any hurry to update to this...

Had a gut feeling Codemasters would vanish with the EA purchase. A shame a company with a great history and that was keen to work with smaller local outfits like Evercade will probably be ran into the gorund making yearly F1 titles.

I haven't updated my VS yet, but I was curious to see if the Namco collections were also visible on the VS library view, and looks like they were at 11:05. Thanks for answering a question I didn't even need to ask :)

I've just this week ordered my first couple Cartridges, Codemasters and Duke 1. I haven't even decided which hardware yet and one of carts has gone legacy. This is what has put me off Evercade until now. Seemingly fragile carts, haven't seen any new stock for the VS anywhere, long waits for cart restocks. Duke Nukem 1&2 got me interested but no stock anywhere but secondary markets at inflated prices for a weeks. The short term nature of the licensing leading to these Legacy carts just seems strange. It's money for old rope for the license holders. I get that they may wanna sell them elsewhere but why cut off additional revenue streams for decades old software.

Library looks like it’s encouraging collecting like Panini or Pokémon where you buy a crap cart just to move from 23 to 24 😅

What's the situation for people who didn't update the firmware last time and are therefore jumping from a much older version of the firmware to the current version? Is this what causes carts to brick? Similarly if people have carts which are new or haven't been played in ages so they have missed a previous update and are then trying to install the latest one? Can it update consoles and carts which have different versions of firmware or does it expect them to have all had all the previous updates to the firmware in order, otherwise it bricks the cart?

Yeah, it's a feature that's not offering much for me, but it's there... and tucked away enough. Seems some people love it though.

The thing that worries me with the legacy carts is if I update and it kills my cart how am I supposed to replace it.

Yeah man I'm with you. The Library update seems largely pointless. Yes it looks nice but I can't help but think why. The cynic in me thinks that it's just a sales pitch by Blaze, saying 'hey your collection is looking great but you're still missing out on these!', plus there's the 'coming soon' bit as well. As for the rest of the updates, we'll I'm not convinced they'll make cart updating and more reliable. Plus, Donut Dodo is still very slow on EXP. I do wish they'd fix it!

Since the update alwas awakening/Cathedral cart is no longer recognised. Anyone else have this issue or is it coincidence and my cart has died?

i doubt they'll let us eventually play a game w/o the cartridge inserted. people might then be willing to copy all their carts, resell them on ebay, and that's money Blaze doesn't get.

Wasn't the atomic theme supposed to be exclusive to people who bought the limited Duke VS?

Ugh tell me about it. The Technos Collection 1 for consoles is insane. It's hardly on sale, and when it is, it's 100, 200, or more. I barely bought an Evercade (learned about it recently) and that was the one collection I wanted the most. Can't get it xD.

This kinda exists already, in the back of those booklets we get which each collection. But I agree Crazy Burger totally pointless so far. It might be good to have a category where you could RANK them though?! 🤔. Maybe it could be laying the ground for something they are working on. Like you said. Maybe it could be DIGITAL versions of the carts?! Perhaps they have found a “unique” legal way to do it, linked to the machine itself. Which it can only be played on? Come to think of it. Isn’t this like the PLAYSTATION menu. Showing you what games you play/have/or saved?! Which you still need the HARD DISK to play?! 🤔. So far though, another useless idea. Like their other one: “If you like this, then why not try this game?!” 🙄

Is Library also on the EXP?

It's a very smart looking system but as you say other than seeing what's available it serves no other purpose .

I updated my VS today and the download was only 371MB, i see your was 414MB.

The update would be better if you could rate games and make favs not just show them..

this update makes me really worried because i feel blaze might be going digital only. if they did that i would stop buying games for my vs

It really is pointless. If I want to know what’s on a cart I can look it up on my phone in an instant or actually just look at the game itself. They way overhyped what they were working on. I was hoping I would have an excuse to update my Evercade. Very underwhelming.

The carts are fantanstic, but evercade hardware and joystick have no personality and no soul. I wishou I could put those carts on my PC.

Completely pointless update. Teased us about good things but we got actually nothing. Why blaze spent time doing this digital library instead of fixing actually issues. Evercade is a console running of physical cartridges, so we need to have physical library, so why they made this pointless stuff?
