Did you know that threre is a much more impressive high trail on the opposite side of the valley from Tengpoche? The Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche route offers terrific vistas over the deep valley and the Tengpoche monastery. Also a lots of wildlife and what is best, almost no trekkers. Tengpoche can be visited on the way down. Several big name western agencies have been using the High Scenic Trail for some years already on the way up instead of just going through Tengpoche twice.
We didn't knew about Mong La-Phortse trail. We still have Gokyo and three passes to cover from khumbu region. We'll keep Mong La-Phortse on our bucket list for now and will definitely cover that trail on our next visit. Thank you for briefing us about such a pristine trail.
