I can’t believe that someone would steal another climbers gear! Not only could that be the difference between life and death, but it could end someone’s dream, then and there. I can’t imagine training for all that time, there for a month for more training, only to find out someone stole you equipment and you’re dream, all that work, dedication and money is over. It’s simply unfathomable!

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐑𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧 that’s why I watch these videos. There is little in this life that I fear but climbing Everest is one of them. There is just no way anything could get me on that mountain above base camp 😂. From the avalanches, sleeping at severe angles with high winds that could launch you off the mountain, the freezing cold, just having bad luck and getting edema and/or brain swelling, crossing the ice fall multiple times, crossing 100ft+ falls over ladders with spiked boots, yeah no way not worth it for me.

It truly is disgusting. I read that with few climbers due to CoVid-19 pandemic, the Sherpa on the Nepalese (Southern) side of the mountain used the break to bring down a massive 6 TONS OF GARBAGE! That's 6 tons packed out on the backs of men who think of this mountain as a Goddess. But there's still another estimated 10 tons left on that side alone. Seven decades of piggish behaviour on both sides of Chomolungma/Sagarmatha have left it the highest garbage dump and sewer on the planet. But the governments on either side don't care, and their laws aren't being enforced - so climbers who couldn't be bothered to pack out the required amount of 18kg of garbage, and just take a dump whenever and wherever or just dump their wag bags in a crevice simply don't get their deposit back - and they couldn't care less about a $4,000 refund either. (And only a few outfits have just recently introduced the use of wag bags, but most still don't even use them). So it's covered in garbage. And frozen human crap - approximately 14,000 KILOS of it each and every season! And unless the climbers step up their game and pack their garbage AND crap out with them - no one is going to want to go there just to climb up a mountain covered in human SHIT. There's literally TONS of it - particularly at the camps above either Base Camp, and Camp II on the Nepalese side has become such a mess that severe cases of illness are being reported each year from drinking ice-melt infected with fecal waste from around the camp and has ended the expeditions of many a climber in recent years. I don't know what they do on the Tibetan side, but the 'blue barrel' system at Base Camp on the Nepalese side is reportedly working well, with the filled barrels of human waste being hauled out by Yak to open pits at nearby Gorak Shep which is on the trail to and from EBC. BUT.. it's become painfully apparent that the waste from the pits is now leaching into the river of ice-melt that is the water source for over a million people further down the Khumbu Valley...So what SHOULD be the purest water on earth is already polluted! People at Everest are pigs, and something HAS TO CHANGE!

great stuff and very useful series, I see some negative comments though from people who are probably out of breath going upstairs. I understand the issues of rubbish etc on the mountain but you still gotta respect the strength of those who climb it, and the situation has improved these recent years with a lot of trash being brought down. In this modern day though doing anything outside the 'accepted' norm will be seen as controversial.

Exactly, it is a given that those who are not hardened climbers who have been doing it their whole lives will need a lot of assistance to make that scale of a summit. Scott Fischer and the 10th of May 1996 on the summit of the Everest If Scott Fischer became a great man, he didn't become so because he was an excellent mountaineer, much less because he was the head of the business Mountain Madness, even less because he was an American and let’s not talk about being a good family man; Scott Fischer has become a great man because the society, despite all its pitfalls, has failed to make out of him a social robot. This is the portrait I made of this personage while I was reading “The Climb: Tragic Ambitions on Everest” Anatoli Boukreev and G. Weston DeWalt, and this is also the most beautiful thing that could happen to a man.

The Sherpa on this expedition do EVERYTHING! Plus they had extra oxygen from Camp 3 to the Summit AND return - and Sherpa have to lug each one of those cylinders up to each camp - plus extra cylinders to the Summit for the descent - for each and every client! And these guys do not even have to pitch their own tents anywhere...No one would get anywhere without the Sherpa. But I thought it interesting that the Chinese law demands that a Sherpa accompany a Westerner to the Summit so that they don't defect into Nepal!

What cameras did you use? I’m guessing not GoPro? Really high resolution video! Nice job!

So this is up the south side of the mountain. Is this route easier/less dangerous than the north route? Its seems warmer.

Down at the lower camps they set up tiny tents where they dig a hole in the ground and then put one of those giant buckets in the hole. When they are full they screw on the big plastic top and ship it down the mountain to dispose of. Up higher on the mountain, you just try to find some rocks or something as far away from the camp and snow that may be used for drinking water to go to the bathroom.
