Amiibo’s outlived the trope of “figurine turned collectible/usable piece in game” of the early 2010s. Where as others like Skylanders and Disney Infinity died because their games were focused on that. Meanwhile, Amiibo support is for EVERYTHING, and they’re consistent on the new releases which is cool.
The Ganondorf amiibo is SO good They also did a big re-release for Zelda amiibos, I think I acquired like 8-10 more Zelda amiibos last year which were all either new or a re-release
It should be noted that you can scan the pyra and Mithra amiibos into Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for special rewards. (I don't believe you have to actually scan them to get the things though there are ways of getting them without needing them they just unlock them faster/earlier I believe it requires the DLC for the game for the amiibo-less unlocks. Which I mean, if you have Xenoblade 3 you may as well just get the DLC instead.) Edit: DLC is NOT required (still reccomend tho)
I wish there was more amiibo content. Had amiibo came after the switch the hype for them would still be there. There used to be a ton of games with amiibo features. More so, I just miss walking into a store and just seeing a section with amiibo just lined up for you to choose from.
Nintendo really struggled to balance amiibo content, either you get a whole mode / game or it just gave you like a couple measly coins. They kind of gave up on actually making major content for only amiibo use, and they also realized people usually buy for collecting purpose and very few people actually get their amiibo for games anymore, most just buy a couple for the characters they like and thats about it. Of course, I do really want them to experiment with amiibo content but they really flipfloped with adding too little or too much back in the day so I wouldn't think they want to do much with them now, mostly collectibles now
@@bekfstman9841 there were some really good ideas with amiibo that made a variety of them worth getting though, and that’s what I liked so much about them. If you had an animal crossing amiibo (and not one of the cards, it had to be a figure), you could use them with new leaf and get a little puzzle swap mini game or a cool single player survival game with your animal crossing characters. If you saw that it could do that then you just had to check it out, and it actually got me into the animal crossing series. Also I’m not gonna ignore the fact they had amiibo cards for animal crossing and the only other amiibo card was for like shadow mewtwo in Pokén tournament, they could have done so much more with amiibo cards. Then there were the subtle ones like Mario kart 8 where you’d get a cool Mii outfit depending on the amiibo you scanned (another way to get people to buy ones of different game series). Same with many other small games. If you had an amiibo you could probably use it with that game and get a cool item. And if you didn’t like the games, there were still the ones that looked really cool when they were from a unique series. The amiibo for king dedede is one I absolutely love and the stars on the thing he stands on are even cooler. They just needed more consistency with features you’d get with amiibo. That animal crossing example is spot on what gave value to getting some of them. They could keep the subtle stuff, but as long as there was some pretty cool feature an amiibo would unlock it’s golden. Sadly, unless it’s splatoon or some other game, amiibo support is only ever gonna be subtle and rarely include. Personally I think having more free games where you could scan a bunch of amiibo and unlock something new every time would be fun. If you didn’t wanna buy a whole new game, just get an amiibo and you’re satisfied for quite some time.
Legit the only amiibo I've ever legitimately thought of buying day one, and I ended up buying it later on. Big Man is amazing, even if you don't like Splatoon 3
Depends where you live from some of them many just aren't shipped to places due to smaller audience size ( or their just really popular and were bought out ), which state you live in
I still think it's robbery that amiibos usually cost at least double the price of an ssbu challenger pack and doesn't contain a code or something so you can actually play as the fighter
We just got a Sora Amiibo this year and to think Nintendo would have stopped making Amiibo by now ever since they were released in 2014 not counting the Pokémon Rumble U NFC figures which were basically the prototype version of that
The only thing I really use the amiibo for is to put one my shelf right above all my video games and stuff and I think they just look cool lol. I did scan a few of them in Mario kart for the different mii skins, they are kind of cool!
I really hope that for the next Nintendo console they keep nfc. Amiibos may not be as popular as they once were but it would still be cool for them to continue amiibo
