This is REALLY BAD! Things just got worse for the car market in 2024... truck, car and SUV prices are coming down after slow sales from Ford, Chevrolet, RAM, Dodge and Toyota.
You're right but too many will cave and buy a vehicle because it will fall into what they can afford instead of waiting until dealers have to sell their cars and can't afford to hold them or lose any more money at auction.
@@RileyReneau yeah they don’t pay there car salespeople they work mon- sat long days Thursday till 9:30 -10 .. they run the lots , ruin there shoes shovel the snow off the cars ( for the owner ) if that state snows .. for little to no money .. unless u r a family member yo the owner now that’s different I r taken care of
Ford’s problem is you can’t get common parts for vehicles that aren’t even that old. So you buy an F150 thinking I’ll be able to keep it 10-15 years and you can’t. I could see niche cars but not ones they sell millions of. I’d stay away from ford for that reason. Of course no vehicle today will be able to be kept that long. All by design. Planned obsolescence.
Cost of living is out of control not just in U.S. but all over the world. You are lucky if you have $200 left each month after paying all your bills ....
@@williamrose7184 i vote Democrat and will continue as long as it's against an inept, adjudicated sex offender, and a convicted felon who lies every time his mouth moves. Everything I own is paid for and I have no money worries.
Yeah it will the difference now is your not getting away with 3-5000 down like the old days … you need to save and put 20-25,000 down minimum or your payments gonna be 1400 a month
@@claytonhess5512 not big enough, I need a super duty truck with all the bells and whistles that lets everyone know that I'm a short guy with a small pecker.
Oh..! Didn't you say the whole of car dealers has collapsed? You thumbnail is just a little misleading, do ya think? Maybe you don't care? Maybe it just doesn't matter..Nothing new here..
Honestly, I think Ford and GM would rather close their doors than admit they are overcharging, Knowing that the GOV will bail them out because "TOO BIG TO FAIL" and WE'LL foot the bill for that too. Seriously, the game is totally RIGGED!
That's exactly what they're banking on happening. Gouge the public during pandemic, then get bailed out by taxpayers, then sell at pre-pandemic prices but with the bailout they still got peak pandemic profits on all the overstock. Let them go bankrupt and force them to sell at public auction.
There's a dealership here called mccarty daniels. They have a 2018 4 door jeep Rubicon for sale for $44,500 that's 13k off the original sale price 6 years ago. I just looked at the listing laughed & shook my head.
car edge video on the kia ev6 was insanity it's an ev that they can't sell and they tried to sell msrp or more a 2022 ev which probably already made them lose 100k
Not a chance they can sell the Tundra's. With the motor issues, you can have zero confidence that it will even survive long enough for you to pay off the loan.
Sadly @medmark is right, Toyota’s Tundra sales compared to 2023 are equal and in some cases surpass the previous years’ on a month-by-month basis. Most people aren’t like us. They won’t watch videos, read on forums and, and do their research before buying a vehicle. Reputation is enough for most. Toyota is indeed doing well this year in teens of Tundra sales
I agree with having zero confidence the Tundra engines will survive long enough to pay off your loan (Same with Taco's new transmissions) but I also know this will take years and years before the consumer loses confidence in Toyota so it will be some time before it would strongly affect their sales. This is assuming they don't fully fix the issues with the Tundra's and Tacos
@@medmark Thank GOD someone is protecting these large corporations. Your quick response has cancelled @msryder9265's rational motor issue comment. I am going to run out and now buy a Tundra. Who wanted that 1,000,000 mile V8 engine anyway?
95K for ANY Ford Bronco that isn't a 1960's model being sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction is ridiculous... WHO PAYS THAT MUCH FOR A SUBURBAN OFF ROADER???
Those Bronco raptors are worth no more than $55K to me. You can't sell me on an under sized engine. As soon as that turbo breaks, it's game over. That engine is useless without the turbo, and for a big SUV like that, they should've had a naturally aspirated 8 cylinder engine as an option. Let the customer decide.
@@pathunter7003 the coyotes are pretty solid engines and with how many issues the 2.7L eco boost has, I’d say the V8 would be way more reliable. There is a lawsuit about the ecoboost engines right now due to them blowing up so often
@@AtoMiCM0nkies and that opinion of yours of the 2.7 having problems is complete bull💩 The2.7 has been extremely reliable (better than the v8) with very few issues unlike the problem prone 5.0.
@@pathunter7003 Are you ignorant to the 700,000 vehicle lawsuit or just willingly disregarding a design flaw? It has been stated that the metal used in the valve train is prone to becoming brittle as the engine heat cycles. These motors are plagued with these issues. Look it up before speaking on something you know nothing about
@@AtoMiCM0nkies like I said before you are spewing bull💩 Ford did find a SMALL batch of valves that were inferior and they fixed that problem quickly with the supplier, not the ridiculous amount of vehicles that you ignorantly spit out. Try looking it up the info yourself instead of looking like a fool
I'm in the market for a new Charger R/T. They were around 35k before the pandemic. Now they want north of 45 or 50 k for the same car. (Not to mention they are 23s and 22s!) I refuse to buy unit the prices come back to around 35 k for a well equipped one. And that's plus tax and nothing else! So I'd say dealers are going to have some bitter apples to swallow...
@@ob1_kb no I don’t think so, there is so much debt the country has taken on, student debt, free Covid rents for 2 yrs plus, inflation reduction act, hundreds of billions to Ukraine, oil lease restrictions it all adds up. Higher fuel costs for farmers gets passed to consumers . And it all started within 6 mo of rule with biden
Considering I bought a tundra limited in 2016 for $43k these prices are just stupid. That eight year old tundra will outlast anything American trash companies are putting out.
3 year ago the lots didn't have any, and now they have too many... People aren't buying them the dealerships are selling them and swapping the out to other dealers at wholesale price 🙃
Friend just went to look at a 22 Ford full sized pickup, priced too high, dealer won’t budge on price. They must not be hurting too much, even though the truck has been sitting on the lot for three months.
It's what happens when you jack up the prices over 30%. The stealerships and the manufactures are guilty of price gouging, and are now reaping what they've sown. For me, they can keep their over priced and low quality boarding on lack of quality vehicles.
Don’t buy a Colorado. Unless you have a death wish. It locks up the brakes and steering on its own. Dash just shuts off. Radio blacks out. Chevys fix is just to shut off all safety features per GM engineer. They now have had our truck for over a month with no loaner and sending their “team” to Arizona to look at our truck. They have put more miles on the truck than we have!! I would love to share our story with anyone willing to share with a platform. Btw this is the second Colorado they have given us since August of 2023
Mark ups and discounts are not the problem. The problem is MSRP, especially with the average interest rate probably around 10%. I could afford $40,000 car or even a $50,000 car at 3% or 4%. But at 10% it’s a different animal And most people loans are at 17% right now that I’m speaking to. The lady that answered the phone at Chrysler capital had a 800 credit score and her loan was 17%..
She’s lying there’s no way her score is 800 with a 17% rate .. 800 is a+ tier credit … she’s either lying or she’s just started being late on all her credit cards and loans..or her debt to income level is too high and the bank did the loan but at double the rate( go figure maxxed out in life and the bank will help you , but at double the rate). at my credit union that score will get you the lowest rate of 6.75%…
@@toddprater14 OK so which is it? Is she lying or her debt to income ratio too high?. Talk to everybody the interest rate right now is 10 to 17% for good credit. Go look at the signs they posted for you outside before you go in the building. She explained the story to me. Had an emergency situation they had to go buy a new car and the loan was 17% interest and her credit score was 800..
@@toddprater14 that’s at a credit union. Go to Carvana or any other car company they post pictures of what the credit rating is gonna be with your credit score… 600 was 24%…
Would not be surprised if car manufacturers sell direct to consumers online, packaging financing, insurance, tax, registration, licensing, and trade-ins. The laws would have to change (Supreme Court). Dealerships changed into homeless shelters?
7:20 the fact that they expect you to pay "new car" prices on a 2023 is ridiculous. The second you drive it off the lot you're not just losing on the fact that it is used, but it's already a year old used. ANY 2023 vehicle should be discounted a min of 20% off msrp.
I still dont understand the dealer markups knowing that it cause people to look elsewhere for MSRP and better but somehow they still believe the dealer markups will sell more cars. Insane logic😮
It's just ridiculous. Sell your vehicles. Did they forget how to sell volume. Give the consumers discounts and low interest rates. If you sold your vehicles at slightly lower than MSRP without any shenanigans and markups. You would have made record profits, and we would all have nice vehicles. Instead, greed and stupid prices will equal no ones going to buy your products. Now we all are not going to even try. A new truck costs as much as a small house used to. Keep shooting your foot, and we will not buy anything.
The one that are selling I will be careful with the ‘Lot Rot’ Toyota is having lots of recalls. Will never purchase a vehicle over $45-50K, make no sense. TOO MANY THINGS ARE GOING WRONG WITH ALL THESE VEHICLES.
Toyota broke the cardinal rule of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I think Toyota's new engines may be holding the sales back. I mean let's face it, those million miles engines were the best selling point for Toyota.
I get this overall vibe of contempt for the consumer. Markups, window sticker hard to see, features being on subscription etc etc. what the hell is happening? The consumer used to be highly respected.
Dec 2006 I got a deal on a Ford F150 XLT with XTR package for $316 a month cad. That's with 13% tax included. Down payment was about $1800cad. 3 year lease. Picked it up Jan 2007. Great truck and deal, but a gas guzzler. Try and get that deal now.
People are keeping their cars alot longer ....no payments ,lower insurance, lower registration... But you must do your own maintenance...also having a good neighborhood mechanic is a win too. All rhe prices are house prices just a few years ago for the pickups ! Plus interest on a 84 month payment plan ... which will add 1/3 the cost of the pickup.
They did that to themselves.. greed , can’t stop ripping the public , never trying to build good report with their own customers .. most ppl won’t feel a lick of empathy for them
When you have made things unaffordable, and ridiculously dumb additions to drive those prices up… you out did yourselves! Bring us simple vehicles… no power, buzzers, puters… just manual windows, locks, a real key… affordable, driveable… transportation to work type, not like I’m living in it… yet.
Remember during COVID when they were shafting people? The Dealers were adding Added Dealer Markup and companies like Ford said that they were going to take action but that was all BS. Well I hope those brands whose dealer felt like abusing customers, PAY THE PRICE NOW.
My first home cost $90k in 1986… some how trucks cost more than that, 10 years later I sold it for $162,000, let’s see a truck do that! Trucks are perishable items, 50k is still to much….
My son bought his f150 regular cab, short bed, 4x4, 5.0L v8 in 2016 at around 30k starting, then with incentives/perks like student, veteran, loyalty as his old f550 and f250 were from them. His truck was sitting at around 28k. That was new sure. But when he went to go look and trade in, same setup truck is 49k. Just bigger ent system, redesigned body and so on. But thats outrageous 😅. So new danas, a 7.3L Godzilla crate motor, an over built trans, etc. Cheaper then buying a new truck haha
A base trime pickup in 4wd should not be more then 35,000 dollars. It was not that long ago prices reflected that. Inflation and price gauging is increasing while wages are stagnating.
My truck is 13yrs old. To replace it with a current year same trim level would cost near double what I originally paid. Plus it has very few improvements over my old truck.
If i wanted a truck I couldn't bring myself to sink this kind of money into a new vehicle I'd have to scour the used market for an old V8 and keep it a long time.
The old sales mantra re pricing: Go Up Fast, Go Down Slowly. That's (one way) they pad margin. In other words they will drop price ONLY when they can't take the pain anymore. 2:03
They’re all over priced and under engineered. The workmanship on almost every vehicle has gone into a nose dive the last couple of years. And please stop with this “sky is falling“ malarkey. These dealerships are still charging a massive amount of money and aren’t even, compromising a bit when you ask them to.
Big whoop the prices and insurances are still too high and in this inflation how can anybody buy cars every year. Its such bs! I can't even afford a 20K car.
I purchased 2025 Subaru Forester, having dealt with Jeep & other dealers. The price increases of jeep and the lack of dealers that wanted to sell pre owned and new. From my experience, they are not alone. I walked out of at least 1 dealer, and concern for those with the money to pay their price pathetic. For me I found unicorn dealer with fair deal under the present circumstances, and little apparent interest to sell inventory.
I'm a pretty frugal car owner. I have a nice truck, about 8 years old, and a Sequoia that has seen 21 years on the road. I wanted to pass this Sequoia down to my son for school and replace it with the (finally) remodeled Sequoia. But there's no way in hell I'm paying 90k for an SUV. I understand inflation is out of control, but as long as I don't HAVE to, I'm holding off on the car until this bubble pops. And it will
