@@svt89not going to happen, inflation ,labor and material costs will not allow it. At the Sam time emissions regulations ,safety standards and cafe requirements have all squeezed down costing manufacturers even more money to comply with . I would pass on the turbomax truck,no low range transfer case. The SST is a great value for what you get but an unproven engine, the Ford looks too much like a company work truck , especially in white . I’d probably buy the SST and I’m not a Ram guy.

I keep saying that I always assumed if I ever had a car payment of $750+ a month, it would be in a comfortable retirement with a Porsche or something, when everything else was paid off...not on a low spec pickup truck. I refuse to pay that much!

@@williamchen3789 Economics 101. Supply and demand. If the supplies are abundant & demand drops so do prices. It isn't that complicated. Furthermore the vast majority of truck buyers do not need a truck to make a living or recreate, so buying an $80,000 truck just to impress your neighbors is dumb.

If you account for inflation only, that same truck would be around 58k MSRP (22%) the value of the truck relatively the same, the issue isn’t the pricing. Its wages aren’t keeping up with inflation. If your salary isn’t 22% more than in 2019, your are actually poorer off today than you were then

Stellantis CEO got $39 MILLION bonus to successfully inflate prices and idle plants because they can't sell over priced vehicles. How about that $39 MILLION be put into customer hands to buy and keep things going? Nope... let's blame inflation, wages and not mismanagement and greed.

If it's used as a passenger vehicle, it's a luxury. Working middle-class don't drive pickups as passenger vehicles.

It's the displacement that generates power, not the cylinder count. Most big rigs use huge straight six engines. The GM blown turbo is the same displacement as Fords smaller turbo six.

@@davidrudd9846 easy, just don't rev the engine. It's a turbo, it makes enough power down low. Commercial vehicles see far more miles than consumer vehicles. These 4 bangers should do over 200k without opening anything up.

The luxury features added by most manufacturers aren’t even new tech. Screens are cheap, they’re filled with plastics inside and out, imitation leather is cheaper. Msrp going up is expected and price increase is also expected based on modern costa but that doesn’t justify the egregious jump in price for any comfort features

@ravensfootball52 my point is that "feelings" are typically liars. There are TONS of factors involved with the price of trucks. One that no one wants to address is that all product manufacturers use their most popular products to drive profit that their least popular, yet necessary, products can't. So, trucks are hugely popular and need to drive profit dollars that make up for the vehicles that don't. So, GM truck buyers will pay more for trucks so GM can still offer the Blazer. It's not just about what the Silverado 1500 is "worth". Combine that with a TON of other factors, and truck prices have shot up.

Everyone wants to own a new vehicle nowadays, when their budget means they should be shopping used. When did “used” become such a bad word for vehicles?

That's exactly what I did and I got a 24 platinum reserve for 54k, plus ttl and add on with 0%. Still expensive but it has all bells and whistles and cheaper than base models of everyone else.

@@BShine-ei7hn if I for any reason had a lifestyle for which a full size truck made any kind of sense I would not hesitate to get a pro-4x titan. These discounts are incredible even on a used one with 20k-30k miles. I just don't need a truck that big.

@Arkeo36 arguably I didn't either but the midsized trucks are too close in price and can't pull over 6k lbs. I tow my car om occasion and this was the cheapest luxury truck I could find. The pro-4x is a great truck for the money.

Transmission, no. The ZF 8 speed they’ve used since the early 2010’s is rock solid. New engine, yeah probably who knows. It’s new, not been used by consumers long enough to know how it holds up.

There is always concern about parts and service support for a discontinued model. I think in the case of Nissan, they would continue support.

@andyharman3022 Nearly every single vehicle I have worked on(1000's) was a discontinued generation. Never had a problem finding parts for anything made after 1970. All auto manufacturers who sell vehicles in the USA are required by US Federal Law to have oem part support available for any models they have sold for a period of 10 years.

Wait for the new trucks to start discounting aggressively & slowly the lightly used ones will come down as well. Right now the lightly used are still way to high

You definitely want an old basic work truck, with slight additions to accommodate towing needs; it will last forever and you don’t have to deal with the crap they’ve added over the years.

@@garysarratt1 So… I heard what he said, and I saw the trucks he chose… Now you mean to tell me that the Chevrolet and Ford dealers didn’t have comparably equipped or priced trucks on their lots? For example Ford has the STX which is one step above the XL (work truck spec) and is comparable to the Big Horn… And the Chevrolet wasn’t even a crew cab, so that’s not comparable either… And btw I watch just about all of their videos, and really like the vast majority of them, but I will mention it when I see discrepancies like these in this one. Because I am not cross shopping 3 totally differently equipped and priced vehicles. I decide on a price I can afford, THEN I look at trucks in that price range… I am not saying I still wouldn’t have picked the truck he picked, but make it as close to apples to apples as you can, because total price and value are not the same. The Ram had a MSRP of 63k (before incentives) and Chevy had one of 43k, that’s 20k difference…

I ignored the “no work truck” thing, and assumed he just picked the least expensive truck in stock at each dealership to point out what the dealerships are stocking.

@@BoostedYote They all make garbage....and good. i have owned over 80 vehicles, all brands, foreign and domestic, truck, cars, and SUV's. I have had great ones, good ones, and terrible ones. My more recent experiences have been a 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn Offroad, a 2014 Jeep grand Cherokee, and a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 14 GC went 140k before we traded it, and it was flawless. The 19 Ram spent a third of its time towing up to 9000 pounds, and the only issue was a cracked exhaust manifold (and i will give you the fact that is a problem that should have been corrected years ago), and the only issue with the 22 GC is the troublesome U-Connect 5. I have two friends in my coffee group, one whose 21 Ford F150 with a 5.0 ate up the valve train and required a new engine, and the other just had the complete 6.2 engine replaced in his 23 GMC Denali. We could also talk about Toyota's new 3.4 V6 that is suffering catastrophic failure. Agreed, the jury is still out on the Hurricane 3.0. Only time will tell. Do I like what Stellantis is doing to the Chrysler brands? Absolutely not. My newest truck acquisition? Low mileage 2007 Dodge 2500 4x4 with 5.9 Cummins. Way less complicated and way more reliable. Perfect truck? Nope. but I like it. Good luck with your future automotive experinces.

I disagree. HDs cost a lot more to register in certain states/provinces, they ride worse, are usually quite a bit larger (so they're harder to park and drive) while also being heavier on gas. IMO the midsize segment should be moee popular. I know tons of people who have an F-150 or Tundra but would be better off with a Ranger or Tacoma for their use. Conversely, I have seen only a few people who needed more truck than they had. The only fault with smaller trucks is that they severely lack rear seat room, so if you have children in car seats, you'll likely need a full-sized truck.

You mean the engines that have just barely hit the market and very few people are driving let alone reporting on?

You should have seen the asking prices on the trucks back in the 70’s.

And the gm should've been a true crew cab so ofcourse the price was lower.

@@enriquereboyras4381 apparently nobody listens. Andre made it clear that he treated this like any normal buyer would. He found the cheapest options at each lot for each manufacturer. This was just for his local area.

I dont think it would be faster, but not much slower. But the 2.7T has better usable power with its 430 ft-lbs at 3000 rpm.

@@ryansheard8092 Yeah, my 2010 Tacoma was $20k trade in and $10k for dealership discounts. So $59k-$20k-$10k=$29k plus tax and 10 year warranty came out to be $34k. Do you understand or has Bidne brain washed you!!

The Ford had a 12” screen? Seems pretty oversized to me lol. I think the screen in the Chevy was only 8”

I hate the burst your bubble, but many key-driven ignitions are still digital and turning the key just sends a signal, it isn’t actually the switch controlling power flow to the starter motor. It’s essentially a turn-button start instead of a push-button start.

I recommend you shop for used vehicles if the current lineup seems unaffordable. Nothing wrong with used, as I bought and drove used vehicles for decades before I made enough that I could buy anything I want.

They are getting harder to find with the specific features you want, but at the discounts offered it’s easy to step up to a higher trim for features you wouldn’t normally pay for but still end up cheaper than the base version.

But sometimes the new wife wouldn’t want to live in her in- laws house because not only was there no privacy but it meant she would be a live in maid and then when her in-laws aged she would be tasked with taking care of them.
