The habs need that scoring touch so much. Most of their fowards (except Toffoli) can't score with their wrist shot. It's becoming pathetic to see Drouin, Danault or armia wide open and shooting in the goalie's chest. If he can do this in the NHL, the habs will become a dangerous team.

The gods of hockey blessed us with a 1st overall who fell in 15th place because of his size. He keep things stupid simple. Puck to tape, tape to top corner. Who cares about size when you got a 10 millions $ shot.

I’ve been saying the same thing since his draft...if he was 6’4” he would’ve been drafted 1st overall, but since he’s on the smaller side, everyone was afraid to draft him! Well too bad for them but they’ve lost a very special scorer. I’m so glad MTL got him!!!

@@vania1917 He already started doing magic tricks in the NHL. Eagerly waiting for next season to start and whenever i need my hockey fix i just go watch that goal again ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6OdBiBwBCn4.html I'm so glad we ignored his size and picked him. Best forward we drafted in decades. Can't believe he still have his rookie season to play yet lol

And now he is playing in the finals. Amazing talent
@dbo514
@dbo514 3 года назад
At 5v5 he's going to need strong support from his C to be able to be really effective. For about 2 months he hasn't really been able to create chances at 5v5 on his own, aside from rush opportunities. He still has 11 goals outside of the PP, so he's finding ways to score, but the ways in which his size and lack of explosiveness limit is game is in manufacturing chances on his own. He was doing it more at the start of the year but now he's deferring to his linemates. I'll say that he is playing a mature game however, and staying within his strengths, and he seems to play within his team structure. That being said, if the bulk of his NHL impact is on the PP, it will still be a massive boost to the Habs. They need an elite shooter on the PP badly, it's probably their greatest need. It will make everything else easier if Caufield turns out to be a real PP specialist in the NHL.
@recruteshockey9700
@recruteshockey9700 3 года назад
I don't concur. There is plenty of explosiveness and ability to create chances on his own. He has exceptional edges and puck skills. Go take a look at the tape I have of his assists.
@dbo514
@dbo514 3 года назад
@@recruteshockey9700 I watch every game on BTN, I've seen the assists. Those are typically plays initiated by Weissbach off the rush, which end up with Caufield finding the open man. I think Dylan Holloway has a much easier time creating opportunities at 5v5.
@recruteshockey9700
@recruteshockey9700 3 года назад
@@dbo514 I respectfully disagree. Holloway and Weissback have way less vision and playmaking abilites than Caufield. That's not just coming form me..that is also the opinion of NHL scouts that I have talked to about not only him, but the other two as well. Holloway has far less creativity in his game than Caufield...he relies on his skating and power almost exclusively. Weissbach has tunnel vision most of the time..not the case with Caufield at all, I have watched every game Caufield has played the past three seasons and I have scouted professionally for 15 years....for what it's worth.
@dbo514
@dbo514 3 года назад
@@recruteshockey9700 I know your pedigree Grant, not saying Caufield isn"t exactly what the Habs need, or that I would trade him for Holloway. From my viewings of the Badgers it seems to me like he'll need more support to be able to exploit his abilities. I agree that Holloway is using his skating and power, but he's having an easier time creating chances at the NCAA level. It's very possible that Caufield is playing a style that will translate to the NHL more easily.

After watching junior hockey tournament, I thought Caufield could not really play in NHL. But i have change my mind after looking at goals and plays he mad all season long. Of course, I could relate only on videos on youtube since I live in Canada, but two things made me change my perception about his game. First, he his always in mouvement ( he moves his feet (even if I don’t like this expression) and second, he his a very good passer with a very good vision. Maybe is weight will be a brake for is NHL carrer but I agree on the fact that the Montreal team needs a real power play scorer, a second Ovechkin ( less the toughness) ?
