I'm gonna have to say Hyrule Castle from Breath of the Wild. Yes, I am counting it as a dungeon. I just love how it's designed such that, as to what has already been the theme of BotW already, you can approach it from any angle or at any time you want. You could break in through the main gate, that's a pretty fun route, but you gotta watch out for the Lionels in the gate houses. You could go for the water way under the castle and sneak in from below, that has a really fun vibe to it as well. If you have the Zora tunic, you could boat up the river and just ride the waterfalls all the way to the top, effectively skipping the dungeon all together. Or, you could really try something unorthodox. You could boat up to the cliffs and climb up the side to get on the outer pathway, and then you can either enter the castle or just continue climbing on up the walls. Or, you could use speed-runner tricks to launch yourself into the air with stasis and then paraglide in from above. Yes, it's combat focused since the design of the game makes it such that it's hard to do puzzles in the open world and so they're relegated to shrines, but I think they worked very well within the open-world ethos of the game to make Hyrule Castle tones of fun.
I personally have the Wind Temple as my favorite. I love the aesthetics and music, the puzzles were really fun, and I absolutely adore that you're required to combine the Hookshot and Iron Boots. Hope you cover the Oracle games some day :D
Every time i play through wind waker i always dread fighting puppet ganon, especially his spider form, the amount of times i dont get a clear shot of his tail is too many to count
As much as the Forsaken Fortress is disliked as a dungeon, it does really well from a narrative standpoint. The game is about Link becoming the hero. The first visit at the start of the game makes you feel so weak and helpless, forcing you to sneak around and avoid fighting. Then when you go back, you’re running through the same place like it’s nothing, showing how far you’ve come in the journey, but meeting Ganondorf at the end shows you still have farther to go. Serves more as a story checkpoint than a dungeon, but I appreciate it for that aspect. Still a boring dungeon though lol
This is the first video I've watched from you and I must say I really think you offer quite good quality for your amount of subscribers. I wouldn't have ever guessed that you "only" have about 530 subs! Judging by your confidence and overall video quality, I really think you'll be one of the big ones in the future. That is if you keep up the work! Many quit at this stage but you seem really enthusiastic and motivated so I hope you keep up the great work. I'm definitely a new sub.
Not a bad video. I more or less agree with the ranking though Ganon’s story beats dont really make him a “better character” in my opinion and the Master Sword is not located in the Tower of the Gods. I’m also pretty sure that WW is not technically a “direct” sequel to OoT. It IS a sequel but more like a sequel in a sense of Twilight Princess being an Ocarina of Time sequel.
I haven’t played any Zelda games outside of botw and totk and I’m fully aware that the dungeons in this game are not well liked but my favorite dungeon out of the two game is probably the thunder temple from totk the vibes are immaculate and the puzzles weren’t easy but they were quite fun! The gibdo Queen was a pretty challenging boss fight in my opinion just a good time overall :D
I know this might sound like blasphemy (especially in Zelda) but my favorite dungeon/temple ever is the Ancient Cistern from Skyward Sword. Which is of course a water dungeon/temple in one of the most hotly debated games ever- Skyward Sword. For me what makes a good Zelda game isn't exactly the most complex dungeon/temple with crazy puzzles or difficult enemies but rather how does the environment/music shape the player into becoming that "better" version of the Hero. I always have great time in Ancient Cistern because the concept of going between metaphorical "heaven" and "hell" is wicked cool but also the music way it changes the arrangement depending on what part of the dungeon you are in is amazing. The bonus points are also that the boss, Koloktos, is one of the best fights in Skyward Sword it is super memorable- and I would argue one of the best in the whole Zelda series. I mean what other boss can you kick their ass with their own weapons? It felt so damn good as kid and still does to me for this day, and the whip is very creative dungeon item in general. Though sadly like most Skyward Sword weapons is it hardly used ever outside of the dungeon it came from despite all the items being quite creative in general. The only other Zelda game I would give that praise too would be my second favorite Zelda game, Twilight Princess. The Spinner, Ball and Chain, and Dominion Rod were all quite cool in their own rights. Point is I could gush all day about Zelda (and more specially Skyward Sword) but I think every Zelda game honestly has their place. Even the little guys like Phantom Hour Glass, Spirit Tracks, and or Minish Cap to name a few underrated Zeldas are joys to play through.
The HD Triforce quest is way less tedious than the original, and all in all it has a better experience, not surpired it helped you see windwakers's geniuses.
