@@devonstation2102 Thanks Devon, I agree.. I know I "CAN" sweep... I just haven't tried really. I do handle tremolo speed picking each note pretty decent though!
@@dankmetalmemes just take the thickest pick you've got and rip over the strings as hard and fast as you can while hitting random notes with you left hand also as fast as you can. Don't bother practicing with metronome since the best practice speed is always as fast as you can.
If you backtrack virtual bass live you kill 2 birds with one stone by not having a stumbling buffoon on stage with you and solid bass lines at the same time
Never been a guitarist but I’m certain I auditioned a guitarist on his first. He showed up with no amp, no pick, and hadn’t even listened to the songs. It was a hard rock band and he showed us a finger picked folk piece. We were like “thanks, bye.” I auditioned another guitarist, he had a huge rack effects rig, digital controller, could sweep, play any scale ever, claimed to be a guitar teacher... didn’t listen to the songs, refused to play in our tuning/key, wanted to just randomly shred over our riffs. “Thanks, bye”. Auditioned a bass player another time for a death metal band. He brought a 10 or 15 watt practice amp that was supposedly “really loud”, no tuner, 1000 year old strings. Broke a string first song, declined to learn the riffs, headbanged really hard though. “Thanks, bye.”
Reminds me of the time I had a drummer stop by for an audition. Never picked up his phone day of so we thought he flaked. The dude randomly showed up 3 hours after the time we asked him too. Didn’t show up with a kit, but he did have drum sticks. Claimed to be drumming his whole life, and the dude had more rhythm than a pet rock. Said it was because he didn’t have his “liquor kit”, began to cry, then asked 4 times to play a guitar.
*calls security* security guard: wow bro, did you write this? wow, play something else, bro, please. band member: no that's not- Rudy: *plays smoke on the water*
One of the better candidates I would say. Most craigslist responders don't even show up due to an unexpected house fire, flat tire and the death of 5 grandparents.
This is a guarantee: scooped mids and no one can hear anything but hiss and bass, but they can't figure out why, so they just keep increasing the volume
Dude he is a surprisingly good actor in these little clips he posts. Just the little facial expressions/subtle eye squints/moments of silence. Muy bien
I've owned a guitar for like 30-years. I can play about 15-seconds of a lot of different song, perhaps 2-songs all the way through (all badly), and I don't even think MY first band audition would be that bad. I would, however, likely get the "Bro, please stop" reaction, but it would be much earlier in the audition.
"I just stated all the requirements from the ad" "The ad?" "Yeah the craigslist ad. The one you responded to. thats why youre here" "I'm sorry?" "The craigslist ad" "Oh yeah I know craigslist " "Ok" I love that part
@@Walamonga1313 But if I say it's hard and can do it, it makes me feel like I'm skilled and feelings are more important than facts so I am entitled to be in the band. Feels>facts, yo.
Dude, I've been going through all your videos trying to find this one. That sweep picking part is so epic, and hilarious. And btw, you've made a lot of videos bro! 💯 this one is a classic!
My first band audition (im a drummer) we rented a studio room for the night just to jam. I only bought 2 pairs of sticks. I wasn't use to studios and this wasn't high end, the place was so cold that my sticks got more frigid and both pairs broke. In a hour.
That's literally why I don't ever try to join any band. I started learning way too late. It takes me several days to learn songs by ear and I don't even have a car.
For my first guitar audition I played Def Leppard for 30 minutes. The band that I auditioned for was into some college rock alternative band that I had never heard of.
