Even tho Catton only had 3 assists in 4 games, he played extremely well and could've easily have 6 or 7 more points. I love his game and look like a legit top 5 talent for this year's draft. Hope you guys like the vid! 🎥: CHL
@@TChockey Yeah, I am. Especially if we're talking forwards. I don't think anyone has the ceiling he has outside of Celibrini. He was dominant al year, and that with a hip injury.
@@TChockeyI think Catton has a higher ceiling. Im not high on prospects with late birthdays. Im a bit worried by Lindstrom being injured in his draft year.
I think Nylander is a better shooter and Catton is looking like a better passer (I might be wrong) but the way they both have the puck on a string is similar to me
Disagree completely. Drouin was a perimeter player. How you can say he reminds you of Drouin after watching take it to the net countless times in these clips. They're not even close. Catton is a rare talent. Controls the game every shift and way, way more skilled and much higher IQ than Drouin.
@@TheGreekPoet Drouin went 3rd overall in a very strong draft and Catton's projected to go around 10th. he was a rare talent and high IQ back then also.
@@noli3160 I get that sentiment. I was a huge fan of Drouin when he was in junior. But what I saw was a player that relied heavily on speed over IQ. And liked to break wide around defenders on the outside to look for passing options. He had a great motor too. But liked to exploit the outside rather than the middle. Unfortunately, his speed wasn't as much of an advantage in the NHL and injuries and mental health issues followed. But he wasn't really driven by his IQ, like Catton is. Catton's best attribute is his IQ. And he quickly finds the weakest link in the D and attacks it mercilessly. Plus the fact he has an elite shot (Drouin not as much), and uses it like Bedard did, by shifting to change angles and such, he's a more complete threat than Drouin ever was. He's always ready to shoot first unless other options are there. Drouin was always a pass first guy. Did you know Catton has the 3rd highest PPG for a draft eligible WHL'er in 20 years? Only behind Bedard and Sam Reinhart. And that on a very, very crappy team. Having said that. We have to factor the Q vs the WHL and also that Drouin had Mackinnon as a center. Catton played with scrubs. It's easy to use Drouin as a comparable, until you watch more of Catton. And then you'll probably change your mind. Cheers!
@@TheGreekPoet Thank you for this explanation! I havent actually watched full games of Catton only highlights so I’m probably saying wtv. My comment was based on size and skating style mostly but I’ve heard great things about Catton hopefully he turns out better than Drouin.
@@TChockey I'll admit that it's incredibly ignorant for me to go off three minutes of tape but he didn't look impressive. I've seen other tape of him and heard him break down his play, he seems like a stud but maybe the biggest question mark on forward when it comes to his NHL potential
yeah I agree with you that in this video he has not a lot of great highlights but it’s only 4 games. I suggest you to look at the vid I posted today on his regular szn highlights and he is something to watch
Have you looked at the rest of the Chief's team? Go to their team page and check-out the scoring stats. Countless setups totally trashed by his teammates. And he himself definitely was stoned several times by a super-hot goalie, Ravenbergen. Without Catton, Spokane is a bottom-dweller. That's how bad the rest of the lineup is. And he still got a ppg in the playoffs in spite of everything. He turned Roulette into a 108 pt player after years of ~60 point seasons. Perspective is important.
@@TheGreekPoet fair points, off his production alone he is likely being undersold and when there's a redraft down the line he will likely be in the top ten best players out of this draft. I just don't see how yet when compared guys like tij Iginla or demidov, even Cayden Lindstrom. There games are in your face and it's clear what they will bring to the NHL. I guess I have to watch more tape on him, people talk about his rush play but you don't put up points like that on a weak team without doing several things special
