@@NaiefThegoonybut why? I don't find it annoying and I've been a fan of the series for 21 years, I call the HG/SS male protag Ethan and I've grown accustomed to calling the G/S/C male protag Gold. This is to differentiate them but even I know that Ethan is his name regardless of the generation.

Gold is actually a fan name, his actual name is Ethan but people call him gold Because of Silver, at least that's what I think is the reason

@Koruton 99 Gold is one of the default names, just like Red is in gen 1. But yeah, they just wanted a more normal sounding name to match Ethan/Gold that wasn't so on the nose. Seeing both Crys and Crystal show up as defaults options would be weird.

Green (Blue in Japan) and Leaf seem to be considered the same character by many people unlike Crys and Lyra (from Crystal and Hg/Ss respectively) who are distinctly referred to as seperate characters

She is referred to as Leaf in Pokémon Masters. Even though Masters isn't canon it is still official material.

Not a bad theory, though I doubt the backstory would be so.complicated. They actually had a rocket executive losing as the radio station CEO. That's likely what replaced the imposter Oak. They were probably supposed to kidnap him and have the executive take his place. That would give them access to all his research, and all the Pokemon under his care. Their main goal was rebuilding after the group was nearly wiped out, so most of their motive was just power plays. If they couldn't get Giovanni to return they probably would have just had somebody else a over.

At the moment, her most recent appearance is in Pokemon Master ( although this is not from main game ). I would love to see her make a return too in the future, like Anabel which I think very random choice but I still love it.

She was always green in the English games because they changed Green(the rival) to blue because the second version changed

The manga has absolutely nothing to do with how the games are made, they're basically officially endorsed fan fiction. The author just had Green in the manga dress like Lead for the FireRed/LeafGreen arc as a nod to the games. He does the same for the other characters and their remake counterparts.

Usually it's the female role who has the 2nd Game in the game pair interestingly. Now if you played as the female in Japanese Blue Version it would make sense for her to be named Blue much like Crystal being the girl. Keep in mind the game that actually let you play as her is LeafGreen & the name Leaf is common fan name for her she's generally thought of as being Green. Every Gen except Gens 2&4 follows the pattern of boy is 1st game, girl is 2nd game in the manga unless you count Gen 1 as the girl being Blue. Although the international game releases referring to Oak's Grandson as Blue in Gen2 the name Blue Oak stuck.

Yeah,but unlike Red and Blue we didn't get to see her as an npc until Let's Go (we saw both Red and Blue in gen 2 and their remakes)

Wes? Who the heck is Wes? If you're referring to the Colosseum Protagonist, his name is Leo in the manga that never made it outside of Japan. Snagger Leo really should be a guest NPC in some future game & you have to wonder if we'll ever get a remake of Colosseum or XD: Gale of Darkness that includes newer Pokemon.

​@@rock85cool What Team do you think Leo would use if battled? I think Umbreon & Espeon with either the Final Form Johto Starters or Legendary Beast Trio & Metagross as 6th Team Member. Tyranitar's SandStream wouldn't mix well with the rest of his Pokemon. Part of me wonders how cool it would have been if Orre Colosseum had an 8th Challenge in XD, where the final opponent was Leo. He wouldn't have been allowed to use the Legendary Beast Trio there, although it would have been an awesome thing most players would never reach. Both games could use ports or remakes for Switch if you ask me. Colosseum can only be improved on with Nature Mints, Modern Moves, Breeding as an unlock once all Shadow Pokemon are snagged, Pokespots 5 years early, ability to save anywhere, & a method of controlling Effort Values efficiently. Also Ho-oh should be easier to get & Celebi should have the insane quest instead only with a couple more conditions added. Pokespots could have some newer species available like Riolu. While if Battle Mode still exists it could also mix Pokemon from Gens 4-8 into it. I'm not sure how well new Shadow Pokemon could be added to a Colosseum Remake. Only 20 at most should be added & only if implemented well. Perhaps Realgam Tower could offer extra Colosseum Challenges that featured rematches against Cipher Peons with Shadow Pokemon & the new Shadow Pokemon could be given to Cipher Peons who didn't have Shadow Pokemon originally? Adding Shadow Pokemon would make more sense for a remake of XD, as that game lacked the problem of tracking down trainers for rematches. Additionally Cipher Key Lair mass produced Shadow Pokemon & it always seemed weird that only 83 were made. An XD remake could have a massive postgame story added involving Ardos & his plans to revive Cipher with the revelation that you only managed to snag half the Shadow Pokemon prior to seeing the credits. Perhaps some of the new Shadow Pokemon could be added to the main story of XD? Still the postgame story should involve you returning to Cipher Key Lair, where you would get the complete list of Shadow Pokemon after defeating Skrub who Ardos had reactivate the factory. You would eventually end up exploring the remains of The Under & battling Nascour there. That's all I really have thought up. XD's remake should also have Trainer Customization & the addition of modern moves, newer species & newer items added as well.

@@Diz_27 It's actually unclear because in pokémon let's go, an official source, green is called green but has a different design compared to the female protagonist from fire red and leaf green, wheras in pokemon masters, another official source, they introduced the female protagonist of fire red and lef green, but she's called leaf, not green. Even bulbapedia is unsure because both green and leaf have their own separate page, so unless it's officially confirmed that they're either the same or two different characters, we can't say for sure.

To clarify, Red, Blue, and Green (Leaf) in Let's Go are their manga counterparts, which explains their starter Pokemon and overall different team (ie. Blue doesn't have his Pidgeot that's just as associated to him as Blastoise in other notable media). Add to Green in LG acting like how she's portrayed in the manga. Leaf is Green's new established name since 2004 with the GBA Kanto remakes, where she became an official character in the game series. Pokemon Masters even calls her Leaf, too.
