In the anime, when Akira does his legendary guitar solo, the guitar says "I'm going to kill your mommas" which is probably a reference to the song, "My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama" by Frank Zappa

I'm always of the opinion that Reimis name is a reference to director Sam Raimi, considering her character is full of horror themes and Araki seems to be a fan of his even featuring his Spider-Man in part 6, which would also validate Arnold being a reference to Arnold Schwarzenegger as they're both film icons

Wait so Joseph was 63 years old and Tomoko was 20 years old in 1983 which would be the year Josuke was conceived 💀 that age gap is wild and his father is older than his grandfather Ryohei who would’ve been 40 in that year too
@zoefarr2600
@zoefarr2600 Год назад
I had a theory that Joseph looked in his 40s until this (as this would explain Tomoko's initial drape over Jotaro) due to his Hamon, but he did feel a little guilty after that and Suzi was getting old so he wanted to grow old more a bit gracefully after that (not following Straizo's example...). So he's still mostly buff but greying + beard in 1988, but by the time of Part 4, he's let himself go a *lot* (until Shizuka gives him a reason to live longer again). I wouldn't be surprised if Suzi was dead a couple of years after part 4 as well

Prince's 1999 has an overarching theme of the end of the world, idk if it's because of terrorism in the 80s/90s but he has a line repeated "Everybody's got a bomb, We could all die any day". Now I don't know if Araki confirmed it, but the Bites The Dust Arc feels very similar to the whole song of 1999, most apparent when the song echoes out with "Mommy, why does everybody have a bomb?" which could link back to Hayato. again, idk if it's confirmed but it is pretty cool to think about lol
@angelbasiliorodriguezbusto2065
When you think about it, Rohan uses Heaven's Door on Hayato ("If you didn't come to party, don't bother knockin' on my door, oh") and Hayato is the one with the "lion" (KiIIer Queen) on his pocket ready to roar
@jeromios
@jeromios Год назад
Echoes, the song, is generally thought of as being split up into parts, or acts I guess, but not necessarily three of them. Long prog rock songs in general tend to be split up into acts, so it makes sense that Araki would name Echoes' forms that way if it's not a coincidence. Of course, the whole transformation thing is inspired by dragonball, and the song itself is not the reason for the different acts existing. If that were the case then Crazy Diamond would transform nine whole times, since that song is split into 9 parts (I may be misremembering the number)

I like to think that Sheer Heart Attack is based specifically on the song, because of how fast and aggressive it feels. Like, when you listen to it, you almost feel like you were being chased by the stand Also, with so many Queen and Bowie references with Kira you could have mentioned their song Under Pressure, because, while there haven't been any direct references to it, it fits the story thematically - Kira lives his life under pressure of being found and when Hayato discovers him, he is under pressure. Knowing Araki, I think it could have been intentional

One reference I think might've been ommited here is when Akira makes his guitar say "I'm gonna kill your mama too", which could be a reference to the song "My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama", by Frank Zappa and his band, The Mothers of Invention.

I think its funny that the three (confirmed) Pink floyd references in part 4 are references to Pink Floyd's three longest songs Hamon Beat already alluded to this in the video, but echoes is 23 and a half minutes long exactly, taking up the entire backside of the album it was released on and only the third longest Pink Floyd song The second longest is The Atom Heart Mother Suite, the first track on Atom Heart Mother, which also takes up an entire side on the vinyl pressing, at 23 minutes and 44 seconds, 14 seconds longer than Echoes Finally, Shine on you Crazy Diamond is split in half in the track listing for Wish you Were Here, but by combining both halves of the song (something the band's guitarist and lead vocalist David Gilmour actually wanted to do, before the idea was shot down by Bassist Roger Waters), you get a song that's roughly 26 minutes long
@mlodszyczapnik7684
@mlodszyczapnik7684 Год назад
4:23 As a Pink Floyd fan I can say that the "three acts" in the song is mostly referring to the song having a section of whale noises in the middle, and music in the other two parts before and after the whale section. However this song unlike other longer progressive rock songs does not have any officially confirmed division into parts (unlike for example Shine On You Crazy Diamond, that has 9 parts total, or Lizard by King Crimson that has four of them) so saying that "Echoes" having three acts is a reference to the song structure is kind of a stretch

although it doesn't count as a reference and it isn't confirmed, i'm pretty sure that the way kira's design is based off david bowie, while having powers based off of queen's songs is a reference to under pressure, which is a song known for being a colaboration between bowie and the band not to mention how the overall theme and lyrics of the song fit kira's lack of love and empathy for other people

7:39 The only thing I'd point out is that neither "See Emily Play" nor "Arnold Layne" are featured on Pink Floyd's debut album, they are just singles from those early days of the Syd era. I know because PF are my all time favorite band and I've listened to Piper at the Gates of Dawn many many times. I believe there was a reissue of the album in a sort of limited time "Deluxe Edition" way that included some of the early singles that don't appear on any album, including these two, but they are not part of the original. Obviously, this doesn't matter much on what you say, I just wanted to correct this. As for if they are the actual references, I think Arnold is very possible but I'm still skeptical for Reimi.

Since the SC video is almost 2 weeks old I rewrite the same comment here: Dio's stand The World is likely a reference to the italian progressive rock song and album "The World Became the World" by Premiata Forneria Marconi. It's a niche cult among 70s prog rock fans, and saw release in Japan. The album is even directly referenced in JoJolion, where we can see the cover of the LP.

"The World" is a tarot card, which is the theme of most of part 3's stands. Occam's Razor suggests that was probably the only factor, but it is Araki so I guess you can never rule it out.

@@ZekeFreek problably became a reference to that afterwards, and the tarot card was the original intent. with the choice being seemingly based on the "its a stand that can stop- The World" kinda like "Hail 2 U" used only for the sake of "Hell 2 U"
@goALECKSrad500
@goALECKSrad500 Год назад
@@punusername3445 Taking a closer look it’s possible that Dio’s songs and lyrics might have been what inspired Araki to use the Tarot cards in the first place. Stargazer by Rainbow has lyrics of “time standing still, blood on the sand”. There’s a Dio/sabath song called “falling of the edge of the world”. Dio’s also had many songs about Stars. I think Araki figured he could use Tarot cards to connect the world/dio with stars/jotaro (same type of stand). Bowie also used stars/stardust in his music alot. And his song “the man who sold the world” But araki def knew the “world became the world” and could have been additional inspo for the stand. And why it’s in part 8. But a song I find more interesting to look at is “I melt with you” by Modern English (1982) “I’ll stop the world and melt with you”.

I think when people refer to Echoes's three acts, they're referring to the three verses of the song. A parallel can also be drawn between the timing of these verses and the progression of Echoes through his three acts. Act 2 awakens not too long after Act 1, similar to how the second verse of the song comes only a minute or so after the first. Act 3, meanwhile, doesnt come in until several arcs later, in the sheer heart attack fight. The third and final verse of echoes doesnt start until well over 10 minutes, if not longer, after the second. That said, this may be coincidental, as there are plenty of Pink Floyd songs with three verses, the final one coming after a lengthy instrumenral break, such as Pigs (Three Different Ones), Money, Us and Them, and even Shine on you Crazy Diamond.

@@snuffysam You have to allow for a little wiggle room when it comes to English words being used in Japanese. "Movement" seems like an especially awkward word to incorporate into Japanese speaking structure, since neither syllable ends in a vowel sound. A monosyllabic word like "act" is easier to roll with as "act-o"

GW is also 39 and SO 38. SC is the longest anime season meanwhile the manga is shorter

The anime padded out p3 a lot and paced it so that every villain had their own entire episode or pair of episodes with very little bleeding into other episodes Comparing the actual chapter count in the manga, Part 4 is 22 chapters longer

@@Xenunnaki Where the hell did you pull those numbers from? Part 3 has 152 chapters and Part 4 has 174 chapters. It is so easy to fact check so why are you spreading misinformation.

Oh I see what you did, you took the overall chapter count rather than the individual. Part 3's final chapter is the 265th overall chapter of the series and Part 4's final chapter is the 439th overall chapter. Not sure how you could get that confused.

hey this is a bit weird but... please, let it be known, that DID, formerly multiple personality disorder, is not related in any way to schizophrenia or any personality disorders. If you have proof that araki designed diavolo and doppio because of the song 21st Century Schizoid Man, include it with a disclaimer at the very least. but this song isnt mentioned in the jojo wiki regarding diavolo... here, i get that Diavolo is an extremely antisocial person however. you could say something like "There is a possibility that araki was inspired to write diavolo and doppio because of the song 21st Century Schizoid Man by King Crimson. There are some things wrong with this beyond no way to verify it. For one, Dissociative Identity Disorder, formerly known as Multiple/Split Personality Disorder, is not related to schizophrenia or what we would today call personality disorders. Secondly, its far more likely Diavolo and Doppio were inspired by a famous court case" or dont dwell on the aspects of DID. just ignore doppio and say "Diavolo, being extremely antisocial, may have also been inspired by the song 21st Century Schizoid Man, which is by King Crimson" I know you previously included 21st Century Schizoid Man in your old video on music references.. it felt like you were trying to say doppio and diavolo are a case of schizophrenia (when the closest there is is maybe diavolo, but not doppio, having some sort of personality disorder)

Did he mention Sha? Also the fact Sheer heart attack literally says S.H.A! as a standcry, my question is what is "Shibabababa" a reference for? I know SHA was chosen as a reference to how youll never get away and its going to hunt the hottest thing in the room (Funny), but I never understood the standcry

I think you can divide echoes in three parts but its not an official thing its just the pacing of the song
