I don’t often comment on videos, much less review videos, but I have to say what an incredibly articulate and well put together review this was. More mega reviews of the like would be a welcome sight for all those interested in disc golf content.
I love these kinds of videos. I know I'll watch this at least six times. For gyro, I bag a couple of Hexes and a couple of Rhythms and Insanitys. I also have one Paradox in the watermelon proton for utility shots. I've messed with the Crave in a few different plastics and never loved it. I settled on the rhythm even though it has less plastic offerings. I really like my Rhythms but I'm turning them over when I don't want to be lately and now I'm trying to troubleshoot if it's rusty new season form or if they're really just too flippy now. I've messed with a few of their putters and some other mids too. But I only bag those four moulds.
For anyone who isn't familiar with MVP, the plastics do generally make a pretty noticeable difference. Their plastics from least to most overstable are generally Electron, Fission, Neutron, anf then Eclipse/Proton are the most overstable. It makes a bigger difference in some molds than other. For example, alot of people (myself included) bag both a Fission and Eclipse Reactor, cause they fill totally different spots.
Great detailed video. I watched this when it was released. I’ve been trying to like a hex for a long time and it just wasn’t working for me a tad too stable for my arm speed and style. You talked about the ECHO and I am sold on this disc. I’ve been trying for three years to fill that spot and I credit your video for finally finding the correct disc. Thank you for all of your hard work, you are a treasure to the disc golf community.
GOOD JOB! This video, as I believe, was made because of a good feeling from MVP discs and from a need of sharing it. Makes me feel better with these. Good vibe! Fans of MVP (we) are lucky to have this Down Under one.
Man I wish people did more reviews of whole line up like this so you know about all the discs you may be debating on getting. Good stuff honestly absolutely good stuff.
It's evident to me from watching this video that you've delivered presentations before in a professional setting, and that you put a lot of effort into this. Well done! I hope other disc golf content creators follow your example.
Of MVP mids I bag the Uplink, Hex and Deflector in Neutron…Uplink is my long point and shoot upshot, Hex distance mid, and Deflector my chop forehand disc that I know I will never be able to throw far but will always come out of whatever hyzer angle you put on it, so it’s great for step out forehands in the woods where you’re looking up for a hole to poke through. I have a Reactor but it just isn’t quite what I’m looking for in my mid slots. I have thrown Pyros and know a bunch of people who love them if stable mids are your thing.
Great stuff! The amount of time and heart you put into these is so impressive. You content is an example of excellence. I have a feeling we have a similar game since we agree on basically every disc. :D I love my Uplink and Deflector, and while the Hex is great, I have a beat in Vector that I just can't give up. We have formed a bond that borders on unhealthy... it just won't die, no matter how many trees I hit! Keep up the great work... I will watch everything you produce!
I still bag my tangent and just got a Detour and have been trying to acquire a Pyro for some time. Well done video. Really appreciate your time effort to make this for us out here in cyber space.
LOVE FROM TEXAS!!! I'm surprised mvp/axiom isn't sponsoring you. You are great advertisement for their products. And the fact you bought all those discs, I feel for ya. My disc golf collection has grown and wasn't cheap, lol. I love that you did the whole line in one video.
Fantastic review - I watched it all the way through a couple of times - thank you for making this. I don't have a Hex (yet), but I agree that the Envy and Crave are must haves. I also think the Reactor and Pyro are fantastic. I bag all 4 and they all see use.
I hate the paradox. I keep getting them in gyro boxes. I can't even give them away. Man! That OTB deflector looks insane! I thought the deflector was something crazy. ATM I have really been enjoying my hex. I bag an uplink, hex, pyro, and deflector. I do have a detour but i still have not got out to use it much. It might make the bag but as of right now I am more comfortable with the uplink. Fairways I am using fission crave, neutron crave, 2 neutron volts, and a resistor. I have been messing around with the servo, drift, relay, insanity, and virus but none of them have made the bag yet. Great work. I very much enjoy your videos. I look forward to your next one.
Really Loved the Vector and Axis. I was extremely disappointed when these were discontinued. When MVP changed production and discontinued various molds it completely wiped out my mid range bag and some putter molds. I left MVP completely for several years, recently taking a chance again on the HEX. So far I like it
G'day from across the ditch! First time viewer here, and you've earned my subscription! Excellent indepth review, much appreciated. I look forward to watching more of your content! Thanks mate :)
Fantastic review video, as always. My favorite MVP disc is the Envy, but the best midrange that I have and throw is the Reactor. I also love the Crave and bag it, but I've never thrown a Hex. I think I'd most like to get an Uplink or Detour. Appreciate your thoroughness in making this video.
This is an amazing video. Thanks for this. I've been thinking about getting a few of these for a while, but couldn't find any solid comparison videos. You should really think about doing this format with other class discs like MVP fairways. I still sometimes get out my discontinued Shock, because in my opinion there is just no other disc like it. It's a cheat code. Anyway, nice work and thanks again!
Great video, thanks Matt. I had the same reaction as you on the Theory, didn’t last too long in my bag. Uplink, Hex and Reactor are my go to discs. Plus I actually like the Paradox too.
Great video, Matt! I only wish you threw the OOP discs so we can see the changes. I just got a couple Axis's to fill that Detour slot that MVP has been slow to make. I haven't thrown it yet, so I wanted to see someone do a follow flight on it.
Great review, and as someone who is doing the same review (but at high altitude) I understand and appreciate how much work went into this! Just getting the shots and editing down through it all is so much work. What did you use for follow flights? Always appreciate your work!
Good luck. Many hours of work. I use Davinci Resolve with the Fusion module to animate frame by frame. Used to take a long time but I can now follow flight a shot in about 2-3 minutes.
Ordered myself a pyro the day before you released this, somehow I couldn't find anything as comprehensive and clear as the 2 minutes you gave to it in this video. Watching you throw it though, I feel very good about my purchase.
@@DiscGolfDownUnder Dunno what you're talking about mate... just threw it today and it's incredible! Haven't enjoyed a new disc this much in a while. Feels like I'm throwing a hex, flies like a hex even, but just with great torque resistance and a super dependable fade. Absolutely gorgeous. I can't imagine how it's going to fly when it breaks in, but I can't wait to see.
I loved this! I currently bag the hex and pyro, and have tried the uplink, but it's always too windy where I'm at to throw. I'm looking forward to trying out the Detour now. I appreciate you went into the out of production molds too.
Uplink took the Fuze out of my bag as well! I live the Pryo for OS slot. Hope they come out with an electron one of these days. I purchased a Glow Hex, Glow Reactor, and and electron Matrix. I am most accurate with the Matrix and throw it all over the place. Looking to get a proton one of these days.
I like the feel of the Matrix, but wasn't able to use it. That was when I was a super noob though. Now, still a beginner, I use it to practice forehand approaches. My forehand is trash but I do see progress because of the Matrix.
Only bag Detour and Pyro mids, My Neutron Envy and Proxy do exactly the same as the hex and reactor for me, and a detour is a hex with just a simple hyzer!
Great vid! My mids are the only part of my bag that are all one company (which happens to be MVP) with the detour, fission and eclipse reactor, and that super beefy proton soft deflector. Another comment asked this: but how do you edit your flight lines?
I use Davinci Resolve and flight lines are done in Fusion by hand, tracking frame-by-frame. Uses to take forever but these days I can track a single shot in about 3-4 minutes.
So the first disc I was given when I first started was an axis and I love it. Would love for them to bring it back but it's just a hex now. So I guess it's fine
Fission reactor replaced neutron hex in my bag. I had also fission hex and it was nothing what expected. Domey and understable. Pyro is so lovely and I use that also as uppshot disc. Detour is something I want to try. Dm origin is currently my understable mid and there's nothing bad but that"s not gyrodisc😅
I have a normal proton deflector I picked up out of the used bin in like new condition... It is like throwing a boat anchor... I wanted an oberstable utility disc, but that thing is borderline unusable... Love the matrix, hex, and runway.

My favorite MVP mid is the hex. I bag 2. Neutron for that is a liltle Ulunderstable and Proton for a little overstable. Proton is my most OS other than a dyed max weight fission that is a beefcake and almost unusable.
Hex is my favorite I'd love to try the detour and the vector to me was better then the matrix but that's my opinion they both are great the Pyro has been in and out of my bag many times
I’ve constrained myself to “only” 4 MVP / Axiom midranges in my bag but it’s tough not to go higher when there are other options that have even more great flights 😅
MVP call the Entropy a putt and approach. Same with the Tempo and they are both speed 4. I'd call them both mids but decided to stick to MVP's conventions. Personally, I love the Entropy.
Tangent was GODLY for beginners and when I first started was my favorite disc for about a year then my swing got better and the disc got beat in and was undetectable for me and I ended up leaving it for a proxy
Astrophysicist and Engineers are the peeps to listen to about this sport that seriously depends on metrics, power and the wisdom of when to use which. He's an intelligent man who loves the sport...listen😅
