I’m glad this is the first comment I saw bc I immediately went down. I loved 52, great stories for black Adam and the question in particular check it out!
Gem Mint Collectibles When you do these videos, could you have a camera over your shoulder, so we could see what is in the books, and you could put a little square in the top right corner, so we could see it?
52 started in 2006 and ended up in 2007. This event took place one week after the conclusion of the Infinite Crisis miniseries. DC One Million also not a part of New 52, cuz it was published in 1998. New 52 started in 2011.
@@GemMintCollectibles 1 millon AND "52" are the bad ones in this list, however the base concept of your video is nice and nonetheless truly complete collection!
Dc: hey instead of making a new 52 Batman omnibus or a Dennis O'Neil Nightwing omnibus like people we want we make a 10th volume of golden age superman and a 10th volume of batman Marvel: instead of going back and printing old books that people want annihilation or maybe even a volume 2 of new avengers let's just like make some random thanos omnibus that's already collected in all out other omnibus... Maybe throw some random story in there too like a heroes reborn omnibus I love both of these companies but sometimes I think they make some really dumb decision with what they choose to print
Great video! In my opinion it perfectly highlights the poor decisions DC took when it comes to collected editions and that's why they're having these problems now. They really need to step up their game and start publishing proper omnibuses that contain full runs, not just "each of number 1", "each of number 0", "52 numbers from 52 weeks" that nobody seems to care about. From an absolute perspective, I want to see more of those. I prefer this format because it showcases the art better.
Awesome video!! I just wanted to say (in the most non asshole way possible) that the 52 and DC One Million events take place before the New 52, not during
One of the parts I liked about The New 52 was in an issue of Green Lantern where The Guardians all randomly said "52" and started looking at each other like they didn't know what just happened.
Great video. It's a great guide for collecting. I don't know what to do about the Absolute Wonder Woman volumes, because the omnibus is coming out. I totally understand why you feel the way that you do. Great video either way. 👊✌
i would collect everything in absolutes. best format ever made! The second one i really like is marvels Complete and Epic collections. Perfect sized around 500 pages books that easy to hold and read and provides plenty of content. I wish dc had something similar.
You should read the Red Hood Omni, its great overall. Haters gonna hate but in my option its much better than the rebirth run as its a team that actually has history.
Still think New 52 was such a weird move by DC, but luckily we got a few good runs out of it. I remember Aquaman being fantastic, Wonder Woman being pretty good, and I really enjoyed what they did with the Court of Owls. I'm also a big Red Hood fanboy, so his series made me happy. Unfortunately, it kinda ruined some of my favorite characters: Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Oracle, Stephanie Brown, Tim Drake, and I just got bored after a while. It felt increasingly hard to sift through and find the good stuff.
Bruh, I've always been a Marvel fan but, watching your channel since I found it & subbed during your NYCC vids I have purchased my 1st Omni & it's DC! I got Deathstroke & I'm hunting down Aquaman this weekend because of your recommendations! Thanks Gem & keep up the great work Sir! P.s. In your Omni vid on March releases & you mention how IST does not update the release dates or cancellations. Do they ever restock titles that they are out of?
Could you do a recent reads for your Usagi Yojimbo book? I would like to see a absolute version of the Mirage TMNT series. Perhaps it could be released in three volumes.
Hello all, just a note, but there seems to be some confusion here around Batman Omnibi. The New 52 Batman Omnibus is: Batman by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo Omnibus. That volume contains "Death of the Family", which is why it is not in the Batman and Robin Omnibus as mentioned in this video.
Probably is too late now for this comment. 52 is an excellent run I recommend to read (a shame the omnibus hc is just plain black), prior to OYL and after Infinite Crisis, as some said in the comments. Best Regards.
All I can think of when seeing this is how much money is sitting in that room he's in... good lord lol also, it would be cool to see and update to this list as I think quite a few new ones were added recently.
Greetings from Sydney Australia. I enjoy your Omnibus & Absolutes videos. They've been quite informative. I'm hoping the first (1963) X-Men Omnibus get's a reprint soon. Have you heard have any word on that one? I missed buying it and now it's a stupidly expensive whale. Do people actually pay such outrageously high prices for them? Thanks to you I've learned to stretch those spines. Cheers mate 😎
I'm an X-Men guy. I've recently branched out to Thor because Jason Aaron's run on Thor got me hooked, so I just bought vol. 1 and 2 of Jurgens' run. Looking at Simonson's next. Would anyone recommend a good DC book? I've never been interested in Superman, but I did like the Batman movies and cartoon as a kid in the 90s. I was thinking maybe Grant Morrison's run on Batman since I liked Morrison's New X-Men omni. I have also recently picked up Watchmen since it seems somewhat like X-Men. It's the only DC book I have so far. Any recommendations?
Yeah the Batman: Court Of Owls & City Of Owls trades are great reads. There's also a Night Of The Owls volume as well. I have the whole New 52 Batman run in trades (10 volumes) which I have to get into but they're well regarded & still generally available from what I can see.
Dunno if you've read Red Hood yet, but I read about the first 12 issues when they were knew and I enjoyed it. If you liked the Titans TV show you'll like it, it's heavily based on that imo.
I'm going to be honest, I didn't have a clue on what the Omnibus' were until I watched these videos (I mainly collect the volumes) but if I was to collect any run through this style, it would definatly be Green Lantern (Do I even need to say Geoff John's name so people know what I mean?).
A little late to this video, I don't think Red Hood and the outlaws is that bad honestly. I mean sure they changed his origins a tad bit but I'm enjoying the New 52 run omnibus quite a bit actually(; And Batman is getting a new 52 omnibus!
I wanted that Flash Omni but it is OOP I think, when do books get a reprint? I missed out on ASM vol 2 & 3, and a few others I don't want to pay the crazy markup people tack onto them. Not saying they aren't justified I am sure some of them are but I can't bring myself to pay almost 2x cover or more.
@@stormblade2895 Thanks! I am not sure why I thought it was OOP maybe I confused the two. I've added the Flash Omni to my wishlist on Amazon, hope I can get it at a good price. I'm reading the GJ's run in trades now. Is the Manapul run any good?
How can you own all these books and not know DC one million was from the 90s not 52 and 52 the omnibus was not as well cause that after infinite crissis new 52 has some good stuff
DC rebooted their whole universe from 2011-2016, making a relatively closed universe designed to attract new fans that lasted for 5 years. It had a pretty hit and miss success rate... I liked it.
@@mjcook3922 no worries. The Crushing Krisis website has some great reading orders and overviews that you might find helpful: if you prefer vids, I'll be posting a readers guide series to the new 52 on my channel this summer. Hopefully, at least! ;)
