I believe Corepunk has now changed it's character model. Now you can create your own character rather than using an existing premade hero class. There has recently been a closed alpha test that showed this.

Active BP JP player here, BLUE PROTOCOL information: So far, it only has released in JP. The zones with loading is fine since you are being transmitted to a different shard, the Global version plans to be 1 mega server with all players combined, including crossplay/crosssave with consoles. It does not have PvP. It has Time Attack & Score Attack. There are currently no life skills. It has fishing but there are no 'levels' for it. There is gathering but there are no 'levels', it's used for tons of crafting. Not an actual 'skill'. As of now, there are no pets but there is one extremely rare mount drop. The skills have been changed from 4 -> 8 a few months ago, meaning that each class now can use, you can swap between 2 skill bars of 4 without cooldown. There are no skill points, skills level up automatically, meaning it's seemless and you don't have to worry about managing it. You only have to unlock the Alpha & Beta version of skills which are acquired through adventurer board missions and dungeon drops at a low droprate. The gacha mechanics are not *insane* pay to win as you are trying to point out, it simply is for costumes and you CAN get 1.1x ticket for success or even 1.3x which, is reduntant since they give those with login bonuses and monthly events aswell as their livestreams. So trust me, as someone that has been playing BP JP since day 1, it does not affect it as much as one may think. Plugs & Sockets are completely obtainable f2p, you can't even get plugs by paying money which is what you need in the first place which is obtained through any dungeon or rush battle is commonly used for it. That chance can not be increased with tickets, it's solely for weapons & augmenting but as mentioned before, they give those for free all the time that you won't have to worry about it. There is a new system they added which is augmenting weapons recently which allows you to powerup your weapons further, it's quite simple to do so now since the weapons drop from dungeons quite easily now (They didn't before.) This game does not have a 'pay wall'. It is not comparable to a game like Lost Ark or T&L. Confirmation of release date has not been said as mentioned. There was a closed technical test (NDA) apparently not too long ago so praying for more news next year on this. Just figured I'd give some more details/information on this for those curious about BLUE PROTOCOL.
I’ve played Once Human everyday since the beta launched and I’ve never sank so much time in any games beta in my 25 years of gaming. It’s such a fun game solo and with friends. I hope the devs don’t ruin it come launch.
Being an old school mmo player that played Anarchy in beta im looking forward to seeing how Funcom do with the Dune MMO, and probably Throne and Liberty as it looks like it has some Lineage vibes
@@LameMule Miss my fixer with its full set of grid armor, and current mmo's are missing that specialization that was brought about my certain classes having abilities that "groups" can utilize, like the fixer being able to transport teams around the map via the grid
I'm actually playing Conan Exiles right now. It does some things that no other survival games do. Like the Thrall system. Being able to recruit, manage and lead a group of NPC's is really awesome. You can use them to "populate" your base too, make it feel very alive. I think they could do some good with the Dune game, I have faith in them.
kinda gotten sick of playing alone tho, being on pvp servers, i keep getting raided for no reason, spawn traps and land claiming has been so much of a problem, maps is full of hidden player foundations. on pve servers, clans have owned everything, no space for new players on the server even tho the clans themselves barely play in it, no one does boss raiding anymore. on pve-conflict where there's a set time of pvp or area, other malicious players would cause harm either by some tactic known only to pros
@@hestiashearth478 I just play single player for all those reasons. It's just me and my Thralls, which is why I like the game. I don't really need to worry about other players, I personally think survival games like this are way too toxic as multiplayer games. Too much risk of losing all your hard work because some mouth-breathers think it's funny.
You can’t be serious. If you want hope for Dune, DO NOT play Conan Exiles. The team is absolutely not capable of pulling off what Dune is presented to be.
I usually hate zergs in games like Rust but I’m looking forward to me and my group of friends raiding and fighting huge clans in dune awakening. Stealing from spice extractors and disappearing back into the deserts of Arrakis is going to be insane
Hello Sir! first of all, congrats for the 1M subs! well deserved. I do live in South Korea and currently start to play Throne and Liberty. I can guaranteed that the scenery is just stunning. Fluid no loading screen seriously impressive. At least in KR, the game have a battlepass (divided in both free and premium) which sell mostly cosmetics and "upgrades" which are used if u want to craft better equip. So is not properly P2W cause u can farm those, but if u pay u can access to better gear faster. (like most of asian mmorpg). Combat is quite nice, interesting skills with the possibility to make quite unique build as player preference. As downside for now I would say as most of asian game (like Lost Ark) there are plenty of codex, daily check in and stuff like these which give reward and are kinda annoying, plus some skills mechanics or effect are not well explained so need some time to understand (at least for me). I'm currently leveling up (now 20). From next week I will start to stream it if anyone is interested to see it
Dune Awakening is finally some fresh intuitive air in the mmo space in a very interesting way! It gives me little bit of vibes about how Star Citizen should somewhat be like on the surface..

I played Throne and Liberty in the Korean server and reached the max level which is 50 for now. I can safely say that this game is 100 pay-to-win. The majority BIS gears(not just purple gears, purple gears with actual useful traits and perks) are either behind an astronomical low dropping rate by doing dungeons or world bosses which are only eligible for ppl who joined a guild, the gears that dropped in world bosses won't go to your own pocket but instead go to the guild bank which only GM and Admin has perm to arrange which means if u are just a peasant nobody knows, u most likely won't get that gear even if its dropped by u. You may ask how this is pay to win, here is the catch, all the mats and gears that are listed on the trading post are using irl cash currency to trade with, no other way around. Surely u can grind mats to sell on TP to earn that currency but unless u going in absolute lunatic mode otherwise, the currency u earned compared to the gears' price is sand to ocean.
A piece of info from your Blue Protocol section that is no longer correct. The number of skills, they recently added a "2nd hot bar" you can swap to with 4 more skills (think its 4...part of me thinks they expanded it all to 12 skills total but it might be 8) Think bar swapping like ESO or something, but you don't swap your weapon with the bar.
Nah it's just 8 but it helps improved the game pace greatly. Also having played since launch p2w is not much of a problem unless you care about ranking which some premium monster summon could help, but all content in the game could be cleared without having to pay. The cosmetics gacha thing is not a big problem since the rate are good enough and they give out plenty of tickets, and there are more option to get some now. I'm F2P and have gotten at least one costume set for each monthly patches.If you're worrying about Weapons and Gears, they recently had a patch that improved the drop rate dramatically, you are guarantee to get rare drops for each run. The major problem with Blue protocol right now is that they don't have enough interesting content to keep you playing, rather just grinding content that hold you back long enough until the next patch. The game has potential and I hope Bamco keeps it alive long enough for it to be developed fully.
PIONER is also coming out as MMOFPS allegedly next year so we should be able to have quite the pick for shooter style mmos as well. All in all looking pretty positive for 2024
Well, it's also the only game in development that has felt comfortable donating itself to beta form and has received overwhelmingly high reviews. The fact that they just have to add filler content and iron our combat mechanics and dialog translations in beta is mind boggling. It's not a 50% finished game, it's an 80% finished game IN ITS SHOWCASE BETA. it's nuts.
Anybody else really skeptical of the Dune MMO? Hearing about the game is basically like listening to a kickstarter pitch where they're overpromising and trying to get literally everyone interested. Maybe I'm too cynical, but it all sounds like it wouldn't actually work as an MMO.
If they stick with the books it won't work because it's all about political battle, and the only enemy is the opposing army and the sand worms. Unless they make it like a hardcore survival where you manage your spice addiction and water supply
Just gonna throw in that Kritika:Zero will be re-releasing 25th january 2024, if you like hyper stylized action combat KR MMOs I recommend giving it a shot
im playing throne and liberty and it's actually pretty fire if you like these style games, im a huge archeage fan and player and it's very similar but better progressions systems that are not as punishing
Thanks for this video! I appreciate the concise and objective glimpse into each upcoming game. I know that seems self-evident, but so many videos these days are heavily colored by the youtuber's bias. There's nothing wrong with that, but in days when so many are racing to create the most hilarious, most meme-ish video, I appreciate a grounded, restrained video. As for the games, Once Human has me cautiously interested. I've seen a number of "promising" survival games, but holding out hope for Once Human. At the moment, only worried about what appears to be bullet sponge enemies, reminding me of games like Anthem.
Literally every video is different based off the RU-vid biases, that is why people watch different creators for different reason...there is no objective take on any game because no matter how good or absolute shit a game is some people will love or hate it
@@samgoff5289 That is fair, but it's also quite evident when videos lean into memeish, outrageous behavior for clicks and entertainment, and when some (like this video) are more interested in reasonable coverage. Edit: The best ones (SkillUp, for example) even acknowledge their own biases and state them so viewers understand it's not purely objective statements, but colored by bias.
Someone's opinion of what is and is not biased is itself biased, I guarantee the people you think of as the most biased have people in their comments saying the exact same thing you are saying here.
Once human is probably my most anticipated game from this list (besides Pax Dei). The only worry I have about the game is the energy system. They could easily just make it a P2W game by monetizing that system.
I'm not saying they won't but they would have to rework the energy system entirely, right now it might as well just be called money. You get from doing damn near anything , and you can sell your almost broken tools for the same amount as a new one, energy is very easy to get

The MMO industry is in a very sad state when you have to include "Survival Crafting" games to even be able to make a video at all for the entire year. They're a very different genre. I think there's a pretty big chance that Tarisland will get released in 2024 and Jade Dynasty World might make it in late 2024 but I would more realistically expect it to be delayed to 2025.
For me its really gonna be Project LLL, as much as i want to try Blue Protocal, its being published by Amazon. So me being in the Middle East. I wont be able to play it. Still have not been able to play Lost Ark hehe. Just hope Project LLL does get released into this region somehow.
I'm definitely going to play Corepunk at work. I've tried the beta, they just gotta add HP regeneration and smooth out the animations and this game will be fine. Sadly, I don't think Corepunk will ever have the population of players to keep the game alive. At home, I'm going to definitely be looking at Once Human which I been following and Dune awakening (have heard but not seen anything until now).
Have you looked into Chrono Odyssey? it was suppose to be released 2023. However, it is expected now in 2024. The game play trailer that is released is beautiful.
Anarchy Online was an amazing MMO at the time, I played that game daily for like 5 years, till WoW came out and took over. So I have high hope Dune will be good.
There's one that was missed, The First Descendant. It's scheduled for 2024 and they took a ton of feedback from the last few beta tests and changed quite a few things.

You are correct, ashes of creation will not come out in 2024. I would be utterly shocked! What I am expecting is the alpha 2 to release. Because they confirmed it, just not the quarter. Lets see what happens :D
ESO player here. ESO has been keeping what's coming in 2024 under even tighter wraps than usual. As you say, with it being ESO's tenth anniversary, whatever is coming likely will be pretty big.

The Marvel MMO from DI fell apart a good while back. It seems that it was more of an attempt by DI to sell Marvel on the idea of doing an MMO for them rather than there being an actual contract between the two. After it all went down, the DI head, Jack Emmert, left DI and enticed a LOT of the devs from DCUO to go to his new home at Jackalope (now Jackalyptic) Games.
About Once Human, yes it has a gacha system for legendary and seasonal blueprints for weapons and armor. However, you can find high grade blueprints by looting specific chests in strongholds. The gacha system is more focused (until now) in specific season-based gear. Also, the "energy mechanics" mentioned in an earlier video is not actually energy as in "you have X amount of energy to do stuff per day and cay pay to refill" (like Resin in Genshin), but it is actually currency. You use it for crafting, trading, buying blueprints and equipments. It is equivalent to gold/money in any other game. Until now the only p2w mechanics are the gacha ones which is not game changing, at least not at my current lvl (~Lv30), and I have no trouble using the equipment I find in chests and in farming materials to upgrade them.

As somebody who has played Blue Protocol in JP I think your description of the p2w aspects is rather inaccurate and I want to address it. Yes there is a gacha system, but it is primarily for cosmetics. There *are* non-cosmetic rewards but they're mostly junk meant to pad out the reward pool and make the cosmetics (the stuff that people are actually doing gacha for) more rare. So it's mostly about the cosmetics with some mediocre other prizes nobody even really wants. Bitch about gacha all you want (I certainly do), but this is nothing like gacha games where it's a necessary way to gain power. You can never even engage with the gacha system and you'll be fine. Plugs themselves have to be farmed. There is also no failure chance when installing them in your weapon. However each plug's effect has a range of values it can give and what you actually get is random. There are basically two ways to try to improve a plug: 1. get another plug of the same type and install it again so you get another roll. 2. Use a tuning ticket which rerolls all currently installed plugs. Since it rerolls all of them by default there are also ability keep tickets you can spend to *not* reroll specific abilities, for example if you already have them at max value. These are the tickets you are alluding to I believe but they're not really related to gacha tickets (which just give free pulls on the cosmetic gacha). They can be acquired from the battle pass though so that's a little p2w, but keep in mind you never had to use these tickets at all since you can always just farm more plugs and reroll that way. I should note that the entire tuning system is really aimed at endgame min-maxers who want absolute BiS gear. It's not really necessary to engage with it at all. The bonuses from the plugs are on top of all your base stats so the ranges aren't *that* significant in the grand scheme of things. You can usually just install whatever once and you're fine. This stuff also doesn't carry over to a new weapon anyway and new weapons are being released fairly frequently so it does feel like a bit of a waste of time for all but the most dedicated players. Anyway, I've never felt like the system really pushes the player to spend money. Rather it feels more like it's there just to give endgame players something to do...as the game otherwise doesn't have much of an endgame (which is a more significant criticism in my opinion).
I know it's a bit late to comment, but actually Ashes of Creation will release Alpha 2 version somewhere in Q3 this year, which will be a permanent test server with limited features, but the devs will gradually add new content, so by the time the game is ready to launch live it will be almost feature complate. So i just thought it deserved more than 3 seconds in this video.
I've been level cap in Korean live Throne & Liberty for about a week now. It's easily my most anticipated game of 2024. I was worried about pay to win until I experimented with the crafting and end game weapon/armor enchanting and skill growth. Yes people can buy materials to fast track it but the grind is nothing like Lost Ark where paying was almost a requirement if you wanted to be able to raid in time before the next raid came out. And all your materials can be either combined to get the higher tier or dissolved to get the lower tier. So if you have way too many blue weapon growth stones you can make 1 purple with 5 blue. Or dissolve one blue in to 5 green. They did crafting and gearing so well. No matter what content you do you'll be gaining a material that will always be relevant. And if you're worried about the combat watch the newest video I posted on my profile. Combat feels reallllll good even with 180ms to Korea.
It looks like I'll go back to FFXIV for 2024. Once Human's gacha system shoots itself in the foot before release. It would have been a really cool pay to play game. Corepunk's latest footage from the Closed Alpha Test is... worrying with how slow movement is.
Semi-relevant discussion: What is the verbiage/terminology used to describe a genre of MMORPGs that have a combat system where you mostly auto-target the enemy NPCs like in WoW or GW2?
The only MMO I would consider nowadays is only if some talented Korean studio would make a reboot, or perhaps a sequel to TERA. I'm really sad how that game turned out in its later years until it was shut down. I am aware that it's possible to keep playing it on PC with private servers but that's not what I'm talking about. I really mean an actual team behind a real meaningful project to bring back that universe again, but maybe with a new 'take' on it, a reboot might be best (better than just a direct sequel). But I know I'm dreaming in colors. The main reason though is because the dynamic Combat system of TERA remained the absolute best in the field of MMOs the moment it came out, until it was shut down. The only comparative I can think of is maybe Black Desert's combat system, it was similar (but not completely identical). I still think that TERA's system was better - ultimately - because it had custom chain combos that the player could create (I.E. follow-up skills, in a 'chain'). It was fantastic how we could build up our class in TERA. And the soundtrack by Inon Zur was very beautiful and memorable (very similar to the kind of music you hear in Dragon Age Origins, also composed by Inon Zur). To be completely honest every single other (new, recent) MMOs I'm looking at don't seem interesting at all. I think I've been spoiled by the "type" of MMOs we used to get when we had the MMO craze of the late 2000s to the mid 2010s; that's when - in my opinion - that the best ones came out (but unfortunately many of them degenerated over the following years).
for throne of liberty, warframe for exemple use a premium currency for player trade, platinum, but it's going fine, great even, this let people farm valuable equipment and mods to access paid content (such as cosmetics)
I'm a full fledged ESO junkie with 8000+ hours and have long said the only game that would get me away from ESO would be a Mass Effect MMO, but I'm interested in trying Chrono Odyssey, Throne and Liberty, and Dune:Awakening (I did sign up for the console beta testing) And of course hyped for the new ESO chapter, we'll find out in January, and should get a dungeon DLC in March

I've played the Japanese version of Blue Protocol. It's a very pretty game at the time it was announce, but since then other games have been released with the same type of anime graphics. The gameplay is very shallow sadly.
Bro, I love your channel, as I feel that you and I are both older guys who are always open to that old school MMORPG nostalgia, and usually dissappointed with most modern MMORPGs. However, I feel that you should be playing the Throne & Liberty open beta and streaming it right now. I swear, most people playing right now were pleasantly surprised and are only saying good things about it. Also, AGS made some changes that make it NOT P2W. You can buy high level gear off the AH with Lucent but then you have to grind / play the game to upgrade to top power. Every F2P player can earn EVERYTHING in the game by simply playing it. That is not P2W. Bro, the visuals and fidelity are out of sight AND it runs like BUTTER EVEN IN POPULATED AREAS! Sorry for caps, I'm just really pumped about it and did NOT go into it expecting much, but damn, and I impressed. They are also revamping the combat system to make it more complex and rewarding. You'll be able to customize your skills! Everything about this game is fun. I'll admit, I'm glad they are adding to / overhauling the combat because that was the ONLY thing I thought might be a bit drab, but honestly staff and daggers is FUN. This game has tons to do. PLEASE take another look at it, give it some fresh perspective, and do a vid dude! By the way, I'm 46 so I remember the old days. I feel like MMORPGs are going someplace new with this one.
Conan Exiles was a amazing experience with friends, at least until a group of people raided and destroyed our base. So I'm interested to see Funcoms Dune Awakening.
