As a Vegas fan I’m glad you touched on our first season. The retiring of #58 was really emotional, having lost a friend in that shooting. That 17/18 team and the cup run that year healed a broken city and captured our hearts in the process.

7:59... for the Boston Bruins, honorable mention going to Ray Bourque at Phil Esposito's number retirement ceremony. Bourque was originally assigned 7 (Esposito's old number) and developed the number into his own, and got the blessing of Esposito to keep wearing it after 7 got retired. At the ceremony at hand, Bourque surprised Esposito by taking off his 7 sweater and voluntarily changing his number to 77 to allow Esposito to solely own 7 on the rafters. If you have a chance, check it out... one of the classiest moments in all of sports

For the Oilers, there's also so many iconic pieces of lore from the `06 playoff run. Hemsky's series winner against Detroit, Smyth losing some teeth but coming back and setting up Horcoff for a triple-OT winner, the Pisani OT winner in Game 5 of the Cup Finals. Like with what you said though about Montreal... the building itself became so iconic over its history. Aside from the Forum and Maple Leaf Gardens, there's an argument for Northlands Coliseum a.k.a. Rexall Place being the most storied Canadian NHL arena in history.

I think, that the most iconic moment of some teams occured off the ice. I think that the LA Kings most iconic moment was trading for Gretzky and the Dallas Stars most iconic moment was the 2017 Draft, where the drafted three corner stones of their current roster. Well, that are probably two ideas for future videos, if you haven't already recorded them: Every teams most iconic draft and every teams most iconic trade.

Great list!! Couldn't have been easy selecting, especially for some of the teams with such long histories!! Really just need to say 'thanks' for making Sakic's hand-off to Borque the #1 moment for the Avalanche! I'm a Leafs fan, but moreover a true Canadian - seeing Sakic do such a selfless, class-act show of sportsmanship helped make him one of the greatest players to me! May not be the biggest moment - but the Leafs tribute & honouring Salming so shortly before his passing (it was meant to be), seeing MY hometown hero, Darryl Sittler (St. Jacobs/Kitchener-Waterloo) crying as he holds Borje's hand high will forever be a highlight (albeit a sad one).

My favorite is either the 3-1 Blackhawks comeback against the Bruins. Two original 6 teams going at it for the Cup was epic. The Patrick Kane goal against the Flyers takes the cake though. I remember watching that live and was so happy because that was the first Championship I’ve ever saw live for a Chicago team and it happened in such a miraculous way. I just remember everyone being so confused then just celebrating because we realized we just won the cup. That memory of watching your team win a Championship in such a miraculous way was amazing. Watching the Rangers 1994 Championship is special because I also got to experience that in my lifetime and you can just relate to the fans. Ironically that Rangers team was lead by an ex Blackhawk coach Mike Keenan who lead us to the Cup finals and Chicago almost had a chance to win 2 Championships in the NHL and the NBA. If only the 92 team won the Cup while the Bulls at the same time won the Finals then that 1992 year would have been the greatest year in Chicago sports history.

Honestly, Beniers scoring the game winner seven seconds into OT against the Caps, or Daccord becoming the first goalie to get a shutout in Winter Classic history might be more iconic than Eberle's Game 4 winner against the Avs (not to knock on Ebs). Or, considering how this season is going, Bjorky's goal with 17.6 left in Game 7 against the Stars.
