Jorge studied medicine at Notre Dame University before switching entirely to music studies. He actually wrote a musical about it called "My Heart Says Go," which is criminally underrated and overshadowed, and I can not recommend it enough! If you want to check out more of Jay's music in the future, that would be an awesome place to start.

Jorge also goes by Jay or Mr. Jalapeño if those are easier to remember. He is the creator of Epic and voice of Odysseus. Armando Julián voices Eurylochus (the guy who tells Odysseus about their food problem). Eurylochus is also Odysseus' brother in law. Steven Dookie voices Polites (the one who pointedout the island with light to Odysseus) and is Odysseus' best friend :]

Its super cool. Some people he knew, but he did most auditions through TikTok. Its like he was restricted due to covid but it turned out to be a HUGE breakthrough for Epic.

Some people Jorge knew and some he didn’t. He just is incredibly good at mixing the voices, directing the voice actors and of course very good at singing himself as Odysseus. He just finds the absolute perfect people to play the characters.

EPIC was composed in parts thanks to TikTok. A lot of the cast were casted through TikTok auditions, but of course there's also some space for Jorge's friends and family in the cast, as well as some headhunting done by Jorge himself. Jorge is the main man behind it, composing and writing the songs, as well as singing for the lead character, Odysseus. He's the head of this entire thing, and he's doing an excellent job. If you're wondering about the rereleases of the two first sagas, those are because of a rights issue, not because of a change in vision. Those sagas were released through a production company, but Jorge and the rest of the cast have not recieved any of the royalties they are owed for that music. I don't know if they're fighting a legal battle for them, but Jorge has now rereleased those two sagas by himself, which is the version you're listening to now. Jorge and the cast recieve royalties for the new releases, as they should. I think it's important to push that there's been no ask from him to not listen to the old releases, so if you want to go watch some of the animatics that use the old sound, you are not discouraged to do so.

Helpful tip for remembering the names. Odysseus is obvious so skip. Eurylochus is like “you really cuss” and is our practical man who’s had it with these [spoilers] Polites is our sweet boy and is the most polite. Hope that helps!

Epic fandom... Jesus, they can piece things together themselves, let them go on their own journey like you all did. Yeah its a bit harder without the animatics but the major plot points are all pretty explicit eventually. May i also remind you that untill the Underworld saga, the infant's fate was also not entirely clear...

Better Epic scholars will probably have more detailed answers, but Jorge picked his cast everywhere, from people he went to school with to TikTok auditions. I'm glad you guys enjoyed Full Speed Ahead, it often doesn't get as much enthusiasm as the previous two, possibly because of the lack of infanticide-related drama.

The two singing in this song, Eurylocus (Armondo Julián) and Polites (Steven Dookie) both personally know Jorge and will record all their lines with him in person, however they met him differently. Armondo I believe already knew Jorge through their days at the University of Notre Dame, while Jorge was conceptualizing this and actively writing his other CRIMINALLY underrated musical called _My Heart Says Go_ . Steven Dookie met Jorge through Tik Tok where Jorge continually posts little snippets and BTS of his work on Epic. Later sagas included a few guest singers who I *think* aren't always able to record with him physically. There's an archived live stream on Jorge's RU-vid from when the very first saga ever dropped, and in it Jorge and Steven talk about the comedically adorable way that Steven met jorge and got cast as Polites. Loved the video, I look forward to more Epic reactions from you guys (pun intended).

Some are people he knew beforehand, but some of them were strangers he found through social media either through their auditions or he contacted them personally after seeing their work. Location and distance doesnt really matter to Jorge when it comes to casting! Also, these are still the same people from the first recording! There are some differences in the mixing and vocal performances, of course. The reason that they had to re-do the first two Sagas is because the company they were working with werent paying them. These new versions (and Sagas 3- onwards) are now produced and published under Jorge's own name! Kinda like (Taylor's version)

The wonderful harmonies at 14.40ish to full speed a head was a lucky accident. Jorge said when he would try a line with odysseus for the harmony above he would mute everything else and listen to the harmony and normal line. He recorded a few different harmony lines and instead of turning everything off except the melody and one harmony. He turned on just all the harmony lines he had done and they went so well that he kept them in. I love the fact that he lets gis fans know little insites into his world. You guys should really react to the animatics that go with the songs. You get so much more context of what's happening throughout the whole thing and they can make some parts less confusing compared to just listening to the audio tracks! So much love has gone into the making of the animatics, too. This fandom is incredibly talented and dedicated to their craft!

All the singers are the same from the Original recordings. Jorge just re-recorded the first two sagas as he wasn’t getting royalties from the first two sagas. The production company he was a part of (Blair Russell Productions) basically wanted all exclusive rights to his music, and he didn’t earn a penny from them even though the originals had over 200 million streams. There was also a lawsuit back in November that got dropped in January. He basically had to create his own production company, and build a recording booth in his room. He’s been releasing his albums through his own production company (Winion Entertainment LLC) since then. Jorge keeps us pretty updated on all the behind-the-scenes and writing process. It’s really interesting.

Check out the animatics 100%. The songs are incredible as their own, but the fan videos help push the emotions forward even further (if you can believe that). Just make sure the ones you watch are completely finished. There’s two, I believe, in the Circe saga that weren’t, and some people didn’t know that when they pulled the videos up.

This song is absolutely phenomenal! I really love how grand and (yeah I'm trying so hard not to be cliché) epic this song and all the others feel. There is a song that was cut from the musical called Your Light. I do recommend you hear that next, before or immediately after the next one. It was annimated.

It does help if you are already familiar with the story. But the child is referenced in later lyrics. Odysseus is supposed to have thrown the child from the wall of the city. His humanity is already slipping away as explored in "Just a Man" when he poses the question, "When does a man become a monster?" In this song we have Odysseus (the leader), Polites (the optimist), Eurylochus (the pragmatist) arguing over how to survive.

lots of ppl insisting you watch animatics, it's really fine if you don't. They're all really good and made by very talented people but they're like, separate media. You already find so much to talk about with just the songs and you seem to be understanding the story just fine. You may end up getting bogged down into one artist's interpretation and get confused when it doesn't pan out that way in different animatics, or even worse; some are just straight up spoilers. (ranging from a teaser of the next song to explicitly drawing what a vague prophecy is saying long before you're supposed to understand it.) If you choose not to use them for this series I'd still recommend checking a bunch out at a later time since they really are so so good though!

I get why of course your watching the soundtracks directly from Jorge but I do also recommend watching the animatics too be it in reactions or afterwards cuz it just adds so much being able to see the actions, even with the different minor interpretations by different artists I think it just hits so good. Regardless these have been great :)

I personally believe Urilicus is the true antagonist of the crews journey. Pay attention to every impulse he has and action he takes.

I would recommend looking up animatics after each arc is finished that way you could get the complete story.

Hmm i feel like for this format it wouldn't hurt to be a lil bit more informed about names of the performers in each song. I know u guys want engagement thats why you say to just comment it, but if you will be sitting down recording the album in one go, it would be better to just pull up the artist list cause it could get pretty annoying if you stay oblivious for the whole album reaction. I think it's only respectful to acknowledge the artist names in full. Dont worry about engagement, this fandom will info dump you regardless.
