Got my Atoll and used it to photograph the Milky Way over a raptor sculpture in Borrego Springs, CA on Monday morning. I really loved how it performed. Thanks again for bringing it to my attention.
The fact how fast all "photography accessories" companies, such as Sunwayfoto, Ulanzi and many many more started copying Atoll, tells you how revolutionary it is :D new studio looks cool :D.
Hi John, it’s a great piece of kit, I have a Canon version for use on my R5 and R6. One big issue for Canon R5 shooters is that the bracket blocks the remote shutter port as it’s located on the front of the camera and if you manage to get your cable connected you can no longer rotate the bracket. No problem on the R6 as that uses a side port. I have contacted SC and they say they are aware of the issue and are working on a larger diameter unit which should address the issue.
I was turned on to the Sigma Art 50mm by Kamil Pekala, a very smart dude. I bought it, and realized it was equivalent 80mm with my astromoded Rebel T7i APSC dah.. So I kept it and bought the 35mm. Your also right, amazing glass, even wide open. I now also own the 20 haha. Are we nuts, spending all this $? I forgot about your site, Kamil also raved about this ingenious mounting solution. Brilliant minds... It's fate, that you just published the video about the farmer, bringing you back to my attention. Just this week, I've been building a twin camera bracket, mount for my SW SA GTI. I want to mount a Rokinon 135 on Canon 5D MK IV, and the Art 50 on the T7i. Want to image RHO AFIUCI (spelling?) End of June when I'm on vacation (holiday) in bortle 3, over a South facing lake. Any tips on your design? Yah the Sigma's are heavy. My exact concern was L Bracketts and cable access, secure clamping. Intervelometor plugs into side on t7i. And I'm using an ASiair, so USB for image transfer. Sorry for being so long winded. You've got me stoked!
Hey Mike, yes Kamil is a very intelligent bloke, My setup is very basic, just a ballhead, pano head, 2way head and an arca swiss bar to branch off for the 2 cameras. The key is the ATOLL brackets for balance and access to cables
@@johnrutterphotography Placing my Atoll order today. You said you used the "Vixen' adapter from original SW SA. Then you also mentioned the counterweight Vixen bar. As a vertical support. I'm going to have to read the article you refer to when explaining the rig. Thanks. It's fun to build stuff. Especially when amazing things result!
Thanks for making me aware of this cool product - I reached out to them about getting one for my Nikon Z6ii as it was confusing if the C or D model would be best for using prime Nikkor Z lenses on it. I love your work!
I have been wanting an L bracket, so I was very excited and quickly jumped to the web to buy this. But it seems there are a lot of exclusions with EF glass, including my go-to lens the Tamron 15-30 f/2.8, and 24-105 f/4 L is "not recommended". Bah humbug.
I have got one from Atoll and I love it .Unfortunately, many more - well known manufaturers like Smallrig , Nisi , Sunwayfoto , etc have copied this bracket already. Not too sure if Atoll has sold the patent to them or not 😅
I extend my gratitude for your thoughtful suggestion. May I humbly request a favor of you to kindly provide me with a comprehensive list of accessories utilized in your twin setup? glance at the I feel certain elements of them are not visible in the video and not familiar to me. Your kind assistance in this matter would prove immensely valuable to me, as I intend to replicate this setup for my own personal use.
