note: this video holds all of their cameos. i know there are plenty of other references in other media, like Hexane, but this video only points out their cameos with a few references I personally enjoy

@@Nerdieo I figure since you mentioned Quote's hat as a cameo, his gun would count too. Figured I'd mention the Polar Star is a weapon in Enter the Gungeon. Hopefully that ends up in the update too. I was waiting for that factoid.

Me either, but the struggle to find other machine-gun weilding robot girls leads this to be a Curly Brace reference, haha. Plus, the timing makes sense. Cave Story 3D released only a few months before Uprising!

both Quote and Balrog are Co-op (and therefore Buddy in a box familiars) babies in Repentance. gungeon also references the two through the Polaris gun and it's Synergies

I believe they were in Afterbirth as well, but I completely forgot! And I knew about the Gungeon reference, but this was just focusing on Cameos. Cave Story is referenced in a WHOLE lot more, haha

You're reactions to these videos are making me stupid happy, haha. It's such a dope reference!! Nicalis always refers to Curly as a machine gun robot girlfriend, and when I played the tutorial, I like freaked out as a kid, haha

@@Nerdieo That's a really cool reference too. I've played KI:U since like 2013 (i didn't even know Cave Story existed) and i never knew this would reference anything, let alone reference a game i would eventually play and love.

I don’t know how I feel about the design of the nicalis cameos I know that even in cave story, quote and curly had humanoid designs But I wish there were more designs of quote and curly that interpret them as more robotic in looks

I'm personally not a fan of the designs from Nicalis. I love their Blade Strangers design, but that's more on the doing of Studio Saizensen. The Runner 2 trailer also has good art, but for the most part, they haven't had truly massive design overhauls since their original games, which sucks

There 2 more references and cameos: The first its in the Game "Critadel" from Nicalis, you can play as Curly too... mayorly its a full skin of her, but you can full play with she and even complete the game just with her alone and upgrade her power with more powers. The second its on the Game "Enter the Gungeon", you can get the random weapon "Polaris" (polar star) and you can use it as like the game= if you kill enugh enemies you can upgrade 3 levels of power, or with each damage, you drop one level... and if you get a Synergy Item you can have the Machine Gun from Curly Brace

There's been a couple since this video was made, I wish I could've added those! Another one I wish I could've added is that Quote( along with the Polar Star, the Booster v2.0, Ballos, and Balrog) are a part of the Binding of Isaac board game, Four Souls, but only through the game's expansion!

In the game Epic Battle Fantasy 3 (an pretty cool rpg), you can find Curly itself saying the phrase which starts the Sacred Chamber, also when you got drown after the fight against the Core "Did you know that the witch Jenka had a brother..." suddenly realizing that shes nnot in her world, and invites you to play a minigame. She's in the final zone of the game, some rooms before the final boss

Haha, I know a lot fo people know about it actually, but this is a Quote and Curly based video. Had I done a Cave Story reference video, this could've been much longer, as there are more references to Cave Story than actual cameos

You should know!! its another cool reference in a indie videogame for both quote and curly. its on Enter the gungeon, its a weapon thats clearly the polar star and if you level up that weapon it turns on the machine gun. they are very poweful weapons!!

Thank you so much!! And yes, the Cave Story beta is on the top of the list and was originally supposed to be my first video into these essays on the game, but I want to uncover as much as possible, and then more I dig, the more I find to add to the script! It'll easily be my longest video on the game, but also most interesting, IMO!
