I own an all black 97 and the red-white n-Code 90 frame. I love the feel of the 90 n-Code better. I would like to,buy an original San Vincent Pro Staff which was used by Edberg, Sampras, Courier and young Federer. Do you know whether the Federer rackets are made of pure graphite or do they still contain a bit of Kevlar fibres as did the original Pro Staff.

@@MikeKomen Yes, when Wilson released the K90, they were essentially releasing Roger’s frame to the public minus customization. To me it’s not only the best playing 90, but it’s also the best looking. Cant beat the Darth Fed look sporting the K90 at the US Open night matches in ‘07. Took a while for Fed to adjust to the 97 inch frame - he went years without winning a slam. Wish he had stayed with the 90; he bagelled both Novak and Rafa with the 90!

I've heard once that the 90 sq inches frame Roger used actually was a 88 sq inches custom frame with a more opened 16x19 string pattern, slightly different from the retail version. I think these guys in the ATP use racquets all above 360g strung with 340+ swing weight and I believe wilson custom made the graphite and kevlar composition of the frames too. At the time Federer reached 30s, I would guess those midsize frames were impacting more on his arm, even with the natural gut and luxilon setup. He said in 2014 that he often shanked shots with the mid, probably hitting a lot in the top dead zone of the stringbed. So he decided to change to a bigger frame, at the time, the red and black RF97. For the paintjobs, Imo the K90 and the black/red BLX 90 are the best paintjobs Wilson has ever made for Pro Staff, not a huge fan of the others. But the blx ninety amplifeel I would say it has the best feeling for me, a really classic midsize frame. The V13 97 looks amazing, it give us that great "ps85 classic vibe" from the 80s. Great video mate and keep it up!

The first retail Pro Staff Tour and following racquets were criticized for having a tighter string pattern at the 3 to 9 patterns. Fed's racquets were 4 between the PWS and the retail versions were 5.

The customization that pros use make every racket absolutely identical..... Indistinguishable if you closed your eyes and felt them. You can't say that about two, supposedly identical, rockets bought retail. The manufacturing process is so impercise that the common Joe going down to Dick's Sporting Goods could pick up the same model from the same manufacturer and every single one of those rackets will feel different to an advanced player. Even things as basic as grip size and weight, which you would think would be easy to replicate, are different even though they may be labeled as the same size/weight. Then you get to the finer points of not just weight but balance point, flexibility, swing weight, etc. The people who build out these rackets for pros, one of which I used to play tennis with, are elite craftsman. While it sounds counter intuitive, I think the thing that would surprise most people is most pros use extremely heavy rackets compared to those being marketed.

In a side by side comparison it has actually been revealed that apart from a but cap and 5 grams under the top bumper there isn't anything special about Rogers rackets, the ones he actually uses on tour. You can easily diy it. Other then the cushion pads on the lower bridge and stringelings on the top cross strings. With a natural gut on the mains and a poly ont crosses. With a low 21,5/22 kilo's if i remember correctly. Any good stringer can set it up that you are actually playing with the same exact setup as federer does. Where other players manufacturers are using pro stock 250 grams bare frames with no balance or weight put into it. who are only usable after extensive tuning by a specialist tuner. Adding weight by putting in silicone and lead on specific places in very specific amounts. Then trying to match them exactly to each other can drive a man into madness. Non pro stock Head racket are the worst to match. Wilson pro staff are the best factory matched rackets who need very little tuning to match them exactly. I am on my third series of pro staff skipped the countervail version. Honestly waiting for prices to drop a little on the v.13 version or get some second hand ones because of the hours I am using them compared to recreational players. Most have just been warmed up compared to me. Making 30 hours a week on court easy as a coach alone, have a background in stringing technician. As I player I have only be capable of enjoying 97 version of the pro staff series. The smaller sizes where asking too much of my skills I had at the time to get any good use out of them in a way I would aid my game. For most 315 grams is the ideal racket. The 290 is a perfect beginner racket also. It should stay totally black for my taste. It like the early ford's you can order it in any colour as long as it is black

Not even close. You are fooling yourself if you think his stringer throws in a little lead tape and that's it. The racket he uses would feel (and play) nothing like what you would buy off the shelf. Other than weight changes to adjust the balance point and swing weight, the vast majority of the changes would occur in the handle to adjust the racket's flexibility. Don't confuse handle with grip where you're thinking the only difference is some sort of different size grip. Besides being a phenomenal tennis player, Roger is extremely astute when he comes to business. What do you think makes him more money........, saying something like .......I want to play with a racket just like everyone picks up down at Dick's sporting goods .......OR......... this thing is so customized, it's nothing like the racket you're gonna buy? Trust me, his racket is nothing like the one hanging on the shelf at the local sporting goods store.. Absolutely nothing.

I am from Sri Lanka and back in 2007 I was 13. I still remember begging my dad for a kfactor after seeing RF play with it. It was a lot of money for us Sri Lankans and I felt really guilty asking for expensive gear. My dad of course obliged and I wanted to save him some money by opting for the cheaper k-zen. 17 years later, I’m 30, now in the US and still use it as my main racket. It still kicks ass and my dad jokes around that this is probably the best ROI purchase he has ever made lol I might buy a RF97 just so that I can preserve my k-factor. The folks I play with say there is quite a steep adjustment period and can cause injuries since it about 20g heavier.

So what you are saying is, the other two “goats” couldn’t even come close to competing on level playing field racket wise, and had to resort to game improvement rackets right out of the gate to have a chance until Federer’s age finally allowed them to overcome him on occasion and even then Fed’s didn’t change rackets for another five years? So on a level racket related playing field, Federer has like 60 plus majors?
@MikeKomen

More that it took Federer a while to feel comfortable switching racquets to suit the new baseline and topspin heavy modern game. Very impressive for sure that he was able to adapt and eventually make that change to stay on top of the game. Not easy.

Also, find a more aesthetic area to shoot your videos in. That doorway makes your video look cheap. Also, put the camera at your eye level (not above your eyes, or below). This connects you to your audience and watch the headroom (space above your head). Too much headroom makes you look artificially small and psychologically diminishes you in the minds of your viewers. Also, dress appropriately. The jacket looks a little sloppy.
