Djokovic still has more clay titles overall though, so if we are going off the stats then yes, Djokovic is the second best, but don’t get me wrong prime Thiem was a monster on clay, he just wasn’t consistent enough and unfortunately got injured.

In 2011 Djokovic defeated Nadal in 2 back to back clay masters finals which was just unprecedented. As for Thiem? Well Roddick had a 5-4 h2h against Djokovic, but was Roddick a better player than Djokovic? No, so you can’t take much from Thiem leading the h2h against Djokovic on clay. They didn’t play many times on clay, but don’t get me wrong, prime Thiem was a monster on clay, it was just unfortunate he got injured and wasn’t the same after that.
