The margin being around .2%(rb19) vs .8%(mercedes 2014-16) to the next best car. That being said, the dominance on quali pace was determined after the first two races, and the rest of the grid have improved quite a bit during the season. Secondly, Perez is not really that bad, although he isnt world champion material, but still he pales compared to Verstappen. I don't like it as Ferrari fan, but these are facts.

@y_fam_goeglyd
@y_fam_goeglyd 7 месяцев назад
You'd think the winner, maybe even the top 3, would get it renewed free as part of the prize. Btw, not all drivers are rich. Some pay a lot for their seat. They have to bring in X amount for the drive, then the only pay they get is from personal sponsorship, and that may just be enough to pay for that year's expenses. It's why some drivers in the past had to leave F1 (particularly in the days of the huge entry numbers), not because they weren't good enough, but because they couldn't get a better car in a team that could pay _them_ (often purely because there weren't any spare seats, or they couldn't bring in enough sponsorship. Weirdly, some drivers have been paid to drive but had to bring in millions in sponsorship regardless. Book cooking maybe? It would not surprise me!). Not sure how expensive super licences were when they were introduced, but I doubt it took long before they became prohibitively expensive for the "good enough but still need to pay" drivers (as opposed to the "he's definitely going to be a star" ones).

Actually, Verstappen scored 101.8% more points than Perez in P2. Or you could say that Perez scored 49.6% as many points as Verstappen, which invertedly means that the gap from Perez to Verstappen was 50.4% of Verstappen's points. I'm arguing/correcting semantics here but this way, his lead feels even more impressive.
@AureliusEnterprises
@AureliusEnterprises 7 месяцев назад
It's not just semantics. When you use percentages in a comparison, you should always set the thing that you compare it to at 100%. Therefore, saying that Max 101,8% more points is the only correct way of going about it.

@plazasta
@plazasta 7 месяцев назад
@@NotApplicableF1 the way you phrased it, it's not counterintuitive, it's plain wrong though. Scoring twice as many points is not 50.4% more points, so either you should've phrased that statistic differently, or Wikipedia's calculation for Mansell's record is wrong as well. (for the sake of completeness, if you wanna phrase this as "X% more points than second place", then Nigel Mansell scored 92.9% more points than Patrese) in fact, looking at the calculation that Wikipedia made for comparing points between first and second, I find it honestly really strange and I really don't understand why they'd have calculated it that way in the first place. What not many understand about Max and his greatness is in relation to his age. He is 26 years old, 53 GP wins and 3 WC and this will only increase. Schumacher and Lewis were 28-29 when they won their 25 GP win, when they were Max's age they weren't even over 15 GP wins. Max is guaranteed to be the second driver over 100 GP wins and in time overtake Lewis. I think Lewis felt quite unthreatened in terms of number of GP wins and number of WCs, but Max is speeding along quickly towards the records. Next year he will likely win his fourth and fifth world championships of this era, his number of GPs I think could be over 80 and that is too close to Lewis not to be beaten by a driver who is 6-8 from the peak of his career. We simply see the real GOAT.

And there is one more, maybe the most important one: Before his '21 first championship, Max had won the most races for a driver not winning a championship (please double check from your side too). Using the modern points system and excluding sprints (because they award fewer points), Verstappen has scored the most points per race in a single season - more than Schumacher, Vettel, Fangio, Clark or even Ascari when he won every race he entered in 1952 except for the Indy 500. Even more impressive is that he mathematically guaranteed the record when the chequered flag fell in Las Vegas.

Still helps for those folks who can't be arsed to watch all the old races sometime in the future, despite the fact those from the current era are very much stored in a way to keep them easily accessible to whoever wants to see them. He won 6 races in a row once. He finished 3rd in the championship because he had 8x DNF. By that time he had showed enough. Every team had Max high up their short list. Redbull made sure to beat the competition by doing something nobody else would think was possible: give the seat to a 17 year old. But I have never ever seen someone dominating F1 in the way Max is doing atm. Yes Schumi had 1 dominant season but this lad is doing it over and over again. 10 wins, 15 wins, 19wins in a row. And this season (2024) he will win at least 15 races again. Yes you need a good car to win races but it takes a driver to bring home those wins. No one has ever such dominance driving a winning car. Not Senna, nor Schumi, or even Jim Clark or Fangio, Vettel or Hamilton have ever been so dominant driving a good or great car. This lad doesn't need 6, 7 or 8 world titles to prove to be the most consistent and fastest ever.

It's both a shame and simply the truth that these statistics don't mean as much considering we have more races than ever but at the same time Max actually did have a season that is comparable to Schumachers best seasons and he deserves every bit of it. Because not too many years ago we were saying that a lot of these records seemed impossible to beat. And yet here is Max Verstappen beating a lot of the difficult ones. I.e. win percentages with more races to go from. 75% over 8 races is really sort of a troll statistic. 86% over 22 races is so much more impressive. Reliability certainly plays a huge part in this but we have had quite a few decades where this is mostly the case anyway while it's also still perfectly possible to have reliability issues especially considering the complicated software they use for the engines now.

IF monza wasnt canceled due to the rains and floods , the numbers would even been more stagering . As people tend to forget this was suposed to be a 23 race season .

As its a team sport I think there are probably records that the team, and in particular, Adrian Newey, are pulling off in the background too. Christain Horner for most successful team principal? Most patient race engineer - Gianpiero Lambiase,. Was it McLaren who had the fastest pitstop in 2023? - Next years target, people.

If they signed Max up as a single driver team, and we divide Perez his points between Mercedes and Ferrari, Max would still win the constructors championship on his own before Abu Dhabi even started. Now that's what I call dominating a season.

RedBull's and AlphaTauri's plan for 2024: RB will keep Checo Perez, alongside Danny Ricciardo, with Yuki Tsunoda as reserve driver. AT is rebranding to Sui MaxMaxSuperMax Racing Honda MMSMPT, with their lineup being Max Verstappen, and Liam Lawson as reserve driver (who, for your interest, will only drive if Max gets hit by a meteorite or something...)

I hope Max see's this. I know he wont care a lot about records, he loves to break them. But for the Dutch he got a whole country behind him since he started 2016. Not a officel record, but most people watching F1 since ever.

I think he broke the record for most laps led in a row too. I’m not certain but I remember them saying he had led for over 200 laps strait sometime during his 10 win streak.

almost! he's 3rd on the all-time list with 248 laps lead consecutively. Senna has 264 and Ascari has 305.

2:13 One important detail I think is missing here is that Schumi did that in a 17 race season compared to Max's 22. In 2002 Ferrari's dominance in the early 2000s peaked, and they made the entire rest of the grid look like toddlers in push cars. Well tbh, it wasn't Ferrari, it was Todd, Brawn, Byrne and of course The Michael. I'd personally count it as 6 for Max, btw.

That’s a good point, the season was quite a bit shorter. Ferrari were just a completely different animal back then

I still don’t understand why people seem to hate verstappens dominance more than they did, Hamilton, Vettel and Schumachers dominance, mabye because we seem to read the hate more on RU-vid, facebook, and other media, mabye Sky Sports hating max and red bull gives fans the green light to do the same thing

I feel like its mainly that you see the hate more now that F1 is more involved in social media
