1 Beggars Banquet . 2 Let it bleed . 3 Sticky Fingers .Then the group including ; Their Satanic Majesty request . Between the Button.. Aftermath . Rolling Stone Now . Bu not much after Sticky Fingers .
This is the best stones list I’ve seen, you get straight to the point. All the other videos on this topic are drawn out and feature a lot of waffling, but this video is awesome! Also, aftermath was 1966
Ranking all the ones I’ve heard so far: 1 Beggar’s Banquet 2 Aftermath UK 3 Between The Buttons UK 4 Goats Head Soup 5 Let It Bleed 6 Their Majesties Satanic Request 7 Exile On Main St. 8 The Rolling Stones No. 2 9 Sticky Fingers 10 The Rolling Stones Now! 11 The Rolling Stones 12 Out Of Our Heads UK 13 Out Of Our Heads US (they are different enough) 14 December’s Children 15 12 X 5 16 It’s Only Rock ‘N Roll
A bold pick for #1, but that is what makes your channel great! You will go with what you think is honest, and not worry about what is the popular opinion. Another killer list! 👍
1. Sticky Fingers 2. Goats Head Soup 3. Some Girls 4. Let it Bleed 5. Beggar's Banquet 6. Exile on Main St. 7. Tattoo You 8. Aftermath 9. It’s Only Rock n Roll 10. Between the Buttons Those are the ones i prefer. Thru and Thru from Voodoo Lounge is fantastic! It was featured in an episode of The Sopranos. Cheers, Johnny Z! 🍻
Great video, and as always, well said. I haven't heard the new one yet, but looking forward to sitting down with it this week! I'll have to disagree with ya on "Undercover" tho. That album kicks ass! My top 5, for the record... 5. Satanic Majesties 4. Undercover 3. Exile 2. It's Only Rock n Roll 1. Sticky Fingers
Now this is a ranking I've been waiting for, great to see your rankings! Here is my preferences : 1. Let It Bleed 2. Sticky Fingers 3. Exile On Main Street 4. Beggars Banquet 5. Goats Head Soup 6. @@TheCDGuyJZ Satanic Majesties gets lots of flack but it's always been in my top 10 of theirs, glad to see you like that one so much. The Lantern and 2000 Light Years From Home always make my Halloween playlist.
Good ranking, my top 5 would be; Sticky Fingers Exile on… Beggars Banquet Let it Bleed Some Girls My bottom 5; 26- Dirty Work 25- Steel Wheels 24- Undercover 23- Bigger Bang 22- Their Satanic Majesties…
Great list! I'm a big fan of Satanic Majesties also. If I may ask, what CD issue of Majesties is that you have? Design slightly different to 2002 Abcko issue. Does it have a good booklet?
best stones ranking i have seen. i must admit, i am not very familiar with anything post 1983...other than a couple of minutes of psychedelic racket, TSMR is a flawless album!
Glad you like the Stones....and glad you like HMSR for #1. Lots of people would put that one dead last. I think it's an important album cause it separates their old sound from the new. Then comes 5 straight awesome albums that are hard to rank cause they are all so good.
I quite like the album. I think many have come around to embracing it. She’s a Rainbow is just a shimmery joy. I listen to it more than other albums save for Beggar’s Banquet.
Here are my tiers for the Stones: A+ tier: Exile, Sticky Fingers, Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Some Girls, Tattoo You, Hackney Diamonds A tier: Between the Buttons, Aftermath, It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll, Goat Heads Soup A- tier: Black and Blue, Out of Our Heads, Blue and Lonesome, The Rolling Stones, A Bigger Bang B+ tier: Voodoo Lounge, Bridges to Babylon B tier: Their Satanic Majesties Request, Steel Wheels, Emotional Rescue, Undercover, Now!, 12x5 B- tier: December’s Children (And Everybody’s) C+ tier: Dirty Work
Good to hear your thoughts on the albums Johnny. Anything form your top 8 could really be number one as they have so may top quality albums particularly from that late 60s to early 80s period. Hackney Diamonds is a very good album and not a bad way to finish should it be their last album.
This was hard to rank the classic stuff for sure. Hackney Diamonds would be a great final album. I think I heard that they already have some more songs written though, which is pretty exciting.
For sure! Really hard list especially when it came to the top 6 or 7. Frustrating because I had just shown my Let It Bleed vinyl on the channel a few weeks ago lol
When I was a kid in grade school in the 60's The Rolling Stones became my favorite Rock N' Roll band to the point my friends in High School called me Rolling Stones Frank, LOL! And I still love em. I saw them @ MSG 75, Keith in 88 on his birthday with the Winos & Steel Wheels in Shea. Crappy Diamonds is the worst thing they ever released. The Stones last gasp was Steel Wheels. Jagger's vocals sound like an old bad lady and what's left of this great band sound as old as they look !! FYI, every studio release from 1976 - 88 came from the Black & Blue sessions.
Really cool that you got to experience these classic releases as a kid in real time! I have family who were at that Shea show in 1988… Steel Wheels was an awesome tour. Sorry you can’t get into the new album… hopefully it grows on you. 👍
@@jbstonesfan I grew up with The Rolling Stone. Mick Jagger Sounds Old. Crappy Diamonds is the most forgettable thing the Glimmer Twins ever put out, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MSSxnv1_J2g.html
Cool list, man. Ill admit, you shocked me with your no.1 pick! I didnt care for their journey into psychedelia, personally, but i understand why people do.
Thanks! I was expecting people to be caught off guard by my #1. I love Their Satanic Majesties, but also understand why a lot of people don’t like that album.
Honestly, I think Between the Buttons [UK] is one of their crowning achievements as it blends the Stonesy sound with Baroque pop, satire, and some overt inklings of psychedelia that started foreshadowing on Aftermath. It's a much more complete and focused record than Their Satanic. And Frank Zappa called it one of his favorite albums of all time, even proclaiming it better than Sgt. Pepper.
Noooo...what are you doing!?! SMR as no. 1.... Heh, heh; we’ve got different tastes. In my opinion The Stones took a wrong turn trying to be psychedelic. It went quite good when you could hear the inspirations from psychedelia, but when they went all in... Off cause you can’t turn down great tracks as She’s a Rainbow or 2000 Light Years from Home, but I don’t care much for the rest of the album. The Beatles managed that transformation much better. Otherwise, I agree with you on a lot of the listing. Might have put this album a bit higher or that one a bit lower, but that’s nitpicking.
Exile has the best songs although it's bloated and should not be a double. Sentimental favourites are Tattoo You and Emotional Rescue because they were in my teenage years and I loved them at the time.
Your nr 1 is surprising but I understand. TSMR is not my favourite album but it’s in my top 10. I believe I am one of the rare Rolling Stones fan who thinks that Exile is much overrated and very boring, except for the wonderful Tumbling dice and Happy. My top 10: 1. Let it bleed 2. Sticky fingers 3. Beggars Banquet 4. Some girls 5. Tattoo you 6. Goats head soup 7. Hackney diamonds 8. Their satanic majesties r. 9. Out of our heads 10. Aftermath
@@TheCDGuyJZit’s hard to choose well there all amazing albums to me there better then anyone some albums are better then others I’d go with AfterMath Goats Head Soup Let it Bleed Beggars Banquet some girls Sticky Fingers Exile Between The Buttons don’t care for hackney diamonds to me it was the worst stones album ever made
