What stood out for the Snow Ghost for me is his brutality. He’s not trying to scare them off, he’s trying to KILL the gang. And by cutting them with a buzzsaw, blowing them up with dynamite, crushing them with a barrel, and even dropping them off a cliff.

The Ape Man is my favorite villain to watch get absolutely wrecked by our favorite doggy companion. Especially considering Scooby Doo’s reputation for being such a scaredy cat, or dog in this case. Not to mention, how he was easily defeated by Shaggy easily taking a photo of him. You know you’re not cut out for being intimidating when the world’s greatest coward doesn’t hesitate to wreck you up like a true badass. Ape Man was doomed to fail the moment Scooby Doo resisted running away with fear from him and instead chose fight..😂

As a retired teacher, a pastor, and the grandfather of a little girl who loves Scooby Doo, I love your attention to detail, though I disagree with some of your rankings. I would have had the Wax Phantom at 25, Redbeard at 24, not sure about the middle... and probably the Ghost Clown at #1 with The Spooky Space Kook, the Phantom ShadowS, and the HAWAIIAN Witch Doctor somewhere in the top five. But, hey, we all have our own backgrounds and opinions, don't we? I really enjoyed your review. You and I have made a LOT of similar observations. Take care.

My favorite part of the Elias Kingston episode, was the look Uncle Stuart gives at the end when his niece asks him why he did what he did. Captain Cutler has to be my favourite, basing a ghost off an old diving suit from the 1800's was unique and the seaweed that gave the creepy glow is an awesome touch. Almost 40 years later this design was used for another vilian the Cyclops of the first Spongebob movie making Cutler tame compared to it. I mean killing sea creatures for decoration?! I grew up watching Scooby doo and Spongebob but didn't make the connection until years later.

While I kinda personally prefer Captain Cutler’s Ghost I still have to agree with you on everything else. I mean, given that he grew to such a MASSIVE size in Monsters Unleashed and on top of him having his own personal harpoon, I’d say that he’s just as much a threat to people as he is to the fish in the sea.

I very much was expecting Captain Cutler to be #1 That spooky eerie diver suit stuck with just about every Scooby-Doo fan. The big heavy scuba suit gave Cutler this bulky, imposing muscular monster vibe. The way he's animated, with his large arms hoisted upwards as he marches at the Gang is just an iconic Scooby-Doo scene. Having no face, just a static diving helmet gives this true discomforting mystery behind him.

Scooby Doo was unintentionally a very important cartoon, when it comes to children's development. For those able to see it, the cartoon taught you to not fall for superstition and claims that magic is real, what a grift is and that those running them are every day people and to not fall for their bullshit. This can be applied to so so many aspects of life and truly does help kids cut through a lot of the bullshit even adults are trying to convince them of and to think for themselves, but most importantly, think critically and always investigate (don't just take what you're being told at face value). Invaluable lessons and Scooby Doo has it all.

Pretty accurate assessment; though for the creeper I’d add his voice is a big part of his legend; him yelling his name at the top of his lungs is iconic. I just noticed that the ebeneezer shark guy in the cap cutler episode’s diving suit is the same one as the skeleton in the ship underwater; given we don’t see the character after his exposition scene is it possible he’s a real ghost/related to the literal skeleton in the graveyard of ships? That would be a very disturbing spin off for a supernatural type episode somewhere else addressing it.

@Master-Fawful958
@Master-Fawful958 2 года назад
I know, that’ scene was so great! And in some, it’s arguably the closest a villain ever got killing Scooby. NO JOKE, he literally almost got STABBED IN THE THROAT! Go back, watch the movie, and try to tell Scooby didn’t have a near death experience. And the Tar Monster came pretty close to offing the rest of the gang too, even if I’m not really a fan of the guy. I just think it was cool concept but poorly executed, I mean he’s just a walking black blob with green eye. He was a kinda stressful enemy in Night of 100 Frights and a bit too creepy in Monsters Unleashed. That’s why I never liked him, and it’s not like CyberChase added anything new, in fact his brown textures in the movie made him look more like he was made of mud then actual tar. But that aside, I agree that was a great scene in Monsters Unleashed, if not my favorite scene.

Also, regarding The Black Knight: The Professor's Spectacle's were also what he was trying to relay to whoever would come looking for him because that's what gave Mr. Wickles away. One thing I love about the Puppetmaster episode is that the gang had absolutely no reason to get involved other than being narcs. Like, Shaggy finds the violin case full of money, then the mysterious black car it fell out of comes back and takes the violin case from Scooby. That should be the point when you walk away and just be thankful not to have been murdered by the mob who’s money you just nearly stole.

They always left me feeling like something with me when I watched them. I also like the review for the Puppet Master. He was also terrifying, but I feel like something else that was unique about him that wasn't mentioned or given credit to would be his laugh. I don't know about anyone else, but his laugh was pretty creepy and gave to his creep factor. You said something about when we first encounter his full face and color being creepy in the theater, but what came after first seeing him was that laugh that you wouldn't be able to forget. I also want to give credit that out of all 25 villains he was the only one that could make Velma not like looking for clues anymore and I think that deserves some brownie points. She's possibly one of the few antagonists who got away with it, despite those "meddling kids and their dog." Anyway, Charlie is possibly the gang's friendliest enemy, since he wasn't aware of the damage he was causing. Plus, he's one of the best robots, animated or otherwise, of all time. He kinda reminds me of C-3PO from Star Wars. 31:47 27.The Headless Specter If he really has a head, how could he see past his ascot to chase the gang and everything? Also, it's interesting to think he's a villain with completely good intentions, unlike everybody else. 9:34 26. The Miner 49ner Out of all the villains who are actually evil, he's the crappiest. Because, he's not really all that threatening, and he's not scary in the least. He, along with Redbeard and the Caveman, are the only three villains who actually look human. He's not a ghostly villain, just a creepy old man. 18:51 25. The Phantom He truly is a stereotypical bedsheet ghost. Plus, he's also just a chaser. All he does is threaten the gang and chase them, without trying to put too much effort into being a menacing villain. 21:21 24. The Spooky Space Kook He's almost like the undead version of Buzz Lightyear with his spacesuit. And you're right. Why couldn't he animated in more positions and angles? 29:04 23. Captain Cutler He's similar to the Space Kook, they both glow and they mostly chase. However, he is the first villain to trap members of the Scooby gang, by locking Daphne, Fred and Velma in the ship's cabin. So, he's more than a chaser like the other two mentioned above. 6:07 22. The Indian Witch Doctor I agree with you. I prefer the Tiki Witch Doctor over this guy. This guy wasn't as great. His first scene certainly does straight-up reveal that he's a phony. But then, he still tries to be scary. It's like, forget it, man. We're not buying it. 20:05 21. The Tiki Witch Doctor He's truly more of a nuisance than an outright villain. After all, he just runs around yelling and chasing the gang, and his robot, Mano Tiki Tia, is more of a threat than him. If the robot wasn't there, the gang could easily have caught him, since he's not much of a threat. 32:38 20. The Phony Phantom He's the crappiest villain in the entire franchise. He's not on screen in costume for very long, he's easily caught and captured, and his costume is nothing more than a sheet. Really? 10:19 19. The Ghost of Elias Kingston He's very similar to the greedy butler Edgar from Disney's The Aristocats. After all, like Edgar, he was impatient to get his hands on the fortune, and he was willing to get the competition out of the way, as it were. And he is possibly the only Scooby-Doo villain to ever show remorse for his actions. 16:40 18. The Zombie He's possibly the dumbest villain on the list. He easily fell for Shag and Scoob's tricks and he wasn't all that aggressive. Just a stereotypical idiot henchman. 7:20 17. The Caveman He's an interesting villain in that, rather than deal with a supernatural foe, they're squaring off against a prehistoric, unevolved human being. Not a complete monster, just a stone-age human. 16:19 16. The Witch She's like the Scooby-Doo equivalent of the Wicked Witch of the West, with the way she talks, cackles, uses her magic to appear and disappear and the way she refers to Daphne as "my pretty." 3:45 15. The Scare Pair You're right. They are better than their boss. And they're definitely two of the most dangerous villains, considering they chase the gang in a car, rather than on foot, like everybody else. The fact that they can drive make them a genuine threat. 8:22 14. The Wax Phantom Maybe it's because he's a big, green, hulking villain, but this guy reminds me very much of Oogie Boogie from Disney's The Nightmare Before Christmas. At least, unlike Oogie, there was a greedy human being inside, instead of a gross living hive of bugs, spiders and snakes. 3:25 13. Zen Tuo I agree 100%. He really is one of the most forgettable villains, but his mask does look somewhat cool. But, he really doesn't look all that ghostly, despite being a ghostly warlord, just a Chinese guy in an angry golden mask. 23:50 12. The Phantom Shadows These guys are definitely two of the more effective Scooby-Doo villains. After all, they did manage to scare off the cousins successfully. If not for Scooby and the gang, they would have succeeded in their evil plan. But, unfortunately, the only downside is they didn't realize the money the were after was useless. So, even if everything worked in their favor, they still would have failed. 13:14 11. The Ghost of Mr. Hyde In my opinion, one of the best interpretations of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, alongside the Jekyll and Hyde from Burbank Films Australia and the three My. Hydes from The Nightmare Before Christmas. And CERTAINLY less horrifying than the Pagemaster Mr. Hyde. His only downside is that he chose to hide in the Mystery Machine. If he had picked a different vehicle to hide inside, he would have continued his reign of terror and thievery. 4:29 10. The Ghostly Werewolf I also prefer the Wolfman paired with Dracula and Frankenstein over this guy. And he looks positively gross with his head bald. And I too cannot understand why he doesn't have a name. 2:00 9. The Ape Man You're right. He really is one of the crappiest villains. His costume is not supernatural, inhuman, ghostly or monster-like, his motives truly are childish, and he is stupid for taking off his mask. Plus, he's a coward and a weak villain, letting himself be outsmarted and intimidated by a mere dog. 22:52 8. The Black Knight Ghost I too don't understand why he wasn't concerned for the broken museum property. Plus, as an artist myself, I like that his scheme is art-related. 14:28 7. The Phantom Puppeteer When I saw this episode as a kid, I never knew what his villain name was until I looked it up, because it's never mentioned. While I don't find it too scary, (I've seen far worse), I think his most chilling moment is when he's playing the organ and then disappears in the dark. And, yeah, it IS disturbing to think that he can turn any human being into a lifeless puppet. It's like Pinocchio in reverse. 11:57 6. Big Bob Oakley My favorite Scooby-Doo villain is Oakley as Frankenstein, because ever since I was a kid, I've always been a Franken fan. Anyway, I too find it frustrating that the gang cannot acknowledge Dracula and Frankenstein by name and instead call them ghosts. After all, needless to say, they've all celebrated Halloween before, and they've faced off against a variety of monsters and ghosts, so you'd think that they'd be able to tell the difference between a ghost, a vampire and a Frankenstein. Furthermore, the four characters played by Oakley, ranked from the least dangerous to the most dangerous are: the Gypsy, Frankenstein, the Wolfman and Dracula. 25:09 5. The Mummy of Ankha He's only villain to try to kill not one or more of the gang, but the whole gang at once with the buzzsaw. That's truly evil. Plus, when Scooby nails his bandages to the floor, he cannot seem to move, even though he can easily tear himself away, which he does. Also, he CLEARLY does NOT like sawdust or water. It's like kryptonite to him. 30:26 4. Redbeard He's undoubtedly one of the best animated pirate villains of all time, alongside Disney's Captain Hook and Gloomius Maximus from Rolie Polie Olie. And, yeah, what's up with that sword? It couldn't possibly operate by wire that fluidly. 26:24 3. The Ghost Clown His defeat at the end truly is one of the funniest villain defeats. The fact that he uses his hypnosis skills to put the gang in dangerous situations makes him one of the most evil Scooby-Doo villains. 17:12 2. The Snow Ghost To me, this guy is like a savage, meaner albino version of Sulley from Monsters, Inc. The way the villain playing the Snow Ghost, Mr. Greenway, roars to make himself scary, it sounds like all that roaring would leave him with a hoarse throat. 33:09 1. The Creeper He's referred to as a phantom, but I think he's more of a zombie. After all, the word phantom is generally associated with ghosts, and he does NOT look ghostly in the least. The Creeper is possibly the most evil of them all, because, unlike the other villains, he hurt the bank guard and left him in the road, undoubtedly for dead. That's pretty dark. Plus, it seems as though he's going to do the very same thing to Scooby and his friends. So, given his vile-tempered and aggressive disposition, he's pretty evil for a Scooby-Doo villain. Hope you like my thoughts. And can't wait to see the ideas I threw your way on your channel soon. Thank you.

Biggest pet peeve about Scooby Doo villains is when it turns out to be somebody totally random we hadn't met before in the show, so we'd have no way of guessing and it's even a bit of a letdown/anticlimax. I think that's why the "Spooky Space Kook" and the Ghost Clown aren't ranked as high as they should be, even though they are awesome villains lol

Here’s the thing: I wouldn’t call any of these villains not great Like sure they can be bland But, simplicity can be something very great that is overlooked too often. Just because they aren’t flashy or super interesting, why does that make them bad?

The problem with zen tuo trying to kill shaggy and Scooby with the fireworks is the fact that it would draw attention to their hideout since the Chinese New Year parade was over so it would be weird for fireworks to be going off. I do agree that he was much better than both the warewolf and the Indian witch doctor. Partially because zen tuo has aged a bit better than buck masters.
