Definitely agree with your list. They should've kept the gothic sci-fi angle that season 2 had going. And can we talk about Dr. Strange?! The actor killed it!

Victor Zsasz was definitely my favourite part of Gotham, Anthony Carrigan nailed the role.

Basically anything with Jeremiah/Jerome, Riddler and Penguin, all the villains lol. Season 1 is definitely underrated and I agree about Falcone.

Gotham season 4 is almost perfect.

Just going to say it riddler/Edward was the most entertaining character in the series

4:26 I've seen Season 1 described as the show's Long Halloween because it's the start of gangsters like Falcone, Maroni, Fish and the like being overthrown by the future supervillains like Penguin, Jerome, Riddler and all of them. And Season 2 is the completion of that.

Mine goes 4 - Solid all around, I can watch Jerome/Jeremiah's twist over and over. 2 - The characters and the show found their footing and it's just *chef kiss* mwuah 1 - Very comfortable watching experience imo 5 - Fun, but all the fun happens at the very end and back when they were doing weekly releases, that month long period before the last 2 episodes was ridiculous. 3 - I'm sorry, but hearing "Tetch virus" and "I love Mario" over and over is brutal to watch for me.

I feel like if they had the rights to the joker character in the first place, Jerome would've never killed the show

My personal ranking is: S4 > S3 > S2 > S1 > S5 I just like the Mad Hatter, y’all.

For me personally, I love gotham season 1, not that sci-fi but the gothic crime family type is so freaking cool. I can feel the tension building up between falcone and Maroni crime family. Love it.

Just finished the show and I thought every season was phonomenal

I remember how amazing Season 2 was. The biggest change ever and for the best. 1. Season 2. 2. Season 1 3. Season 4 4. Season 3 5. Season 5 It’s the hardest show to rank, each season has a lot of elements to either hate or absolutely love.

Before I watch, I’m going to speculate: #1 - Season 2, #2 - Season 4, #3 - Season 3, #4 - Season 1, then #5 - Season 5 (I initially switched 3 & 1 because I agreed with his ranking, but I switched them back)

Season 4: Ends with No Man's Land. Me: Expecting to see all the previous main villains with their gangs in a Purge sort of way. Season 5: A complete disappointment.

Gotham is my second favorite superhero TV show because it makes Gotham seem like hell on earth where the residents can’t catch a break from the madness of its criminals

The thing is I think the one thing that Gotham does better than other shows (among other things but this is the best thing) is that it all blends in together into one narrative yes it has a beginning middle and end of every season but it doesn't feel as forced as arrow or flash and other shows even though I do love them.

Mad Hatter always terrified me, I never knew how they would beat him.

season 2 was so good with the whole thing with penguin and theo galavan who imo has the best death in any show, his second one but his first death was pretty satisfying to watch as well

I feel like I'm the only one despised Jeremiah Valeska's Joker. Jerome's was way more true to the character and entertaining in my opinion.

They really had to rush out Season 5, man I wish that it was on a different network so that we could have a longer drawn out season with more room to introduce Batman in the end.

Season 4 hit all the great notes story and approach wise while Seasons 3 didn’t really have the same feel, so much stuff going on it was mad, “mad city”.

I think season 4 for me is the best season. I loved all the villains coming together and being re-introduced or getting a bigger role (Scarecrow, Jerome, etc). Loved the Oswald and Martin storyline, tho I wished Martyn had remained in Gotham at Oswald's side as that heir. The season also had some of my fav Oswald and Ed moments, but I really, REALLY despised the Ed and Lee relationship. Did not get that at all... Season 5 would've been my fav I think, if it was longer, but you know... the show was forced to come to an end, so smushing lots of stuff in there did harm it. Season 2 was very good with Ed finding himself as a villain. Some wonderful moments there!

My first ranking considering I finished the show literally a few hours ago: S2 > S4 > S3 = S1 > S5 1. S2: Every character really found their footing and started showing their potential. Theo Galavan and Hugo Strange were fantastic and seeing Gotham slowly becoming a place full of supervillains is just unbeatable. In the premiere, Bruce finding his dad's letter in the batcave is still the only moment in the entire show which made me cry. 2. S4: Very consistent season. They managed to make Pyg interesting, Sofia was as awful as they wanted her to be, Bruce's emo crisis wasn't as boring as expected. Very unpopular opinion but I never clicked with Jerome. He acted too much like a sadistic kid in need of attention to feel threatening. Meanwhile Jeremiah led to my favourite finale. 3a. S3: The Penguin/Riddler relationship is one of the best parts of the show and really came to be during this season. This, Tetch's introduction and the Commissioner going insane led to a fantastic first half. However, they dragged on the Lee/Gordon issues and the virus theme for way too long. And I really, really disliked the brainwashed Bruce storyline. 3b. S1: Gotham had a pretty slow start. We get it, Bruce is sad, Gotham is corrupted and Gordon wants to fix it. However, the second half of the season got me completely hooked: the introduction of Scarecrow and Jerome, Selina and Bruce's development, Barbara's insanity awakening. Even the gang war had a really great ending. Definitely disagree with people saying they can skip this season. 4. S5: I liked this season quite a lot, it just didn't have a lot of memorable moments. You can feel they were rushed into writing. The finale wasn't as bad as I expected, though I wish Bruce hadn't made it *that* clear that he's Batman. --> My favourite episode is "The Gentle Art of Making Enemies".

I almost completely agree with your list except I'd flip flop seasons 4 and 2. And admittedly that's probably mostly because of how much more Valeska we get in 4 over 2.

Was anybody else iffy about Jerome at first? Idk why but I didn’t think he was a good fit the first couple of appearances but he managed to blow me away!

Great ranking. Surprised you put Season 5 last. To me, that's the best season because it wrapped things up nicely.

4 5 1 3 2 For me, every episode of season five was good, especially the exposure Jeremiah got, but the shambles that is the nothing finale drops it down a place for me. The second half of season 2 SUCKED.

The jump in quality from season 1 to the later seasons was massive for me and I think it’s because the villains came into their own much more. Season 4 was great cause I loved the actor who played Ra’s Al Ghul. Then the Jerome, Scarecrow and Mad Hatter storyline was great and while Jeremiah was kind of weaker than Jerome he was still entertaining to watch and also the Professor Pyg storyline was fantastic. I liked season 5 too although it was cut way too short. Season 1 was necessary to introduce Gotham and you gotta see Mob Controlled Gotham before all the crazy people start popping up. I just got a little bored with Maroni and Falcone and Fish. However my favorite part of that season was Penguin and the beginning of Bullock and Gordon’s friendship.

I think the whole fakeout thing with the Joker was because people would feel left out if they didn’t get their version of the Joker. Like there’s the crazy psychotic Joker and the cold calculated Joker and they wanted to do both for the audience

Gotham is the 2nd best TV show I have seen ( first is Game of Thrones ). That scene in season 4 when Jeremiah with his followers were standing outside the GCPD station and was threatning to blow up buildings was one of my favourite scenes . That scene in season 5 when Gordon and the GCPD was standing on the barrier with Bane on the opposite side and Bane was saying , " Captain Gordon , I always knew you had a savior complex but this is too much . " Gordon - " What happened to you Eduardo ? There was a time you would have be up those barricades with me" You said Talia in your video . It was Nyssa right ?

Season 5 is my favorite by far, also I only just finished rewatching Gotham and I have changed my opinion about the finale, at first I didn't like it but after a rewatch I think it's great. One of my favorite episodes

Hooray, another Gotham video. I'd rate seasons 1, 2, 4 and 5 equal, with 3 just below them. Each season had it's own unique feel and storylines.

Actually Jerome arc was sort of midseason finale to first half of season 3 I remember then we didn't get rest till late April/may release date

3:13 Yeah the Mad Hatter storyline and the Jerome episodes were good. But the Court of Owls stuff and the Jim, Leslie and Mario romantic drama sucked. And Barnes was more menacing as The Executioner before he got the stupid costume and the eye makeup.

For me, based on memory alone, my ranking is as follows: 5. Season 4: This season really frustrated me, this is mainly due to the Valeska plot as (like you) Jerome Valeska was my preferred version of the Joker. I liked Professor Pyg, though the reveal is kind of disappointing and I was annoyed with Riddler being set back to ground zero. 4. Season 5: this is only above season 4 out of pity as it was given the unfortunate spot of final season and had to wrap up story arcs that only had one season prior to develop (I’m looking at you, Jeremiah) and the finale was not necessary. I would have preferred it the episode prior was the finale as I didn’t need to see Batman, Catwoman, Riddler, Penguin, Joker and others fully formed. Gotham was about how they got there, that’s all I needed. 3. Season 1: I have not seen this season in a while, so I don’t want to fully judge it but I would take it over spots 5 and 4. 2. Season 2: Pushed the series in a direction I preferred, Jerome was a lot of fun and I loved the journey for the Penguin. 1. Season 3: This should have been the final season in my eyes, it brings the characters full circle, it has my favourite version of Barbara Kean, I love the final fight between Bruce and Jerome, and I personally enjoyed the Tetch virus when I first watched it. I need to rewatch all of Gotham, so I apologise if my thoughts are not quite well laid out as I’m working from memory.

My ranking is pretty much like yours. The only difference is that for me Season 4 is the best season (and my most favourite season of any TV show), while Season 2 is a pretty close second.

Season 1 and 4, theyre the peak of the show imo. I loved this show but season 2 was my LEAST fave season, idk why am I insane??

Season 1 is objectively good. I have no interest in watching it for now but it is many peoples' favorite season and only season they like. I prefer Jerome and Jeremiah

My personal Ranking for the show is #1 season 3 for Mad Hatter, The Executioner and the best Riddler episodes #2 season 1 for the overall crimeshow vibe with interesting origins even if Barabra Keen is a little much for me #3 season 2 for great stand alone episodes like Firefly and Mr. Freeze despite plotlines that felt either overbearing in the case of Theo Galavan or undercooked with Nygma's first Riddler arc being wholly unnecessary. Dr. Strange is pretty great, though its a shame we didn't get to see a lot of the aftermath #4 season 5 I actually really enjoyed a lot of the filler here because I always like long awaited character development for preestablished characters and I actually wish they had devoted one more episode to Victor Zaaz because he never really got the point of being recognizable. #5 season 4 the Professor Pyg fakeout really pisses me off to high heaven. it takes so much away from his incredible accomplishments throughout the season and felt wholly unnecessary. Raj is decent in the first half, but just grinds my gears when he causes an abrupt ending to what was otherwise an interesting development for Barabra Keene's character

Barbara Kean was overall the biggest waste of acting. The actress was brilliant, but the writers, showrunner, whoever just didn't know what to do with her.

My favourite will always be season 1. I didn’t really like the tonal shift between season 1 and 2, the last 4 seasons feel like a completely different show. When it was first advertised it was promoting a dark and gritty crime show in the Batman universe and that’s what I expected, and that’s what was delivered. Then I got used to the feel of the show over the course of the first season. I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy the rest of the seasons, I loved the whole show from start to end. But it did become extremely campy and ended up feeling pretty silly. Jerome was what really kept me watching and without him I wouldn’t have enjoyed the rest of the show. I feel like if the show had the zany, cooky tone from the beginning I would’ve enjoyed it much more. But the first season feels very seperate from the rest of the show and I preferred the darker tone.

Never really liked season 2 of Gotham because I found the plot of Theo Galavan to be too overcentralizing. Sure he's a decent threat, but he takes up so much of the runtime that we got very few episodes for other characters to be introduced even if we did get Firefly and Mr. Freeze in standout moments in this season. The second half is a lot better, but it still has my least favorite Riddler Arc that feels entirely unnecessary and very foolish for the character to wildly point fingers at Gordon when Gordon has no way of knowing what he did. I really enjoyed Season 3 a lot more because I liked how interconnected the two halves were through the Tetch Virus and both Mad Hatter and The Executioner are some of my favorite villains. Especially the Executioner with how much buildup and character development we got for him in previous seasons. Jerome gets a decent arc and Riddler gets the two best episodes of the season really showing how the Riddler would work even if he tells you what he's gonna do

I'd rank S2 as second to last, personally. The entire Galavan arc just...god did I not care. Totally boring. He utterly killed the momentum the first few episodes had going.

Honestly my list would go more like this 5 - season 1 4 - season 5 3 - season 3 2 - season 4 1 - season 2 Season 2 is my favorite season of all time I think it's just because of jerome and the riddler and penguin. Also the stand alone mr freeze episode is amazing and if that was the character's end I might've shed a tear.

Dang I miss this show

I watched the first 4 seasons and the first half of season 5 in 3 weeks but the second half of season 5 was really bad, i just couldnt bring myself to watch it.I really really agree with almost everything u said, but i would just have switched the first place with season 4 and the second place season 2
