The stuff that's just thematically similar, fine. I mean, I'm not going to get on them for making a sword character look like a sword character, or having a turtle doing a spin move which is basically what every single fiction turtle does, or having moves that vaguely resemble something that exists like that green avatar girl's platform trick. But some of these moves look like straight-up cribs, down even to the animation sequences. And that's a big no bueno.
there doesn’t even need to be an animation comparison, baseline smash just looks better than nick. i knew the second i heard about this game it was gonna be a “copy” or an attempted remake of smash just not as pretty🤣
most of the smash character moves are designed to look like the moves from their original games, they could’ve done more to make the nick character’s moves look more like their original shows/movies.
@@tinyriss And they did, also the shine and rest are homages to smash since they are a big fans of the series, and speaking of powdered toast man... The dude is a meme character, he can wave toast and his nair is randomized I'm not kidding. Also some examples of this video were reeeeeally sterched like, reptar flames work completely different from Ridley's and their up smash have completely different animations, and then there's the Toph=Steve thing because of the platform: news flash, Steve wasn't the first to introduce platform making in a smash type game, that was thragg and he released way before Steve did in smash so if anything, Steve and Toph copied thragg.
@@CaptainClark23 Smash didn't invent sword swinging, belly flopping, drop kicking, swinging a baseball bat, kicking, punching, teleporting, or fire breath. Quite a few of these are taken from the shows instead of smash, anyways. There's moves borrowed from Smash, yes, but equally and moreso the original shows.
Apart from the similarities, smash really looks waay better in term of character animations and stage details. While all of those movements in smash looks realistic, the hits actually HIT, i mean when a strong hit land (like marth tipper or krool smashes) we actually can feel it through sounds and visual effect, but in this nickelodeon game, all those hits sounds lame and looks weak/strange. (sorry if my english aren't good enough)
Actually for Patrick’s rolling attack it’s backwards since that’s a move he did in the SpongeBob Movie game which was in 2004 while diddy didn’t do that move until 2008
Well it's supposed to be that, but just wait for a bunch of 40 yrs old sweaties take the game into toxic matches absolutely grounding 10 yrs old kiddos
It still pisses me off that April O'Neil got in and not The Shredder. Also, Danny Phantom and Aang had grave injustices against them with their move sets. Toph was done justice though.
And if you actually watches those shows you would realise that EVERY single move was referenced and can be traced back from the actual show, aside from characters like Nigel that didn't fight so they had to invent the movement from scratch
@@takuso1229 Ultimate isn’t, it’s only revived everytime DLC is dropped. Then it survives for 2 more months then people bail on it. Almost every “Smash” player I know does this. The only fun I have is playing mod overhauls on Ultimate that changes the physics and move sets. that’s about it, game is boring as hell otherwise.
I feel like Reptar's Up Smash is more similar to Yoshi's seeing as it's a backflip rather than a front flip. Danny Phantom's Up Special also reminds me quite a bit of Zelda's, primarily because of the coloration of the particle effects and speed of the move
Spongebob: Snake and Mega Man Patrick: Bowser, K. Rool, and Diddy Kong Toph: Steve Korra: Ganondorf Lincoln: Ness and ROB Leonardo: Marth Michelangelo: Joker, Bowser, and Peach Ren and Stimpy: Banjo-Kazooie Powdered Toast Man: Falco Zim: Bowser Jr. Reptar: Ridley and Yoshi Nigel Thornberry: Jigglypuff Danny Phantom: Mewtwo and the Ray Gun
Reminds me of ARMS. When it launched the demo everyone was excited for it, issues with matchmaking aside most notable Smashers backed it, then when it released and it ended up sitting on shelves. Sora's announcement practically eclipsed the game's release. For the most part, people are only playing it now to wait for Sora.
In terms of animations, remember that both games have a lot of animations per character and both games have a lot of characters. Don’t damn All Star Brawl for being poorly animated, praise Smash for being well animated.
Smash has 85 characters and 20 years of history. Nick was EXPLICITLY inspired by its most technical side, so it is no surprise that a few moves look pretty much the same. But considering how many moves and variations there are in smash history, they came up with surprisingly original ideas overall
I’m a Nintendo girl but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. All the game needs is voice acting and you’d have a good game. It’s a nice touch on NAB’s part that whenever there’s a knockout, the announcer comments on it.
Most of the Nick animations were so quick I was surprised you could tell what they were similar to in smash. This video just ended up showing me that the game's animations could definitely benefit from pacing instead of being extremely lightning fast
YEET Smash: "This video is just for fun; no hate towards either game." The commenters, looking to bash anything moderately similar to Smash instead of giving it a chance and appreciating NASB as its own thing: "I'mma pretend I didn't see that."
I just saying this, why does Nickelodeon characters have so many fast moves and than you moves that just look so slow like that teleport or toph earth bending the ground?
Some animation in Nick are really… « « « cringe » » » for me, but my biggest issue with all these animations is Why the fuck Danny Fantom floats when he’s standing but when you move he fucking walks That piss me off so much that’s make 0 sense and it´s just so odd to see
@@thedukeconiosantiago9180 it was really hard to find information on that. Apparently ssb4 had 120 devolpers, so I would think it would be more then that.
Toph loosely resembles Kragg from Rivals of Aether, having platforms that give them temporary ground (Kragg uses a pillar), and they can't be reused until they land on real ground whereas Steve's blocks go on for as long as he's got materials. Toph also roughly has Kragg's down special as her forward strong. I'd like to see move comparisons with those two games. Several other Smash parallels were missed from the first minute, like Spongebob's bubble is Luigi's fireball which is Ryu's Haduken (any straight moving projectile actually), and Patrick having an up special similar to Fox. Also, every character has DK's Kong Karry grab where they can walk around and potentially chuck the opponent into death.
Ehh, I feel like Patrick UpB is more unique than that. Sure, you choose a direction and fly there, but it's much more limited in direction and Patrick doesn't have a charging hitbox, let alone it being a command grab
Might be an unpopular opinion but I really can't bother to get outraged over this. There's only so many ways you can throw a punch or do a belly flop. Gonna copyright a bellyflop? I mean look at fucking Smash itself, with all its clones and semiclones and 3 Links. You could push this further with Joker and Hero having Falco's f smash and Link's dash attack respectively. Not even Smash is original within Smash by this logic. Steve and Toph and Kragg from Rivals all do that ground summoning move. Steve did not invent that idea. In fact, it probably existed before Kragg too. It's just a cool idea.
@@Brandon_4272 Okay I don't like this game but I will defend it on this. The game just came out so of course, it doesn't have a competitive sense although I highly doubt it will gain one due to the fact that it will probably just disappear, and if doesn't it will when Sora comes out.
@@AshenDemon I absolutely agree. I think it's WAY more fun to play than smash. This is one of the very few games where I prefer free for all than 1v1, but I think smash is just more IQ heavy and way more competitive and consistent
Some of these are just attacks that are fated to look similar like turtle characters using their shell to attack or fat characters using their belly but to me it really shows how, empty or unpolyshed the nickelodeon one is, i mean compare this to melee or smash 64, the animations, the effects, the weight of the hits, knockback, the moveset, etc. It shows that the nickelodeon one really wanted to make something good but they didnt have the talemt sakurai did with less than a year of development.
Everyone is really sleeping on this game. It plays almost like melee, plus it's a nostalgia fever dream. I'm getting paid Friday and instantly buying it. If it keeps getting the support from the pro scene, then it's guarantee to bring more updates with more character roster, smoother animation, and even at some point voice acting.
@@MasterTredz The year of the character's creation is irrelevant. K Rool's belly gimmick was introduced in Smash Ultimate (2018). Patrick had a belly attack starting in BFBB (2003).
This might be a warning because if super-smash-bros-ultimate finds out about Nickelodeon All-Star brawl copying Super Smash Bros ultimate characters move-sets but if it did this on purpose, I don't know what's going to happen...
I really wish all the Smash RU-vidrs would make Smash content. No hate about this video because it has Smash in it but I'm getting tired of seeing Nick All-Stars. Oh well, I'll just not watch those vids and wait for the Smash Content.
I wouldn't really call it Power Wave, seeing as it can be thrown in midair, drops off platforms instead of despawning, and bounces off walls. If anything Lincoln's Down B is rather unique by Smash standards, even if it is simple.
