Wanted to say the same, oh well. Ang the ethereal, persuaded by shazo Zuko in his mech suit, under the order of fire commander Ozai Sounds pretty cool. (I probably butchered all the names)
You can basically define each Tau caste by what waifu you prefer. Fire caste: Fitness tomboy waifu with abs Water caste: super model with smooth voice Earth caste: Shortstack Air caste: Elegant, tall and thin Ethereal caste: Gilfs
Tau Water Caste’s evolutionary trait is that they’re extremely expressive, adept at body language, and able to learn languages intrinsically. All of these traits make them natural negotiators, linguists, merchants, etc.
@@falsehq1831 Not really... intel officer are tasked to collect and exploit intel to predict ennemies move and inform the higher up, allowing them to make the correct decision. An inquisitor is basically a cop dealing with the paranormal, with prosection power. They gather evidence, investigate, prosecute and execute sentences regarding specifics matters. Tho, it's true there are a lot similarities that would make water caste tau as formidable inquisitor. Diplomacy and languages mastery is a very usefull tool in both of these domain.
Orcs are not racist at all. They'll happily bash yer skull in no matter what color you are. Also the Tyranids don't seem to mind race too much, as long as you are made out of biomass you're a valid snacko.
@@artusyeddou5792 orcs dont wanna exterminate other races, they just wanna wagh with them. The extermination is the unfortunate effect orcs have if their opponent doesn't hold up.
@@artusyeddou5792 Like a infectious bacteria the tyrranids don't hate other species for being different, they aren't doing what they are doing out of hatred. They evolve (or perhaps were created) with the desire to grow their total bio mass endlessly. The fact that they exterminate other species because of this is a side effect, not the point. If anything the tyrranids would prefer it if other species didn't go extinct and instead could provide an endless source of biomass as it would be easier and more reliable then what they must do right now.
Shadowsun is an amazing commander but is still not strong enough to kill space marines without her suit. In canon she ended up in a duel with some Imperial guard commander and it said she would have easily lost to him without her battle suit. Tau battle suits seem to increase strength and speed like an ironman suit so that is how she beat a white scar captain who would otherwise have curb stomped her. Its like Tony Stark would get demolished by the Hulk but can face in inside a good Iron man suit.
Honestly, I like the Tau ! It’s true that they’re the odd ones out but I see this more as a quality than a default. It gives more flavour to the overall galaxy, their lore is interesting, they have their own personality as a species and they’re small enough that, if you don’t like them, you can ignore their existence entirely. I’m glad they exist !
@@danielbob2628 its not so much as plot armor as much as "writers incompetence". Honestly, if i was a GW directive i would rewrite most of tau's lore, starting off from the ethereals and farsight, wich lets be honest, was going to be the horus of the tau, because all main """""""good"""""" factions must be split in some way (aeldari/drukhari, Imperium/chaos worshippers and CSM, Tau/Farsight enclave)
@@danielbob2628 i said starting off from, then go to everything. No farsight enclave; No bullshit ethereals are bad that ruins the initial intention of introducing tau making them like everyone else; No gigantic battlesuits that panders the memes but doesn't fit with the tau way of fighting and the list would go on.
@@michelecastellotti9172 This is a good take. I feel like Tau Fanfic would be better than most of the Tau novels. Farsight doing an anime take down of an imperial battleship in only a battle suit and the power of friendship isn't very cool.
It is ironic that Captain-General Little Kitten created and ruled an idealized/optimistic version of the Tau Empire ("The Bellyscratch Coalition of Good Lads") when playing the Stellaris game in the TTS Special 7. I mean it is not like that Kitten hated the Tau with a burning passion just because Shadowsun had left him for the Greater Good or something.
In 40k, whenever there is four of ANYTHING, each one of the four usually corresponds to a Chaos God. I think this might be an exception, but given how a warp storm saved the Tau during their stone age I'm not entirely sure that Chaos has zero hand in the situation.
@@mattmark94 Surviving Eldar gods. Khaine for Khorne, Cegorach for Tzeentch, Isha for Nurgle, and there is a theory that Ynnead is partially corrupted by Slaanesh. Ever notice how much Ynnead's "demons" look like Slaaneshi ones?
I think the four castes are sort of opposites to the four gods of Chaos The Water Caste is the opposite of Tit-Snitch because whereas the Mollusk lies and riddles, the Water Caste seems legit The Fire Caste is the opposite of Khorne, as where Khorne brings carnage and mayhem to the battle, the Fire Caste bring discipline and order The Earth Caste are the opposite of Nurgle, as where grandfather Nurgle brings stagnation and decay, the Earth Caste bring progress and structure The Air Caste is opposite to Slaanesh. Don't ask, just roll with it And the Ethereal Caste is the opposite to Malal, because unlike Malal, the Ethereals actually exist
@@viktord2025 now, you are right, it makes sense and it sounds cool on every level, However games workshop decided to probably just go woth the "40k gundam" instead of something as cool and fitting with their lore as that
@@michelecastellotti9172 He was joking. The Water Caste prizes deception and plotting, Khorne loves the concept of honor, Nurgle loves the idea of life growing and prospering, etc. That whole reply was just intended to set up the joke at the end.
One of my favorite Tau stories come from Peter Fehervari's Dark Coil. Greater Evil, Sanctuary of Wyrms, Fire Caste and Fire and Ice are all REALLY great. In one of them there even is Iron Hand going on suicide mission alongside Tau sidekick. All of you read Dark Coil.
@@epithed-boi4961 To be fair, Shadowsun has a short lifespan of a mortal while Kitten lived for a very long time and doesn't age for 10,000 years like his fellow Custodes. He would outlive her. It makes sense why Shadowsun broke up with Kitten and left him.
@@rexlumontad5644 Shadowsun should be kept in freezer and only taken out for two hours every second sunday for big tiddy tau girlfriend time. That way Kitten could be with her for millenia
It is my personal head canon that each Tau caste can bend like in avatar, Fire caste bends fire, Earth caste bends earth, you get the point. But only certain tau in each caste are capable of doing it and a large majority of tau can't bend
Great vid man. I love their aesthetics and firepower, but just now getting into their lore with the farsight and damocles novels. I actually like their nods at Asian culture and their way of life. It's a stark contrast to the other universe factions and combined with their tech and aesthetics has placed them in my top 3 favorite races thus far.
Tau are the Silent King's attempt to re-create the necrontyr. Short lives, weak bodies, smart and good with tech. Big problem with the necrontyr (other than the super cancer. And yay-Tau got a normal star!) ranged from their inability to fully unite together to their high propensity for civil war. So much less of a problem when you engineer the new ones to "listen better". I don't know, probably not, but it would be a nice twist.
@@koichidignitythief7429 , perhaps you missed the part about their lack of radiation poisoning death to their star being without a c'tan fucking it all up. Maybe, just maybe, they enjoy longer lives without that, eh.
@@Hallowed_Ground Jesus guys: they evolved on their home planet, right, the one with the nightbringer in the star.. pretty basic logic. it's explained that their DNA is mutated so badly from the effects of this that they need old ones tech to reverse it somehow.
Tau aren't actually mind controlled. This was lore that was suggested by an author that most of the Tau community considers to be divergent from all other Tau lore if not directly contradictory. Most people write it off as "imperial propaganda" or misunderstandings. Additionally, the whole "vespid are controlled by helmets" has also been disproven, but people like to swing it around cause "lul Tau bad funny"
@@Hallowed_Ground The podcast "Pod Caste" on spotify is a podcast of discussing Tau-related 40k lore delving into all the books about Tau. I personally don't know all of them, but they have a couple episodes on that podcast that talks about which books they are referencing, and you can read them yourself too to learn more! The only two I know of that are the best references for this are "Firewarrior" and "Fire and Ice". Cheers!
Looking at geography of the Galaxy. the Tau Empire is right next to the Realm of Ultramar. I am surprised Guilliman and Kitten haven't teamed up to turn the Tau Empire into the next line up of Macragge Blue.
For me i started as a SUPER FAN of the SPACE MARINEs, now mi super fan of the Imperial Guard, love me some weak humans kicking ass, i love all factions of the WH40k and i also love teh TAU dont know why most people not like them.
I love the Tau. My crisis units stack Fusion, Melta's and Plasma and Smart Missiles all day, jump out frag something jump back behind cover leave pools of melted Imperium slag behind: yes please LOL :P
Majorkill I watch ur videos every single day could u please make a Video for loyalist space marines in traitor legions?? Specially loken !!! I think a lot of people would enjoy hearing you explain the plot of a few Horus heresy novels
Love your vids man, you’re my go-to channel for all things 40k lore, way more entertaining than those other shitty monotonous bore-fests. How about a vid on fan theories about possible links between WHFB/AoS and 40k universe?
Now if only the Castes of the Tau Empire learn how to properly melee like Commander Farsight and his Enclaves have done and they can kick ass in battle Gundam style for the Greater Good.
I think Alfa said in the comment section of that ep where Kitten bites it that had TTS continued, the custodes accompanying Kitten would've used the Protheous thing to bring him back. But he would suffered the negative side effects of the Protheous; insanity, loss of inhibitions, and to quote from the 40k wiki about the Protheous, "Filled with dark desires and alien hunger that can never be satiated". Maybe Kitten would comeback simping for tau booty instead of hating them, wouldn't that be a sight.
Surprised you didn't talk about how every caste and rank is integrated into tau names. Ie "shas" is fire, "aun" is ethereal, "o" is commander. So shas'o is a fire commander, aun'o is an ethereal commander, etc
To be fair its a bit different when your talking on a planetary unification and space colonization scale, since each caste is individually large enough to have diversity. Let alone since other than the Etheral Caste all are equal there would be nothing stopping an Air, Fire, or Water caste member from collaborating with Earth caste and giving them their practical experience and ideas on what would help each caste's tech improve.
Unrelated but I believe angron was incredibly important and forward thinking... just not to any major party. While in the slave pits he became indoctrinated into the Church of the Abyss (not to be confused with the cult of the abyss), a group that admired all things nothing. As such angron strove to do nothing of worth and become nothing of value, something extremely difficult in 40k especially if you are a primarch. Nonetheless he prevailed against all odds for a time, and would have continued to do so if he hadn't become corrupted by khorne.
How does Shadowsun beat space marines? Allow me to demonstrate. Space Marine: *Charges at her like a sperg, as they usually do* Shadowsun: *Uses fusion blaster despite space marine charging at her like a sperg* (Crazy, I know) Space Marine: *Surprised half-melted pikachu face*
To balance out the high views the Tau videos get you should make an age of sigmar video. (Specifically one about the Kharadron Overlords cause they're the coolest thing in the setting).
No, but you can assist other caste in a task for example fire warriors who show talent in technology and repair are used as combat engineers and assist the earth caste.
Hey Majorkill! If you had a chance, would you make a guest appearance on the Lorehammer podcast? Or more specifically, it’s sister pod, Let’s Talk Lorehammer.
My dude MK at 3:30 forgot that the explosion of the creation of Slaanesh has warped time, causing hundred of thousands or maybe millions of years of technological advancements for the Tau relative to their planet, meaning the rest of the 40K universe was moving in slow pace while the Tau within their relativity were advancing at light speeds with the power of the warp
if Ethereal origins are unclear, and water caste is like the discount version, could the Ethereal really just be water caste? Like either some evolutionary branch kept secret, or intentionally created through modification by the water caste?
