because i'm soft and i have too much time on my hands i figured i should give everyone a little present today so here you go, eat up🫶🏻 #goodomens #aziraphale #crowley #aziracrow #ineffablehusbands
I have a theory that humans started using “angel” as a petname after hearing Crowley use it for Aziraphale over the years, and that just makes me so happy
Broke: crowley calls aziraphale by what he is Woke: crowley does call aziraphale by what he is, but over the years its evolved into a Sentiment he cant get away from and taken a very, very sappy life of its own
Saw smth on Tumblr that it started out as an insult, a sort of "You kiss up to God like all of God's other angels" but then it became an affectionate term over time
I like the idea that Crowley only calls Azi an Angel( despite everyone from heaven being an Angel) is because Azi is the ONLY Angel he actually considers to be an Angel, one who would do good and actually has morality and love.
Maybe it's just me but you can tell when the "angel" is used as in "you're physically an angel" and when it's "my angel", term of endearment. Like 0:28 sounds like 'you're an angel' and 0:48 and 0:57 sounds like 'my angel'. Also can almost hear how he gets more comfortable using it.
If you watch the show in other languages (like French), it is DEFINITELY meant to be a petname. The way they are written (Angel- species vs angel- petname) shows how it goes from formal to romantic :]
In French crowley actively calls azi "My angel", in the book and TV! And it would be perfectly grammatical for him to just call him angel, but the my was specifically added! Very cute.
I'm curious about how many times Crowley actually calls Aziraphale his name to his face. The few times I can remember him saying it was to other characters
in the flood too, "kick, aziraphale, kick butts for heaven's sake", and when he is all drunk and depressed and aziraphale appears as a ghost. I can't remember in the second season though
I love that it starts as a snide comment that slowly morphs into a pet name. He loves his angel and we need things to go right in S3. EVERYONE NEEDS TO HEAL.
Shit had me cracking up. Like his brain was too quick but he was too slow to stop his mouth and realized that he was lying to her and to himself. Like the words just weren't sitting right in his mouth and he was uncomfortable lying and instead of sounding convincing he sounded unsure of himself lmfao
As someone that watched the show I can confirm that Aziraphale is in fact, an Angel, but he isn't any Angel, he's Crowley's Angel, personalized celestial soulmate
When you call someone by their job title to keep the relationship from becoming personal. But the relationship becomes personal anyway, and the nickname sticks.
i love that in the french version not only does crowley call azi “mon ange (my angel)” multiple times, he also calls him “l’angelot “, which means angel or little angel but also cherub.
He always uses Angel as an endearment except when he his voice cracks saying, “He’s an Angel I know.” He’s not walking around calling other angels “angel.”
David Tennant has such subtle ways of inflection that change Angel to a term of endearment, to a pet name, to your mother using your full name after she found out your scratched the car
@@joodle_doodle Maybe they meant chronological by time rather than by episode. Like putting the Job minisode first, then France and Scotland and so on. I would like to see an edit like that.
In the official subtitles, most of the time when Crowley refers to Aziraphale the capitalisation of angel is different, like its a PET NAME FOR HIM as opposed to stating what Az is.
