My first dive watch was the Casio Duro. After trying several different watches to figure out what I wanted (within a budget of $300 or less), I have an Islander ISL-09. Love, love the blue!
When you have finished this series can you do a video on how many watches you have in total and how you store them e.g. all thrown in a drawer, automatics all on winders, in display boxes, combination of all or whatever?
@@carlvoxvires Strange question! I would find it very difficult rob the guy as I live in the UK! I would love to know how watch collectors store their watches. I have tried loads of ways and not happy with nay of them. always good to get ideas.
My favorite dive watch is the one I inherited from my Dad who passed away 10 years ago. He bought an orange dial Seiko Arnie while he was in the Navy and it still works like a charm. I’m 34 and that watch is older than I am.
Your vintage Seamaster is awesome!!! That thing is in amazing condition, love the look of it with that original brushed small link integrated bracelet 👌
I really love that vintage Omega Seamaster, plus I wish I kept or still had the watches of my youth 1970s. Well done for keeping them. That Panerai looks the goods as well.
I just started watching your videos. Great collection and content. More importantly, I hope Connie’s still around because it sounds like you really love her.
Absolutely the Panerai is my favorite. Most unique. I've got a Spring Drive Tuna - wonderful watch, gorgeous sweep. I am wearing my Bathy's Bethnic Ti - Retrograde day, Big Date (quartz, 44mm). On a strap that is vintage canvas, leather backed.
My first "real" watch was a Sumo. BIG mistake. Today, I'm a diver addict; I've got 8 of them (including 3 Baby Tunas). The crazy thing is, the one time I went scuba diving, I was wearing a 5000 G-Shock.
Panerai! Such a beautiful watch. And it really standa apart from all other divers. And of course Seiko Skx007 - I love it so much that I had to have it 🤣 I actually upgraded the movement on it and it is one of my go to everyday watches. You got a great collection, Jory. And I love the fact that you do not give a s... about all the negative or criticizing comments. These are your watches, your choices, and you wear them :)
To be honest none of them give me a warm and fuzzy feeling, but obviously you love them. I'm a bit surprised by the lack of a more modern Omega, given the history and more modern technology used in them.
For those wondering about an off-the-shelf movement in Jory's Panerai, I wish I had made the same decision he did. I was so enamored with getting an in-house movement that I bought a new Panerai 312 (I believe the first in-house movement in a modern Panerai) and it was a poor decision. In 5 years of ownership it had to go back to Italy twice for movement failures, both of which cost me close to 4 figures and the watch was out of my possession for 3+ months each time. It would have been so much easier having an ETA-containing model that I could fix down at my local watch shop. There's a reason this dude has 100k subscribers ;)
Thank you so much, Glenn! I’m sorry for your rough experience w/ your 312, I hope it was eventually resolved. Super frustrating to hear stories like that.
The Time Teller thanks for the response. We all learn things over the years of collecting watches. It’s all part of the experience. Just picked up a new khaki mechanical in the DLC dark bronze color on your recommendation. Very different from my usual watches but you’re right that the simplicity and honesty of the watch is refreshing. 80 hours power is not bad either! Thanks for what you do!
I tell my friends at work NOT to get into watch collecting. If they love their money please pick a less expensive hobby and one that don't come with so many options that makes you want to buy them all hahaha!!
Loved your story on the Pamerai and the Seiko 007. For me what git me hooked was my first serius watch a 1997 officialy certified white dial, kontiki, almost 24 years kater its still beutifull.
I recently purchased my first real watch, I went with the SKX009. I say first because I already have a list of what I want to have in my modest budget collection. Thanks for your videos, not only do I learn a lot but now at least I have someone to blame for my new found addiction 😂
OMG I cant finish watching this video, first 3 wtaches are all Seiko! how creative are you! let me tell you what time it is Mr. time teller, its time to discover new brands!!
My dive watch is a Citizen Promaster Aqualand 2 . I use it as a backup when diving because of the integrated, water activated dive computer. I mean...a f-ing dive computer in the watch! It shows current depth, temperature, dive log, dive time alert, max depth alert, ascend speed alert.... And from personal experience I can say it works. I once had to do an emergency ascend and was a bit to fast in the beginning and my main suunto dive computer was warning me and so did the Aqualand.
Excellent vid sir, have to be honest was looking forward to this part of your collection since you announced you had started your SOTC, that Tuna is crazy, however that makes it desirable. Keep them coming
My favorite is definitely the Panerai, because of its originality and because it is a really very well built machine. The one I don't like is the baby tuna. And the watch that I would like to see be part of your collection is the Monta Ocean King. Great video by the way.
I love that Omega Seamaster! I also like the Covid 19 hairstyle! I realize I’m an old man, but I hate the white sidewalk look! Thanks for sharing your beautiful collection of watches! Great video, Jory, as always!!! Keep up the good work!
Thanks. Great video. Really enjoyed the Omega and I like the Panerai more than I thought I would. The movement is a great feature. Side note: I did purchase a Vostoc Scuba Dude after you did your video. I really enjoy its retro vibe and quirky crown. It seems solid and fun.
As always, great video. I have a small dive watch collection, including two you may be interested in; the Citizen Promaster Dive Watch and the Deep Blue Defender. I would be interested to hear what you think of Deep Blue watches; all their models are 300m divers.
That Tuna is awesome. Would friggin' love one but with my little tween girl 6.5" wrists it's just too big for me. If Seiko would come out with say a slimmed down 40-42mm-ish version I'd be all over it. Now your Omega is a pretty pretty piece indeed. Keep that one in your collection.
Interesting collection. When I am not diving professionally, I love heading for the South Pacific. Many islands with beautiful corals. The Red Sea is another good place to dive. Where do you venture to? Or do you just dive off California?
In the UK picking up an skx 007 is around £350. Is it worth getting one as a diver at that price or is it worth getting something else (Orient ray 2 is approx £120). I'm guessing that when the 007 was approx £150 nothing could touch it for value but are there better divers for under £300? ($350 US). Thanks and keep up the good work 👍
Hi TTT I'd highly recommend the Orient Star Open Heart, as there's not a single English review of the darn thing on RU-vid. Perhaps the reference RE-AT0001L? Or whichever one you fancy. In house, hand finished movement, 50 hour power reserve, Power Reserve Indicator complication, sapphire crystal, solid bracelet with SEL and a milled clasp and a beautifully finished dial all for under $500.
Hey T3, just my 2 cents but your Baby Tuna (my fave in this video!) would look even better with a black PVD buckle/tang. I did that for my Zelos Swordfish leather strap and I really like the look. Great content, keep 'em rolling out and here's to working towards 200k subscribers! p.s. Next diver... Helm Khuraburi?
Hi Jory, great video again. Looking to add a Seiko dive watch to my very small watch collection and was going to order the reissued 'Arnie' (love 80's looking watches) but the Baby Tuna is a good looking watch. Also what's your opinion on Ball watches, I've seen a few that look pretty good for the price? Stay safe.
You mentioned that your dad got you into watch collecting. Curious which watches you have gotten from him and or which watches he has in his collection.
I have two from your collection (skx007 & 16800). For your next vintage diver, consider Omega Ploprof. Its a big, seriously ugly hunk of steel, but honestly, I've gotten the most compliments than any other watch I own, Looks big, but wears very flat on the wrist. Another to consider, though maybe a bit trite, is the Omega SM300 (original Bond era). Sure, its before the whole in house co-axial movement. Their first few movements (Planet Ocean) required movement updates, and eventually reduced their claims of a service interval from every 10yrs back to 5yrs. So, what really is the advantage of the co-axial movement? I recently timegraphed my 18yr old Bond 2531.80...running perfect. Super price for a pre-owned COSC (they made so many), maybe change up the bracelet (a bit 90's) to a modern tactical apocalyptic style.
You say Tag Heuer as overpriced - isn't your panerai overpriced? That ETA movment doesn't cost more than 500 dollars(if purchased in retail), so overall production price isn't more than 1000 dollars. And see the actual price of this watch! Isn't overpriced ?
@@josipmusura9077 I own a 20 dollar Casio analog with leather strap. Believe me it looks a way more expensive than it actually is. It just matches its price with what I am wearing . And Casio being a less expensive brand still gives alot of support and very low maintanence cost .
I know it was probably just a typo but you put up tiktokwatchrepairs.com but should be tictocwatchrepairs.com, but I still enjoy your channel and content more than any other channel. And I can attest to how awesome tictocwatchrepairs are because they were able to turn my vintage Tissot Jubilium in about 2 weeks. Thanks again Jory.
I have a Omega Seamaster “DeVille” that was my grandfathers. He got it when he saw Sean Connery wearing it in from Russia with love. The movement still works, but I’m not sure how accurate it’s timekeeping is. How much does omega charge to service a watch? Would they service a watch that old?
