Update: Turns out I didn't capture it but it does exist. I could upload it to my channel. You can use it if you want. Or just keep playing. Eventually you'll get rain. Great videos. Keep It up.
Not having the option of multiplayer, or at the very least having one bot, to play against is a huge misstep. I'll still eventually pick it up cause the game looks gorgeous and the mechanics look solid ... but having single player only is a curious omission that is just puzzling to me.
I just picked this up today. Excited to try it out. I'm a vive owner but for whatever reason never picked up golf club vr. Back when the move was released with the ps3 and tiger woods golf started supporting mive controllers it was amazing.
I just got this game and I am so addicted! I'm sure it will get boring after a while since there are only 3 courses, but I love trying to beat my highest score. I also really love the replays with several different perspectives, especially when you fly along with the ball. It would be cool if they come out with some updates with new content!
I'm enjoying the shit out of this game. My only gripe is the need to toggle out of practice mode for each swing. It would be nice to be able to switch the default mode or disable practice.
Also, for the slice, just do the same swing but turn the motion controller axis counterclockwise with your wrists. It helped me a lot, do it very forced so you can see the effect and then gradually find the best rotation for you. Hard to explain in words
I like this game. However, the game is flawed. You can not take a regular golf swing without slicing. I have a 6 handicap. My swing is just fine. You have to take a hard putt to hit the ball consistently straight. That way the club is straight through impact. This is a horrible teaching aid for golfers, but it is fun. I can get -4 on all but the Dinosaur course. That one is difficult.
Kerry it's definitely not completely accurate, but I think it's pretty dang close for an arcade-style game. The fact that a good golfer like you is already getting -4, and crappy golfers like myself are lucky to get +6 shows that quite a bit of your skill is carrying over! I agree that it's not a teaching aid, but I also doubt it was intended to be one.
Yes, but it's more of understanding the tech. If I swing properly it's a dramatic slice. I just take the club back about 3 feet and then hard through the ball. I can purposefully hook or slice the ball sometimes, but if you watch every video on the game, everyone trying a full swing to hit the ball is slicing the ball really bad. Honestly i'm not sure the best way to hit the ball. Sometimes i just swing with my right arm like stated above. It's a really good start and for those that don't play golf, it's good.
Sweet review as always dude 😁 This game is such a joy to play and was exactly what I expected! The single thing I hope they do, is not even multiplayer, it's just online tournaments! I couldn't care if I'm not literally playing against someone else, just to do a round and see my place at the end would be awesome!
I had the same slice problem at first. It was driving my nuts for hours during the demo! I fixed it by doing my normal grip and addressing the ball. Then I would loosen my grip and spin the move controller just a lit bit to close the club face a little. Finally, I would tight my grip again and take my swing. It mentally didn't look right compared to where the club face sits in real life, but it fixed it right up for the game. Also, it was important to rotate my hips with the swing (to where I would almost take a step forward at the end of my swing) to consistently hit it perfect every time. I think having no club weight affects something in your hand rotation to where you have to over compensate (close the club face in more than normal) a little if you use a real-ish world swing.
One of the best vr games so far, really accurate, the only downside is the caddies they are so annoying and talk while you take your swing with no way to turn them off.
I played the demo of this but not owning any move controllers tend to use wheel cockpit for racing and aim for gun games. The ds4 tracking was so difficult it actually put me off how well the game tracks the move controllers, like "opening" the club face to add slice or backsipn etc. I'll eventually get a move controller and this game. Looks awesome.
I have played this a fair bit now. The more I play it, the more I like it. Just got done a session and I'm sweating like Shaq right now. Good workout with how many times I've swung and missed. I really love the putting. I use one hand for the clubs and 2 hands for the putting. The putting is fabulous. I do feel the caddies need to be adjusted. Quite often they will say nice shot on a bad shot and sigh on a great shot. Really loving this game though.
Spot on Review, Chris! I too am disappointed that it doesn't even have at minimum either local multiplayer (swapping the headset to the next player) or just playing against an AI golfer. Even adding some golf crowd or other randomly animated spectators would alleviate some of the "loneliness" factor. But, the controls and visuals are spot on and most importantly the game is just genuinely FUN to play. So overall, I don't regret the purchase. I hope they do offer more courses as DLC in the future though, but at least the $30 price is fair for what it is.
Don't close your fist like Juampan said. It's the follow through. I had your problem, focusing on my follow through fixed it. Funny enough, I actually fixed it during the demo. I'm now shooting -3 in the first course front 9
Everybody's Golf 6 for PS3 haunts my dreams. That is either my favorite or least favorite game, depending if I'm having a Happy Gilmour/Tin Cup kind of day, though.
Nice review! I don’t play golf IRL (yet) but I might get it anyways. You didn’t mention if the game is relaxing. Is it comparable to Catch and Release or is more of a mental workout? If it had multiplayer I would have bought it immediately, if only to play a round or two against you sometime, after some practice...
if you look at the club face after hitting your ball it gives you an idea why you slice as strike is every thing and face to path of you swing (in to out swing)
These Devs made the best golf game ever! Too bad they were afraid to finish it!!! They should have called it "Only One Persons Driving Range Simulator VR". Everybody??????? More like Nobody ! Only buying on sale.
Great video of everyBODYs golf. Ta. BTW, I played in rain yesterday, but predominantly the game is sunny. Not sure if the weather affected the shots as it was only a 3H
Shugghead Gaming Pretty sure it was cosmetic, Riko didn’t even have an umbrella which would have been a nice touch. For all the omissions i still love it. Shows what a solid game it is.
Thanks for the review. I have to say, so much seem to have been removed from the "regular" game ( only 3 courses?! O_o ) that it feels like this should have been a DLC for Everybody's Golf, for 15 bucks or so. Sold here in Europe for about 30 bucks, I feel it's way overpriced. What are your thoughts on its pricing?
Just played for the 1st time tonight. In 45 minutes I only managed to actually hit the ball 6 times. Finally I quit in rage and frustration. The game gives me no feedback on what I'm doing wrong.
I feel this was the right direction to change character design. I started to get annoyed by those asian fantasy looking short characters in previous games and the current cartoony style on PS4. Like you said, characters are more realistic now, but more vivid and contrast compared to PGA Tour games. Probably hit the perfect medium for the franchise going forward. I didn't liked the open world concept of Everybody's Golf on PS4. I thought the multiplayer was a mess and players were in my way on the course. Way too much dialogues in text and a boring grind fest. If they want dialogues why not create a separate story mode that doesn't bother others who just want to play golf.
Lol i wasn't going to buy this until it went on sale, but i won a thousand dollars yesterday and said fuck it. So i got the game and its good but c'mon now, it really needs multiplayer
So I would imagine you sung like you would in real life? I am not a real golfer nor can hit a ball in real life. I found it easier to use one hand and just go back and swing. Sure it takes away from the realism but the shots were more accurate.
I have a tendency to hook in real life but in this I always slice, it looks and sound great but swing tracking is limited, you can drive, 260 yards with a quarter swing. I think it will give real golfers bad habits, nice try though
