EVERYONE IS DEAD... Reaction To Alice In Borderland Episode 3!!! 

This episode shocked everyone

This episode has varying reactions. I tend to agree with you in that I feel it lacks suspense, though I wasn't so bothered as others about some characters apparently getting killed off early. Chota was already badly injured. Karube tends to be mourned more by viewers but there are plenty of others in this cast. Some see it as a big emotional high point like the infamous Squid Game episode. It does show that some who seem major characters aren't immune to being in jeopardy, so perhaps that adds more suspense for the future. I wouldn't have minded a twist to throw me off. It's uncertain what the solution was in this game, maybe it was only meant to have one survivor anyway or maybe they could have used reflections to make more than one wolf? It was meant to create betrayal but it was like they settled on Arisu surviving by the end. Despite the atmospheric setting and drama I would put this as a bottom two episode in the first series. But I really like the episodes coming up.
