Colin was definitely jealous. Not bc of the money, he had his own inheritance that makes him as wealthy as 3 earls in his own right. It’s about the fact that she has found a purpose. That goes back to their convo in s2 about finding what they are meant to do with their lives. It was clear in ep6, he said he was making a manuscript and he wanted to do it himself to prove to her that he could accomplish something worthwhile on his own. I saw a lot of ppl take issue with Colin for the entrapment comment which I really don’t get. Yes, he was absolutely the instigator of them being intimate so in that sense he was wrong but consider the fact that Marina tried to use him, seduce him and get him to elope I understand why he would lash out when he finds out Penelope hid this huge secret when they slept together. In the other hand, pen lost Eloise when she found out an😅it whistledown so I get why she was scared to tell him. Also everything between them was so new and happened very quickly. I do think Colin was just being stubborn for being so pressed about when pen said regarding him “not knowing himself.” He had mocked the idea of courting her in public in front of eligible men making her seem undesirable. She was rightfully hurt, especially considering he had promised to always protect her . Then he came back with a new personality, acting like a complete rake. What she said wasn’t a lie. Eloise and Violet said the exact same thing. As far as I’m concerned they are even. They both said something embarrassing about the other in public.
So, other people in the comments have been saying Pen will have sources in the ton helping her report gossip, so she won't have to blend in anymore and I agree, that's probably what will happen. However, I also keep thinking about the end of ep 6 when Pen tells Eloise she sees now she should've been using LW to give a voice to the other voiceless in the ton, so I wonder if to some extent, there might be a shift in Pen's mission statement, if you will, when it comes to LW about shining a positive light on people in the ton who are overlooked and if Ben is the season 4 lead, I feel like that would be kinda perfect for his love story. I'm p convinced Ben will be next bc they always have the next season lead declare they want something different than how their season will play out in the final episode of the season. Anthony was like, "I'm not gonna marry for love" and he did. Colin said, "I wouldn't court Penelope Featherington" and actually to be fair, he didn't court Pen lol, he went straight to marriage 😂 but you get my point. Ben said, he's not ready to close his world up again and it's a more subtle declaration than Anthony and Colin had, but I don't really think Eloise has made her declaration yet, and I want her to have more time to grow before we get to her season.
The masquerade ball is a hint for the next season at least we hope cause Benedict's story in the books begins with a masquerade ball The camera work was different because every 2 episodes had a different director... The last two were directed by the person who directed Queen Charlotte
She gets revealed in book. It was the only way they could stop Cressida from blackmailing her. I don’t understand why people are hating on this season. This my favorite season so far. 🤷🏾♀️
Unpopular opinion but the way people drag Colin about being mad at Penelope for all the horrible things she has said and wrote being lady whistledown and not one person says Penelope is not as nice as she looks so everyone was jumping down Colin throat for having some type of emotion and the entrapment comment after being betrayed by Marina and the person you said you loved writing horrible things about your family and your sister and then you and if Penelope wanted the Colin she knew back why does she not just ask why is he doing that if there's such good friends? I hate the way people said that Colin needed to beg more or to be more groveling but nobody said that Penelope needed to be a better person or change her character like I was not a fan of her this season and unnecessary hate Colin got and people praising anthony and Simon like Simon was activity lying to his wife because she was naive and instead of anthony to stop courting edwina and see if the feelings for Kate would go or keep growing he decided to propose but when Colin knew he wanted to be with Penelope he proposed and made sure he wifed her up quickly but Penelope the liar and impulsive writer who writes without making considering other people's feelings deserves better. Okay internet maybe you and I watched two different shows.
Tbh you're actually not wrong. Looking back on it Pen wasn't right to write what she wrote about Colin. In my opinion I feel as though Pen always wrote whatever she couldn't say aloud and whatever she was feeling at the moment without thinking about how it would effect the other person. It was basically her weapon to get back on someone without actually saying it to their face. I felt that she somewhat understood what her actions meant after she had to write about Eloise. Colin and Eloise are actually SO good for not revealing her secret despite what she wrote. But I'm happy that in the end she realises how lucky she is to have a husband and friend like them. Ketsia💕
When Violet was talking to Francesca about not being able to speak when she met her Dad I was thinking oooppp!!! 👀. Francesca right at the end had the same experience with John’s cousin Michaela
I think you should read the book if you can. It’s a very short read & will give you the clarity you’re looking for😊. The LW reveal is different & involves Colin after Cressida’s blackmail attempt, but wasn’t a big deal to the ton either in the end. The show made LW a thing w/the Queen from S1 so they had to amp up the drama.
Pen's excuses for writing about Colin were a bit gross. She was lashing out at him because she was angry, hurt and jealous, but as you said, that is the sort of conversation that should be kept between the two of them. The conversation they did have about it was great, but also soured by her initial response. She wants him the way she wants him, and didn't like that he changed, yet she's never once bothered to ask him why. Him believing that she lacks respect for him is completely understandable. I know she's a gossip, and a fundamental lack of consideration for other people's feelings and privacy is a given, but he was her friend for a long time. He always protected her, and saw her when nobody else did. What happened in 2x08 sucks, but one incident shouldn't negate all those years. Besides, Pen's intentional, pre-meditated, public attack on him was much worse than Colin's one-off, spur-of-the-moment comment to a limited number of people. All their conversations in S3 have been primarily focussed on her, largely because she let him believe he needed to earn back her friendship, when she'd already gotten her petty revenge. Her crush on him may have been one-sided in the first two seasons, but their friendship never was, until this season. Whether it's because the writers listened to all that toxic, entitled nonsense people kept saying about wanting to see Colin grovel, which is really gross, or for some other reason, that does not make for a healthy dynamic. I mean, she wanted him so badly for so long, but now that she has his love, she cares more about her ego? She'd really choose trashy gossip over the life she could have with him? Really?! Also, you were spot on about Eloise and Colin loyally keeping Pen's secrets, no matter how hurt and angry they were about them. Which is kind of ironic, since Penelope herself has little respect for anyone else's secrets.
I have to disagree with your view with Penn and whistledown, her being outed as whistledown can ruin the whole family. As Eloise said her name is Bridgerton now she can't be both. And for Penn to act like she used whistledown for good is just not true she used it as a weapon and that is why people are after her. Penn is being totally selfish as she can ruin Colin family name just look at Anthony response to the Queen.
I get what you're saying, but: Their society is the problem here though, and the Queen/palace has some power to either change it or reinforce it. Society restricts the women and has very low expectations of the men. The women are expected to marry and be perfect, and the men who they must marry can be absolutely awful and get away with it. If the women weren't restricted and unable to have the ability to have a writing career, or inherit wealth or titles, and have the freedom to choose to marry who they love when they are ready to find love (not at a marriage mart where they are paraded around like a product to be sold to the highest bidder and discarded after 3 years), then there would be no issue with Pen having her own voice heard...ergo Lady Whistledown wouldn't have been created in the first place. The speech Colin made to Cressida to plead for her mercy highlights the situation well. The later speech from Pen & the queen adds to it too. The talk with Lady Danbury while playing chess helps too. Every problem in this show leads back to societal backlash or expectations. The Mondriches should have also been able to earn income if they wanted to too. (I'm more of a fan of classic novels actually written by authors who lived in the 1800s, that focus on socioeconomic classes and people in poverty or the trades. This show is too focused on restricting the stories to those in power. E.g. author Elisabeth Gaskell, book title: North and South. Is my favourite novel that has substance and is well written by a woman in the difficult era she lived in. There's a great 2004 BBC mini series with Richard Armitage in it as the leading male actor.) PS: I do get that this show and the books are not historical and are a fictional fantasy like genre. Eloise has been my favourite, and Theo was a great addition to her story. She's a flawed character that is too self focused, but funny as hell. The way they wrote her character this season was a bit much though.
Regardless of how Pen used it (I'm not saying what she did was good) but Pen had the power to change society for women. Of course if everyone were to find out it will cause big trouble for the Bridgertons but it doesn't change the fact that whatever Pen wrote had a big impact on society rules which would be better for women in the ton in the long run

The voice of Lady Whistledown is the Great Dame Julie Andrews! She was Mary Poppins, and Maria in the Sound of Music. The most recent thing she has done are the Princess Diaries movies.
I want a Violet/Edmund spinoff after Benedict's season and for it to be dual-timeline like Queen Charlotte was, so we see parallels between their relationship and Anthony's, Colin's and Benedict's relationships. Esp because I really feel like there's a little bit of Edmund in all their children and it'd be really cool to get to know those characters more through Edmund and to get to know Edmund through them. Also, in terms of the pacing of the show for this season. I don't think S3 was written with the midseason hiatus in mind, I think that was a decision made by Netflix after the strikes last year and they really wanted to milk the Bridgerton hype for as long as they could. TV shows used to be written with a midseason finale in mind, but this show has always been written to keep us watching in one sitting or over the course of a weekend. I think ep 4 seemed like a natural midseason cliffhanger, but tbh every episode has somewhat of a cliffhanger so that we click "next episode" as soon as it's over. I think splitting the season in two parts when it wasn't written to be watched like that manufactured this feeling of the two halves seeming disjointed. I haven't had a chance to rewatch the season start to finish yet, so I could be wrong, but I just have a little feeling I'll enjoy it more when I experience it as a whole product, rather than two separate halves of a whole, if that makes sense? If I watch all the way through and disagree with myself then...you didn't read this paragraph lmao 😂😂
I definitely feel the same way about the split as well! I think it would've been better if they just released the whole thing. I would REAALLLYYY love an Edmund and Violet backstory.

I've been watching your way to this epiphany throughout this season and you are absolutely right about Eloise. She's a very sheltered and privileged person that's why she can talk about what she doesn't like about society, but she lacks a reason to actually take matters into her own hands. And that's what separates her from Penelope and now Cressida.
Fun reaction ladies! I cackled at you saying Pen will turn around to see Colin & it happened😂. In the book, he follows & catches her too but it happens much earlier & leads into the carriage scene shenanigans we saw in ep4😆. Tbf, we got more story in the show than was in the book for Part 1. Colin gets with Pen in the book pretty quickly once it clicks to him how much he actually likes & wants Pen. There was no Lord Debling to trigger him. A lot of his awakening is done through his inner monologues & proximity to Pen. I think the show did well to give the audience something visual in place of it to show Colin coming to the realization. Perhaps ppl got used to show Kanthony taking so long to get together & it received A LOT of complaints at the time. It’s interesting how Polin’s didn’t take too long & still ppl complain. The beauty of the show/book is illustrating different types of romantic partnerships and that should be celebrated😊.

You can see Usagi blurred at the intersection in the very first episode of the drama. Someone did a video comparing that scene at the start and in the final episode and they align well, the moment the lights go off is when the meteor hits. The first time the scene is shown from different angles so we only see Usagi not the others.
They are in the Border between life and death, it is hinted to in the first game that they played when Arisu's friends were alive. Those who chose to become citizens of that world died in the world of the living. The Joker is a representation of the game played in the world of the Living , the game of life, and life can be any type of game ( heart,spade,diamond, and club) and it is game no one can win (we all will die one day)
It's a hearts game so it's about playing with the mind. If Mira just attacked them it would be more like a spades game, so that wasn't very likely. If it was virtual reality as first suggested then all of that world would have been virtual reality even before the fireworks, as I thought Mira suggested. There were clues all through, but particularly in the last 8 episodes, that it was about having the will to live and fighting to survive. The 'borderland' they enter is between life and death. It isn't a normal world but it looks like one. The games represent the fight to survive after the meteor strike. They have the same injuries in the game as in real life. All players we know were seen at the site of the meteor. When someone died in real life this was seen as the laser hitting them, or a collar exploding etc. In a lot of these games people sacrificed themselves, others had a greater will to live. So even if shot a lot or running into fire like Aguni you don't necessarily die here. There were always suggestions that this world was different, how could Aguni possibly survive a tiger jumping at him by punching it? The citizens will have been given a choice in an earlier round of games to become citizens or return. A citizen's role seems to be to test those in future games, they have no will to return to real life. That some get lasered suggests that their will to live has also gone in this battle for life. The drama has been renewed so we'll see if they explain the Joker. So far they have followed what the manga apparently did, but it's possible they could change things. The music makes the Joker ominous but I think all the characters we saw successfully return to life actually did.
FYI Eton College is one of, if not the, most famous English boarding schools for boys. It was founded in 1440 and 19 former UK prime ministers went there, as did Prince's William and Harry. So, it makes sense that all of the Bridgerton boys would have attended, given how wealthy and prestigious their family is. It probably means we won't see much of Gregory for the next couple of seasons, because he'll be away at school.
Portia was worried, Colin ruined her and then will NOT marry her. because it's not about money... Lord Debling might be rich but for a third son, Colin is richer than any titled lord out there. The Bridgertons are like multi billionaires.
I know it is not their season but I get a massive serotonin hit every time Kate and Anthony pop up on screen being too beautiful and happy together! Loved that they followed up the Polin steamy carriage scene with the mirror one, but it feels like there is WAY too much stuffed into this episode. It overshadows the momentum that has building as well as fixing Peneloise - seriously, midnight on her engagement ball? How much time has passed?
I think in this time period engagements aren't as rushed as Colin so a party would happen fairly quickly! Also I see why it would seem stuffed, but i think it is very intentional. Atleast for me, it recreated the anxiety Pen was feeling and had me feeling stressedddd. I think the big issue with the show is that it definitely needs 10 episodes. Especially this season!
It was her son’s wife and unborn child who died at the beginning of the show. The child would have been the only LEGITIMATE HEIR because they were married. Her other children, the men at least, have had other children but because they weren’t married to the women who had their children, the children were ILLEGITIMATE and therefore can’t be the heir to throne. Queen Charlotte’s concern is that the royal line will end if there is no LEGITIMATE HEIR to pass on their bloodline. I think that’s why she is so hard on her children because she sacrificed marrying a man who she didn’t know and had 15 children with him in order to continue this bloodline that their children have failed to continue.
I thought the same thing about the whistledown being printed immediately after! I have to constantly remind myself that the characters dont see everything we see, therefore they have a lot less to be suspicious about lol. I think Pen wrote it that quickly because there were servants in the carriage/house, therefore its feasible that the news traveled quickly. For all anyone knows lady whistledown could have nothing else to do but collect news about others and print it as fast as possible. Its also happened in pervious seasons where whistledown prints big news faster than anyone else, so to them this is just normal WD behaviour lol. Also Colin is not suspicious about that partly because he thinks Pen is being off because she is unsure about him. Again, if you think about it from his point of view, up until now he has gotten no reassurance she is feeling the same way as him. He has multiple times reassured her about his feelings for her, while all she has said up until now is that she wants to be more than friends. He doesnt know that she has felt this way forever, and is at his core a very insecure character. This is demonstrated many times, and i love that they took this route! Its usually always the woman who is unsure about the man's feelings, and here we see the flip side of this. She gets to hear everything she has ever wanted, and doesnt realize that he is stressingggg about her not feeling things as strongly as him. Im currently rewatching with largely his POV in mind, and he is truly just a lover boy with big insecurities. He kind of reminds me of Peeta from the hunger games! People HATED peeta in the beginning, and I cant wait for the tides to turn on people's opinions of him when they realize that he is a very complex character with a big heart! Love ur reactions!!!
You explained it throughly Colin is such a complex and emotional baby boy. He’s a proper lover boy and I wish people could understand the balance between pen and Colin. For everything each of them did that wasn’t really liked by the viewers, something made up for it Pen loving Colin for the longest time and obviously believing Colin would never love her (and yes I agree Colin didn’t have to grovel more than he already did because it wasn’t his fault that he was unaware) and then Colin turning out to be the one insecure about her feelings for him… that’s our balance and it’s such great writing Colin hurt her when he said what he said at the end of the season and she equally did wrong by mentioning Colin in her sheets in the first episode like she did… Pen did so so wrong by keeping that from him because Colin bared himself and his soul to her before he touched her… he had no secrets as of then and he asked for consent for everything they did! It hurt him that she was keeping this huge secret when they became intimate and we can clearly see how very intimate those two lover idiots can be😂😂😂 Colin’s entrapment was sort of a balance for that wrong and not in a weird way but in a way that should make people understand that neither Colin nor pen have anything else to apologise for by the end of the season. Their imperfections were shown and their insecurities were shown and they both made up for whatever wrong they did into each other in some way… btw that entrapment line did not bother me, I didn’t even feel anyway about it but it bothered a lot of people lol and I wonder why people can’t see that Colin was basically scared and hurt and he was just a lover boy who was in love. Anthony and Simon did wayyyy worse things and they were forgiven lol At the end, Colin and pen realised how perfect they are together because neither of them have to hide their uniqueness. Pen stopped being a wallflower, she got all the love and happiness she craved for. Colin loves her for who she is and is her biggest supporter.. Her relationship with her family healed and with her best friend. She became a bridgerton but also had the closeness of the featherigtons … Colin on the other hand, got everything he wanted which was a purpose which is in his writing and in loving pen(he gets to have two lol) pen loves him exactly for who he is… all those qualities he tried to hide that were deemed unmanly by society are exactly why pen loves him… he’s kind, feeling, very emotion and sensitive and an empath. He’s a lover lover lover boy lol and that’s exactly what pen wants I love their love story and i never for once stopped feeling their love for each other even in the time of anger…. It’s amazing how far they both come in the space of 8 episodes Epic writing!!!!
Yeah it would be scandalous but the only thing that would really happen if anyone found out would be that the wedding would have to be moved sooner rather than later, basically they would have to get married at that point no matter what. But to them it wouldn’t matter bc they want to marry. I agree Colin made me love him even more with how defensive, loving and romantic he was with Pen. This episode was very drama filled.
Actresses and stage performers were lower class, looked down upon by society and many were poor. The wealthy ones were already wealthy beforehand or were composers/musicians sponsored by wealthy patrons like how the Queen favoured Mozart. (though I think he died poor too?).

I went back and rewatched their scenes in s1 and 2 and there is definitely buildup it’s subtle the way he looks at her especially during the purpose scene and when he comes back during his travels. Also because the actors have talked about planting the seeds in earlier. Tbh I have always felt the chemistry but it was friendship chemistry and this season I felt the romantic. It felt very realistic because I had a similar situation happen to me lol and it’s like watching my relationship play out just less dramatic 😂
