Were the recordings made in times of Corona? Looks like Living in a Ghost Town. Okay, irony off. I am aware that Mexico was the only country of almost 200 on earth, apart from Sweden, that consistently refused to participate in the pandemanaic coronoia. And hats off for that! Mexico has thus become the torchbearer of freedom, while in Sweden the light of common sense is apparently also in the process of being extinguished. There is no other explanation for this previously neutral country suddenly joining NATO. It is also the country with the most electronic surveillance and will soon be abolishing cash. But why are the streets in these recordings so deserted? You could say they are devoid of living creatures. You don't even see street dogs anymore. Or is it siesta time? But then there could be at least some people in bars and cafés, as we know it from southern Europe. Or was this part of the Arte de Vivir not imported during Spanish colonization? Or is the whole thing filmed with American eyes, according to the old law of nature "What we know, we love"? Clean suburbs without loitering street dogs or even loitering people, where people only wave to each other in their rolling tin cans and meet at arranged barbecues, are the epitome of American security, closely followed by well-stocked shopping malls, aren't they? Just a question from a northern European who once got to know the USA in its better days, but never Mexico. Otherwise, it would be nice to get some pictures of more lively parts of the city or country, in case other viewers feel the same way. In any case, I've heard a lot about lively markets and densely packed towns in Mexico. But that was more on the Yucatan and near the border with Guatemala, if I remember correctly. Just as a suggestion. In any case, I would be interested to get to know more about it. Thanks for this otherwise very informative video.

Mexican here, I just found you on RU-vid, I appreciate all your comments about my beautiful country, it is all true, mexicans enjoy life and family, there are still many problems as in any other country. I must confess it scares me a little that you are encouraging more americans to come here, I know there are many nice americans, and your community seems to be nice, unfortunately, many American immigrants are so rude and disrespecful with the people here, I invite you all, if willing to come, to reflect on if you have a single cell of racism or entitlement or superiority complex, please don't come, it is sad and offensive, and yes, mexicana are kind and welcoming, but not stupid, so be kind and willing to become part of the community, respecting the culture. It is hot and loud, filled with brown people, we mexicans come in all sort of skin color, but mostly brown, again, if you cant gracefully handle that, stay there, but if you have understood that we are all humans and deserve respect, then welcome. And yes, learn some spanish and there are way better coffee shops than Starbucks. :)
@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels 2 месяца назад
Hola! Thank you very much for your comments! I totally agree with you with everything you are saying! In fact often times I say all of that and more in some of my videos reminding other gringos that come to Mexico that they must assimilate and respect Mexico and it's people. If they come with their attitude of entitlement they will not be welcome and that Mexico is now a very strong economic powerhouse and that they do not need to cater to rude Americans in order to make a buck. Things have changed and those who can not come to Mexico and respect it and it's people then they can simply stay home or go elsewhere. Trust me I don't want any of those entitled people out here either, even most Americans in the USA are tired of their behavior which is why so many Americans are moving to Mexico. it has more to do with a better quality of life and getting away from those toxic people than it does with cost of living. Thank you so much for your comment. I really do think we will be seeing less of those toxic Americans as more and more Mexicans push back on that horrible and disrespectful behavior! Que Viva Mexico!

Hola @marcela351 y Jose!!- I'm a mostly white American and I left the US to get away from the violence and in your face casual racism that now seems acceptable. We can all feel comfortable with the fact that a lot of Americans with that type attitude won't move to Mexico.....You want to know why? Too many Mexicans! @marcela3512
@marcela3512 2 месяца назад
@@davidsebastianelli1326 I hope you are right, I understand and appreciate how multicultural Mexico is, but I have seen these attitud, Im not speaking just based on the many tiktoks displayed online, the thing is, working immigrants are good for the country, if they pay taxes, retired ones, unless they are very kind, not really, gentrification is a big problem now, and the more americans live here, the prices will increase, mexicans would have a hard time keeping up and americans, or immigrants in general, would end up having an expensive life here. I like americans, I even have family there, but I do believe there must be an attitude of respect and preserve the culture and the people as they are, just like Jose stated in some of his videos. I would love to talk more about this, so if you and whoever you are here with , ever come to CDMX, I'd be more than happy to invite you some coffee and have a nice chat, become friends and fix the world together, ha ha ha. Blessings. :)

@@thomasfranco5997 I can imagine. I've heard not only the jokes. I was studying in Canada, I am Mexican but I do not look very "typical", people often say I am Brazilian or Egyptian, and we had a big conference with students from the US, UK and other countries. At the end, we all went for beers and I walk into a group of students listening to this other guy telling them how much fun he has on his free time shooting Mexicans in the desert, how funny they run, you can even make them jump, the Israeli students nodding... I felt such anger go up my gut and make a knot in my eyes and throat. After a few seconds, some of my friends there were just staring at me. I honestly cannot remember what exactly I said, but it surely included their lack of mother and humanity, and the guy just replied: Relax, I do it with a paint ball gun. (!!!!) Still, when I remember this, I get angry and wish I had punched him in the jaw. Ah... but beaches and tacos, that they like. As the old saying goes quoting a any foreigner when they first come (more likely paraphrasing): The only problem with Mexico is that it is full of Mexicans. I just want to say, I am not against foreigners or migrants, my own family has foreigners. I am just really against how historically and constantly (take a look at whatever was happening in the decade of your choice) other cultures come and want to tell Mexicans how to stop being who they are and "improve" or... just want to get rid of them. Zero integration or even curiosity about how we live. It is such a colonial given that for whatever reason, you are justified to blame Mexicans or Mexico.

Mexicos gdp per capita was 9500 in 2018 and now is 15,250 according to IMF April 2024, that’s a huge growth, poverty is going down too according to coneval, I agree, I’m mexican and things are changing. Currently Mexico has a higher gdp per capita and gdp per capita PPP (purchasing power parity) than South Korea in 2003, clearly Mexico is closer to the first world than to the third world, but there’s still a long way to do if we want to be a fully developed nation. Kudos on the direction you have recently taken. As a Mexican living in the US--for a couple of decades--but soon to be returning home, I can attest to the truth of your description of life in the US and in Mexico. You seem to also have been paying attention while living in Mexico, for you nailed the Mexican psyche as well. We really do live by the axiom that says "be nice until it's time to not be nice". I personally love the one that says "walk softly but carry a big stick". 😏 Anyway, I enjoy your videos a lot and I like that you are able to speak on broader terms about the culture of both countries, something that not everyone is able to do or is even knowledgeable about. ¡Saludos y enhorabuena, hermano!

Honestly I would still take that advice and don't get too comfortable with safety from petty crime in Mexico until you are more familiarized with your surroundings. It is always smart to practice general safety and situational awareness. Guadalajara is a major city and just like any major city in the world crimes of opportunity can and will happen. Even if you are in a very safe city such as Merida if you make it easy for them to steal your stuff then they will.

One thing I don't hear you talk about a lot is how much it helps to speak Spanish in Mexico. I know you were fluent when you moved. Mexico has the lowest percentage of English speaking population in all of Latin America. Unless you just want to live in an expat ghetto, you gotta learn Spanish. And it's not easy for most of us. Mexicans are kind though, if you speak a little, they seem to appreciate it. So if you're considering the move, start learning now is my best advice.

Mexico often gets a bad reputation, or a bad outdated image, but this is mainly because of a lack of accurate information, or a bad foreign press, fake news, prejudice, or even because of many of Hollywood's films and their own distorted portrayal of Mexico, in many movies and even in cartoons such as Speedy Gonzalez. At times it could be just plain ignorance. It's like thinking everyone in Texas wears a cowboy hat, of course that is not quite the case, and Texas has modern cities with cars, so those old Southwestern cowboy images of the state are not always correct. Such is the case with any other place. Yes, it is true that Mexico is still a developing country, but today it is way more modern than many people on the outside may happen to know. Mexico today is well on its way to becoming a "first world" country. It will surely become a developed wealthy nation by the end of this century, or even in just a few short decades. See it for yourself. Venture beyond the border towns of old Mexico far into the interior and explore the better parts as well. Travel the world. No fear.

Train L3 in guadalajara. There is a similar train in honolulu. Except Hawaii cant seem to finish its train. The honolulu train is taking 4 times as long to build and will costs 10 times as much. Very similiar trains. I tell everybody who will listen back in honolulu. Also medical care is better, traffic is better, lots of things better in guadalajara than honolulu.

i've asked that to many Mexicans in my years out here in Mexico and the answers vary. For the most part they just see it as they are leaving to go make some money and come back home to build a better future for themselves and their families. Only recently are they figuring out that the US is not the land of milk and honey anymore. I highly suggest you ask other Mexicans yourself while you are out here. It is a great conversation starter and I'm sure you will be surprised by their varied answers.

You can be specifically targeted, and youll definitely get jacked up This is why gringos actually feel safer in MX. Then you get a noob who says "what about TJ!?" I just moved to Guadalajara a month ago after 7 years in Puerto Vallarta. Firstly, I LOVE it here. The climate is, so much better without the humidity. You are right Guadalajara/Zapopan is a very modern city with everything you need or want, it reminds me of Vancouver in Canada (without the rain 😂). Where I've decided to live, I found the prices in my neighborhood to be higher than Puerto Vallarta (most notably rent, restaurants but even garrafones, are almost double). However, I chose to live in the one of the most sought out areas in the city. While house hunting, I stayed in an Airbnb for two weeks in another area and the costs were better as it was a regular working class neighborhood.

@expatspanish
@expatspanish 2 месяца назад

Hello Jose, Guadalajara, Is a great city I'm glad you and Christian enjoyed your trip there!! Next time your around Guadalajara go south to Lake Chapala and the different towns around the lake. Ajjic is the best known town also the most expensive. Chapala and some of the other smaller towns nearby are 15 to 20% cheaper than Aijjic!! Been there twice climate is perfect all year round it is about 5, 200 to 5,300 feet above sea level nice at night no real hot, hot, hot seasons mostly Spring like most of the year with a slightly hotter summer time humidity is quite low even in summer time recommend it highly. If you want the beach if I remember PV Puerto Vallarta is bout 3 hours north of Guadalajara. Mild in winter very hot and humid in summer. If you want less of the city vibe go north on the coast into the state of Nayarit and go to any of the small beach towns north of PV very quiet not overcrowded!! Either north or south of Guadalajara you will find to be worlds unto themselves GREAT JOB as Usual Brother!! A. from Queretaro!!

It always has been Beautiful and so much Greenery. I have a niece who went back in February 2024 with her boyfriend who has family living there and she loved it. She wants to go back again and that was her first time in Mexico. You are correct, it is very modern now. I have seen some of the homes for sale there and they are Modern and Beautiful. The pools are also amazing I give my props. to the Builders and Designers there. I know there are over one million Americans who have moved to Mexico. I have a couple of neighbors who have sold their house here in Los Angeles, California and moved to Cabo and Puerto Vallarta. I am looking for a Vacation Home in GDL. Hi Jose, great video! I just want to mention the American GIs that are stationed overseas. Coming from a military city like San Antonio it is very common to have neighbors that are retired military and married to women that they met while stationed overseas. If you ever visit a military base like Fort Sam Houston and Lakeland AFB you will notice many foreign women working at the commissary, gas stations, and base exchange. Most if not all of those women are married to GIs. American servicemen have known about finding love overseas decades before it became a trend. Viva Mexico!

Malls in the US are empty because of Amazon and same day, next day delivery, and nobody wants to go to the mall. Building code standards in Mexico are so shoddy and nearly non existent. I'm in La Paz, right now, and I think it's great, but there are many things that are lacking. Last year I paid 9,000 pesos / month, but this year I found an even more affordable apartment through a friend of a friend. Less than 4,000 pesos including water, electric, and 100 mb WIFI (I added) .

We have Amazon here in Mexico as well alongside Temu and other Asian counterparts plus Mercado Libre and people use them all the time alongside going to the stores/malls. Super cool you found some amazing affordable housing! Hi, I am from Guadalajara, México, and I feel honored about your perception of my country. That Plaza (Plaza Patria) I guess is the third or probably the second oldest in my city, the oldest one is Plaza del Sol, for sure, and I do not know if Plaza México was the second or if Plaza Patria was. And yes, at the begining it was the concept of a Plaza around a Cinema. With the time the Cinemas were that profitable that they abandoned Plaza Patria and they started to do "Multicinemas" wich consisted of 6 to 8 "Salas" (Cinemas Rooms) at the same place at the same time, so you were able to chose betwen 6 to 8 different movies, it was crazy. I desagree a little bit with you about México being like first world right now, because some places like China, like Japan, like Austria, Turkey or Australia looks more modern and cleaner than many Mexico´s cities to me. But I hope in not many years from now, we can be something alike.

Historically is Mexico going through great change in terms of economic growth due to positive or negative investment in local areas and main cities. Does that make it harder though for the people of Mexico or is it the currency exchange that makes Mexico appealing over all with everything you need and most importantly the night life is strong with local businesses which is important for the locals. Hoping I’m correct assuming this. What do you think.
@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels Месяц назад
Great question! I've actually answered this in previous videos and livestreams. Long story short Mexicans are making more money so they can spend more money. Even though prices are increasing, their salaries are increasing more. As the peso gets stronger, so does their spending power. So Mexico as of now is heading in the right direction. A country like the USA is going in the opposite direction.

You never have a situation in Mexico or in any other latin country, where the police opens fire on an innocent unarmed person. I am currently in Guatemala, and lived in Costa Rica before that. I had never see the police pulling a gun on anyone. The police have entirely different attitudes. You can approach the police, you can say hello to them (in fact I just did that today and got back a greeting). You can even reason with them. In costa Rica, the police used to come and drink with us on their day off. I am friends with at least 3 current and former officers.

That is very true. It still baffles my mind how people in the USA think it is ok for the police to act the way that they do on a daily basis. Most police around the world no matter how bad or corrupt they are never act as violently as they do in the USA. Thanks for sharing

There are other ways for you to get residency. Look up the Regularization program...You can easily live here and do the border runs every 180 days. I have freinds who are a couple who did that for a few years and the people who they would regularly see while getting a new FMM said to see a lawyer with their years of border runs they easily prove they have the financial means to live here. They got ok'd and are now residents living on under $1200us from social security...Ask a lawyer if they could get you residency and are familliar with the Immigartion Law- Section2, Article 54, Clause 3 that basically says if you can afford to live here you can get residency. Considering if your household in Mexico has over $1340us per month income then you are consudered middle class. Buena suerte!

You can still qualify for residency as the David who is responding to your comments mentioned. You can watch this video where a Mexican Lawyer explains it further ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XH9lxrAehSU.html

I am Mexican living in the USA since I was 5. I love visiting Mexico but I love the USA with all its problems. This country gave my family so many opportunities when Mexico wasn’t able to. For now, I will continue to visit and enjoy beautiful Mexico.

Well, the shoe is on the other foot now, isn't it? I'm glad for Mexico, truly, but saddened beyond belief for my homeland, because it isn't home anymore; I just live here until I can get away. But a home is it's people and the people here have changed. The generations that built the nation and had a hardy independence and a more or less tolerant attitude have gown old and died. Their kids, well, some of them are close to their parents, but more went to University and drank the koolaid and adopted some absolutely poisonous doctrines. And the kids of THOSE kids are mostly beyond saving....they know nothing except the fact that they will never own property, that women hate them or that men are the problem, have had everything given to them except the ability to look after themselves and they are angry and disaffected and I don't blame them in that. This began decades ago. I remember when I first encountered the attitude that would become dominant: I was 8, and forced to see a school counsellor for something, can't remember why...probably some trouble I got into. She looked at me like I was a filthy little beast and asked if I had fantasies about girls. I shyly admitted that I did and she said, "I SUPPOSE that's normal." with a look of disgust. But my thoughts were about being a hero and rescuing some girl I liked and we ran off and faced the world (somehow) together...romantic nonsense. I know what SHE thought, however and that attitude, that hatred and fear of the masculine became the dominant religion. Later it merged with critical race theory and a kind of neo-communism to form a toxic brew perfect for the job it was intended: the destruction of the society it infected, the only society that would tolerate these people. So they will be the first victims of the new regime when it fully takes power. That's the first rule of revolutions, after all: eliminate those that helped you get into power, because if they can did it FOR you, they can do it TO you. Part of me would pay good money to watch that, but it's an unworthy part of me, the part that holds on to grudges, rather than the part that accepts the wheel of history and moves on in a different place. I go on too long, I'm sorry but it makes me bitter. All of the chattering class and the folks that call themselves journalists...it's even infected judges and of course, the universities have been the original source of the infection since shortly after the war. So now the people that inhabit the West are as follows: Grifters and predators that use these movements for their own advancement, the useful idiots that like the attention or have the best intentions, but whose thought patterns are about an inch deep, the cowards that fill the ranks of government and academia not yet turned and the silent and powerless majority, many of who are only now waking up...but it's much, too late. Viva Mexico.

I live in Playa Del Carmen and I must say, that Mexican people are very hospitable and nice. Now with that being said you still must watch your bill when buying anything, especially in restaurants and taxis. The infrastructure needs a ton of improvement.

Mexico in general varies because there are plenty of places where there is no desire to be in and there are also very desirable. There are people that don't make enough money for first world conforts and there are also many people who make money for conforts. There is no need to say Mexico is horrible unless you believe the propaganda or want law and order like the USA
