In the "Case of the Crimson Pulse", you would indeed draw three cards. There's no mention of skipping your draw step and you proceed to your draw step at the end of your upkeep. Break out feels like how Domri Rade felt when that planeswalker first came out. Stick four of these in a creature feature and it seems pretty good.

T0 - leyline of the guildpact. Play only forests in your deck. T1 - Cacophony scamp T2 - Monstrous Rage + Gaeas Might = 18 dmg :) With felonious rage instead of monstrous rage that would be 16 but you`ll have a 2/2 body to swing next turn to finish it up :)

Bloodthirsty adversary + break out is a nice way to rebuild after sweeper :)

Case of the Gateway Express doesn't even need go-wide to be lethal if you have deathtouch, or what about deathtouch in the command zone?... Like... Say... Alela. Lol. Yeah, it's really good there.

thank you very much for your analysis, especially in the case of Felonius Rage, your point of view opened my mind, it's a 2/2 for only 1 mana and all the Extra that means the combat trick itself.

Felonious rage picnic ruiner let's go baby! Do you have a deck with elvish archivist? Such a cool card but 2mana 0/1 is little rough to build around.

I got Case of the Gateway Express in my limited draft, first game I used it and solved in one turn like you said, amazing card!

I'm stoked about Insidious Roots. I've been brewing with it since it was spoiled. There are a ton of different ways to enable it. I've been working on a build that has a minor Descend sub-theme as well. Probably not super competitive but it's definitely fun. Willow Geist is a nice find! Totally forgot about that dude.

I think insidious roots will go especially hard with the Rubblebelt Maverick from the new set. 1 mana creature, surveil 2 on etb. Pay one green to exile it from your grave to put a counter on a creature. Pair it with unearth like you said... this card will break standard.

I really want to try the gleaming geardrake in my pirate/artifact deck, it can trigger captain storm twice, it grows with treasures/map tokens and it dodges go for the throat! I am not convinced that the case of the filched falcon will be a good card, it sounds like a worse zoetic glyph, but then again you could run both in the same deck and get a 9/8 creature with flying... I also think that case of the crimson pulse may be too slow for most aggro decks, we already have discard draws that cost 2 mana and on turn 3 you usually want to keep pressuring the opponent with creatures and combat spells. I think it could be fun in rakdos with graveyard interaction

6:00 My first thought was: "Dreadknight is going to be so good with this card". I haven't heard anyone else mention it, am I missing a mechanic, because to me the synergy with card draw, getting tokens, buffing tokens, getting the dreadknight back on the board, it dying, getting played again etc etc seens pretty darned strong...

I think when you evaluate cards, you focus too much on the ceiling of the card, when in constructed the worst case scenario for the card matters a lot in most decks.

i was really looking forward to the drake once i saw him but sadly izzet mana in standard is lacking a little. theres onedrops in both colors that make an artifact on etb tho so theres probably at least a rogue deck with them out there somewhere

At no time have i seen anyone say insidious roots is not good

Content creators deliberately gaslight us into following “good” cards and never playing the “bad” cards. When in fact they hold their true strategies for themselves, thus ranking to mythic quickly and having enough content per release to make. Not sure if you agree Mike, but just my 2cents after watching so many videos on “good” and “bad” cards. I remember so many people said Get Lost wouldn’t be played since it gave the opponent 2 map tokens. And they were either dead wrong and just plain lying. Either way, I’m so glad you tell it like it is with these cards and keep giving your community so much content, budget and non budget, helping us learn all the cards, and creating in unique decks for our selves. I can’t wait for your MKM decks 👍🏻
