I lost a brother to suicide because he feared becoming homeless, living in a tent etc. A good friend of mine lost his housing recently and just moved into his van. I volunteered to bring him coffee/food and hangout several times to “help” the transition. We’ve since worked out a deal that he comes over once a week and gets a shower, does laundry and we have dinner and he helps me out with stuff around the house. He parks in a safe lot nearby. Maintaining our friendship through these tough times is really benefiting us both and a real blessing. I couldn’t help my brother, I was too late, but I learned that I CAN do something to help someone going through it so that even though circumstances change they can retain their dignity and know they are seen and cared for no judge. Isn’t this really what we all want? Good friends who offer more than opinions? I may be doing what he’s doing in a few years and he will be a great resource in addition to a true friend. Let’s all get more local and community-minded.
Why didn't you allow your friend to live with you until he got back on is feet? That's the first thing that came to my mind, especially after your brother's suicide? How would you feel if the situation was reversed?
Especially how hot it is now a days. A shower once a week is good but it's HOT 🥵🔥 OUTSIDE. Maybe it's not her home or her living situation isn't suitable for the friend to stay until he/she get on their feet.@@user-lf2lf6wy4z

No joke, im willingly about to go homeless for a secondd time. Cost of living is way too high and i miss having freedom with my money. Paying $1,870/month just for a decent place to live is absurd. Back to living out of my work truck I go. These bills are holding me back and slowing down my long term goals.
The summer months are tough on 90+ days, i feel like its alot easier to stay warm than it is to stay cool . I guess that depends on your location too , 100 usually being the hottest and the coldest around 20 degrees where im at
Been homeless for almost 20 years. (No lie) I call it FREEDOM. No bills . It has gotten harder… I’m gonna be sixty in two weeks man where did the time go… much love
Hopefully you live in the south or out west, where I'm at I see the homeless people been out here for years but in the winter I don't see how they can take it. I wouldn't mind occasionally handing out a few dollars but I'm broke over child support and I'm staying somewhere that brakes me every month so I keep going in circles.
That's what I've been saying! This is a time to be "Conservative" in ones spending! And don't believe the lies about the economy doing great. Why so many layoffs, bankruptcies, snd store closings if things are so great?
I'm a 35 year old man who isn't married and doesn't have kids. I don't own a house, both my cars are 20 plus years old and paid off, never went to college and live by myself in a cheap but decent apartment. I just go to work and go home and save what I can. Ever since 2012 I knew that the economy was gonna get worse and plus I've seen friends and family struggle that have too many responsibilities. The American dream isn't worth it in this day and age in my opinion.
I’d probably do that, but I’m not sure if that would be a good idea. I don’t trust people these days. I had a female roommate once. It didn’t end well.
@@Knightrem she wanted to use my private computer. With my important work. I came from film school. She charged me $900 a month for her spare room in her 2 bedroom apartment. I stayed 8 weeks. So that’s $1800. With that money she could have easily bought her own pc. Or an iPhone 4. This was way back in 2011. Instead she wanted to take that rent money to renovate her apartment. She went crazy after establishing my own privacy and said no. Then I had to immediately find a new place to live. I could have ended up on the streets, all because of a girl who turned out to be a user. Never trusted a woman again. Especially a feminist. Women need to respect men. That’s the problem with today’s society. Egalitarianism has destroyed western men, and men have had it. If women want to be strong and independent, they can pay for themselves. If I ever let a woman live with me, she needs to be submissive and marriage material. And not have slept with different boys. That kind of woman today doesn’t exist anymore. And it’s sad. Because I know my true worth as a man. When women complain on social media about why they can’t find a good man… I just shrug. These same women probably used and turned away many gold men for a chad. That girl who I stayed with, she didn’t want me. It was just my turn. And I learned never to put myself in that position again!

We're being coralled into digital currency and cyber-life but the fact remains that you can't get a debit card without a physical address. I was homeless or have been a rolling stone for a long time. We live in a parasitic system and they'll squeeze until there's nothing left.
Nowadays you can tap to pay with several apps that provided prepaid debit so that's not really an excuse. Smart phones start at like 30$ for a cheap android at Walmart. P.o boxes aren't that expensive if you have a job and a car.

Decade ago I sat and visualized myself homeless just to see how I'd survive. If you know you're going to be homeless you need to IMMEDIATELY get a UPS address, so you can have a "resident address", there's also a PO Box loophole. You need to get a free government phone, or a cheap android phone then put it on a $10 plan or use it when near "free wifi". You need to go to a library throughout the day and sit in areas that aren't populated to draw attention, especially to stay warm in the winter. Get a cheap gym membership with showers before becoming homeless, if you have a car live in it, i'd sleep in well lit areas at walmart, or other places, use your car for gig work and work at an actual job, you need a street address to work, that's where UPS (mentioned earlier) comes in handy. Practice intermittent fasting, and eating once per day or alternate day fasting to eat every other day, this will train you to avoid hunger.

I am arguably the most prepared I can be. I live in a 28 ft travel trailer. I have always been interested in the tiny home movement. Last summer I bought a 1972 Holiday travler in solid condition but it had a leak in the back and needed a complete rehab of the plumbing and electrical. The front kitchen area was in usable condition. It was $1500. I completely replaced the finish flooring, rebuilt the back bedroom, new appliances, new plumbing, new electrical panel with added circuits for all the modern electronics, new toilet, new front couch. I am probably 5k into it now and still need to completely and professionally redo the roof. I patched the leaks and tarped it for now. I plan to do the roof next spring when I have the money. The trailer is parked on a family member’s property now hooked up to their electric and water. They allowed me to install the proper electrical outlet on their house myself and I give them money towards the bill. Well water is free so I don’t have to pay for water. My mail goes to the PO Box associated with the address of the house and it is also my legal address for license, registration, work, etc. even though I live in an RV I don’t consider myself homeless because I have a permanent address and I’m connected to services like electricity, water, internet, etc. it’s just a tiny home to me. Obviously I own the RV outright and if something should happen where I need to move it I can move everything I own for the cost of a U-Haul rental. I live in the state of insanity, I mean New York where everything is stupidly expensive. I see no point in pissing money away in rent when I can own an RV and owe NOTHING to anyone. My housing expenses consist of an electric bill. You can’t beat that with a stick! Eventually I will buy a piece of land somewhere in Tennessee and park my RV there and build a deck and a carport type roof and at some point I will probably buy a newer RV or tiny home but if things continue the way they are going I will likely never have a classic sticks and bricks house and I’m ok with that if it means I can own what I’m living in, even if I might change the ground under it.
That's pretty much how wife and I want to live but have to buy some land in county, too many restrictions in the city. We own our property but it's actually wayy too small. And we want to have small game meat animals. And have a garden, can/preserve foods, and such. Because the economy truly sucks and I'm not very good with people... But I do have a 32' camper that I need to remodel also. I'm wanting to rip everything out of it to customize it. But it's at my mother's, about 45 minutes from where I live. Have to get my truck repaired here soon, and need to get a couple buildings built on my property first as soon as all this heat passes for the year. But I'm trying to think of how to lighten the weight of the camper. Thinking of putting in maybe pink foam insulation and covering with paint for the interior walls and possibly ceiling. And wiring recessed lights into the ceiling and there's a leak in a rear end corner I need to fix anyhow. But the kitchen sink and such, I'm going to have to I guess leave as is. But I'm thinking solar panels for electric. I don't want to have any bills what so ever. Because utility company owners are screwing their customers by raising costs. It's something that doesn't have to be raised. Only because they are greedy...

I work a job that was wearing me down among other life experiences and so I gave up on everything except working. I don't drive a vehicle today but have an apartment. It's a sacrifice I've made to afford cost of living today. If you're not lazy and live in a small town walking and biking is a great way to save money and stay in good shape.
I might live off my bike, and use my local bike path to go from town to town, since I can teach breaking, and do performances to make a little cash on the side. Even though I love having AC and having a nice place to relax at the end of the day, I still hate paying rent.

trouble is- in the future- what is accessible to the homeless now- will be gone.... most retailers will be history- resources and provisions will be scarce and people will be desperate- no this won't be a recession or depression- it is going to be far far worse- plan carefully. even in the best of times in America- we are all one serious health issue away from homelessness and bankruptcy - with the exception of the privileged.... now the horizon is on another level... and sadly those responsible for this will remain comfy.

He is controller of every spirit, good and and the ones turned bad. He is in full control. I trust god and he has removed my worries and I'm standing in his supernatural peace. I will not walk in fear but in the love of the Lord. God bless you all as well❤
Right on my friend, had painting business in calif.worked hard for many years,I needed to save money,to finish my retirment home,in the caribbean, the only way i could ,push the project was to live in my safari van for12 years.not fun but i needed to make a final effort to get out of Calif..I would sleep in the motel parking lots, had 4 motels i would rotate in,so i would not attract attention.enter about 8.oopm leave 5.30 am. Central calif. Coast.I could have afforded a nice apt.in avila bch.was my own choice to live like that.faith in Christ saw me through.the worst part is not the living. Conditions, but it is the public humiliation, and the embarrisment you feel from friends and new aqaintances.
Maybe try to help people or protest governments that make people poor instead of telling others what to do . When’s the best time to have a kid never ? World has always been poor and Great Depressions. The reason we have this bs is from Not enough youth that’s because they were aborted 40 years ago because of Same bs mindset which would have benefited everyone here even retirement and wages lol.
You don't need a job. You just need a way to get money. Find odd jobs or start your own small business. I prep as if I am going camping. Get the basics. A sleeping bag, food, water. My uncle, when he was wanting to move out of his parents house, lived in his truck at a campground.
2008 recession really blindsided me, I was going through a divorce and in the process of losing my paid for house. I ended up renting a room for three and a half years and lived in my work truck for 4 months. There was little work in my area for carpenters. It was a really tough time and things didn't really pick up till the summer of 2015 . I'm back on my feet and I'm better prepared for the next recession.
Shiiiit I’ve been living in my car since the beginning of January this year, and it’s easy yet sometimes it gets old. (Not my first time being homeless unfortunately) Your home is what you make of it tho 💯 I do have a job, and plan to relocate/cop a passport!! *(Stay safe everyone)*
I actually had a dream about something like that, and the best thing we can do is pray to God that it doesn't happen Some CAN'T afford to be homeless because some with certain medical conditions CAN'T be without shelter
Start your land search now, it took me 5 yrs of looking to find the right pc for the right price. Find a parcel far enough out where there are no restrictions and or zoning so you can do whatever you want without regulations.
Hi there, I am new to the channel and this is a timely video as I have recently been looking in to buying a larger car (SUV) to live in. I have a good job and have had this job for over 20 years but I have never felt totally comfortable to the point where this topic doesn’t come across my mind, particularly during economic downturns; and now we have this terrible economy. I like many of you know what is coming next, and that is mass lay-offs across all sectors and that knowledge demands that you prepare…NOW!
I have one more advice to add. If you are working remotely on the company laptop or even the one in the office and you are saving personal files in it make sure to back it up because the day they lay you off they just shut down your access. Personal files like photos, statements, etc. If possible get another laptop and move all your personal files from the company computer. A less expensive option is buy a portable hard drive with a lot of memory and move all your personal stuff in there.
Brother, you have made some valid points. However, I would think when it comes to family it should be vice versa. They should also know if anything happens to them we need to look out for each other. As far as a van is concerned, Im gonna start looking for one NOW! God bless you and thank you for taking the time. Don't forget to do the second half of this video. 🙏
Your wide variety of friends and family will face the enviable....broke, no car, homeless with over $20,000. In debt. The middle class will fall harder than the poor class.
This is still the playing out of 2008, they kicked the can until it became an anvil. I went to college, I'm 44 and am preparing for homelessness. I see the homeless increase around me every day.
When I got laid off in 2010, I started a one-man business cleaning short sale homes. It was hard work but I treated it like job. I was on the job the same time every day, took a 30 min. lunch just like a regular job and kept a daily schedule. It worked out and helped me get through a very tough time. By the way, I have Ph.D. but I was and am grateful that God gave me the strength to do that kind of work because I was in my early 50s. I would do it again if I had to. I worked as a janitor and got through school doing manual labor.
Good on you Mr. David for making it work!!!! I’ve learned through some documentaries that many people with advanced degrees are homeless and on tough times.. I have a Master’s in Education and had to spend some time in my car too ~ I fell ill a year after graduating, couldn’t work and had no family or friend support ~ To be honest, it was a refreshing change, I’m not advocating for car living, but I got some of the best sleep ever!!!
@@Brandy3319 Thanks for the response. I hope you are doing better now. I wish you all the best in life. Yes. A degree doesn't ensure that we get a job, it only gives us some more choices. I brought a little suv just in case I have to live in it as well. I hope I don't have to but it certainly beats a tent.
Brother Andrew your tips are great, i was thinkingbof a rv van with oitchen, living room ,bathroom. I have to save more money. Your space innyour home looks nice with the brick look. We all are saving more, spending less, we pray in CHRIST name we won't be homeless !🙏🏽
Usually in an economy that is difficult , people wake up, stop using credit ( even that will be less without warning ) , there's long lines in bankruptcy court to file the right type of bankruptcy. Bankruptcy can save what you can afford and the bills you can not pay will be wiped put . Taxes will still be due .. get in line now for bankruptcy. Protection starts when filef and court finishes it . But if you wait , you will stay under the stress .. you don't have to stay in bondage.
God didnt give us the spirit of fesr but of power and love. As long as i can keep a roof over my head in the name of jesus im going to keep one. Me and my son have combined our Trucker incomes to save and make it i have my suv which is paid off. Peoples jobs are not matching the cost of living. Band together if you can
Really when you think about it we should all deserve a piece of land for free that we can have a home on. Paying to have a place on this earth is crazy in my opinion
that is soo nuts how having college certs in this day and age only grants grads a double-digit hourly wage and not a career salary, cept for high level hospital or legal-type jobs. hope everyone finds their way in this craziness
It's scary being all alone and on the streets with no one to call. no family, friends or anyone who cares - choices really do come with consequences. gee, I thought they were just kidding bout that
I remember telling my mother this while I was in tears. I ended up on the street, and I broke down and called her. I told her I don't have any friends to call, because I thought I was doing right by not having any friends, friends cost money and they have you in situations you wouldn't ordinarily be in and they bring drama that you don't need around you. As long as you have a steady job, a place to live and a little money in the bank, that plan works out very well for you. But the downside to that is, when you hit hard times like I did, you won't have anybody to call.
I live in Europe. We are fine. Even if we lost our jobs the state will take care of us. We have absolutly free healthcare and we are not dependent on car every day. Now I am on a vacation on the south of France, because we have 5-6 weeks of paid vacation in Europe.

The problem with living in a van or car is where to go to sleep. Where I live here in California if your homeless and live in your van where ever you go they will run you off .
Please read my comments above. I have lived in a bus, and RV, a motor home, station wagon, large sedan and now a subcompact. I have NEVER been stopped living in a sub compact. I can also push it to start and it is easy to get unstuck when in the snow, water or mud.
