It made sense to round up the speed and handling stats, but Luigi has a better mix 😂
My question now is if the mix is better or only a high Mini turbo stat with the mix. By playing Luigi GLA you lose now every turn 0.5 Speed after releasing mts against the yoshis.
@@seb_mk8dx While Yoshi has +0.25 mini turbo, he has -0.5 weight. You can use the Gold Glider to make up for this deficit. Of course you can use Yoshi with the paper glider, but if the meta shifts to heavier builds, you'll be getting bumped alot. That +0.25 mini turbo is not as worth while in scramble situations as the +0.5 weight. But really, these are very minor differences, you could use any of these combos and do well. EDIT: If you REALLY want to keep the extra turbo without being 0.5 lighter than the meta, use Bowser Glider. You get the extra mini turbo while being only 0.25 lighter than the meta, very much a reasonable trade
As much as I like the neat visuals you made for the stats, I'm not a fan of rounding them up. Seems a bit misleading since a person might get confused as to why they're not reaching the same stats in-game compared to the video.
I see where you are coming from with balancing speed/accel while having the mini-turbo. But if this invincibility is so important and for Yoshi you said the Gold Glider was essential, why not also use Gold Glider for Luigi. I'm just not sold on this seeing as the Gold Glider provides further invincibility (0.25) while increasing speed in both ground (0.25) and air (0.25) which IMO are more often than water (0.25) for the paper glider sets. Yes you will loose acceleration (0.25) but for the additional weight (0.50) which you already justified for the Yoshi combo to help rebalance those stats. Maybe this and the impact of the extra weight compared to the other changes could be covered more clearly in a future episode?
If anyone is wondering exactly what the difference between Yoshi and Luigi on both teddy with gla tires (Luigi has paper glider while Yoshi has gold glider), Yoshi sacrifices 0.5 water speed, 0.25 anti-grav speed, 0.25 anti-grav handling, and 0.25 air handling. Yoshi then gains 0.25 water handling, 0.25 traction, and 0.25 invincibility.

@@Fa1cono think it's just how the meta evolved really. People try using what other people are using, until eventually everyone starts sticking to the best combo they find. I don't think there was a set time the King Boo meta died (though it's still very viable, just be ready for having no invincibility)
Been using GLA tires ever since I saw the invincibility stat on mk8 builder, and it's honestly cheating being unaffected by offensive items with other top tier stats
Hint: You can also use cat cruiser as the kart to have the exact same stats as the teddybuggy. The teddybuggy is just a more popular pick because the teddybuggy is an Atv and the cat cruiser is a kart and atv's feels nicer for most people. I personally liked the cat cruiser more before, and while I still do like the cat criuser, I am starting to like the teddybuggy more. There is also the Yoshi bike and the comet for people that prefer inside drift bikes. They have the same stats as teddybuggy and cat cruiser, other than the fact that the 2 inward drift bikes have slightly less invincibility than the teddybuggy and cat cruiser. Most people seem to use the yoshi bike when it comes to inward drift bikes. So you've got 3 combos (1 for each type except for outward drft bikes) that you can choose that are equivalent statwise. It comes up to preference on which vehicle you would like to use. However, I think most people will use the teddybuggy.
Interesting to hear about this new best combo. I have been using the GLA tires for some of my combos like Dry Bones on the Mach 8 with standard glider. Also for anyone who doesn't have the gold glider, you can use Wario Wing, Plane Glider, or Paraglider since their stats are the same.
Normal paraglider has different stats, it is slightly less heavy, has slightly more water speed and slightly less anti grav speed. The wario wing and plane glider are exactly the same as you said.
@@mauroperez2848 if you’re talking about the “parafoil” and “mktv parafoil” then they also have completely different stats otherwise I have 0 idea what you’re trying to talk about, cause there’s nothing in the game called “paraglider”
I think with the invincibility argument, you also need to account for acceleration because it is vital for when u get hit and need to get back up to top speed. both yoshi, teddy, roller/gla have good acceleration but the roller variant is significantly better
tbh the new changes was like a breath of fresh air, after some time it was sort of annoying going online and seeing only Waluigi + Roller + wiggler. There was a ton more characters, and setups that feel like deserved some more spotlight. Though recently I found a setup that i've been using the most and seeing the most success with (of course it isnt the best, its just what feels the best to me) and its Shy Guy, Inkstriker, GLA Tires
I understand where you're coming from but giving up 0.5 MT for only 0.25 Speed is just brutal. Instead try taking that Yoshi combo and switching rollers for Leaf tires for significantly more i-frames than rollers and still gaining 0.25 land and 0.5 anti-grav speeds while only losing 0.25 MT. You can also switch inkstriker out for the stat-equivalent cars for a few more s if you want, though you'll have a bigger collision box
I almost everytime use the default (Standard) Kart with Mario, dude. He's gotta be one of the most popular and best combos to use in the game because it's also the MOST BALANCED combo
Its a shame GLA doesn't share invincibility with the Blue Standard but I had almost given up hope we would ever see balance patch for this game and we did so who knows what will happen by the final dlc. Very good breakdown JP 👌🏻

Not only am I a luigi fan but I used the teddy buggy before the wave 4 update simply bc I liked the way it looked so to see this in combination with the GLA tires become the best combo is like a fever dream!
The invincibility stat feels damn useless after 3 bars. I've had an issue with being mario karted due to piss poor luck the past few days and hoped that higher invincibility could alleviate that, but my current testing shows that the differences might be so miniscule that going out of your way to achieve anything 3+ on that stat is pointless.
I figured that the invincibility stat would be worth something when wave 3 came out. It just sadly introduced itself too early as the medium weights didn't have enough Speed and Mini-Turbo to utilize it. Of course with the wave 4 update, the invincibility stat may see a factor as an important stat. Who knows, future waves could improve on other stats to make sure the invincibility stat gains some usage.
Didn't you calculate the speed stat by taking the average speed on different terrain? If yes, that calculation is different from how other people have calculated this by focusing on ground speed, which is the most prevalent speed stat utilised in the game. If you really want to be fully accurate with your calculation, you'd also need to take into account which sorts of terrain are more frequent than others.
If we are just looking for Waluigi Wiggler-like builds, there are a ton of them. DK/Teddy/Rollers/Paper Rosa/Teddy/Rollers/Paper Daisy/Standard/GLA/Paper Rosa/Inkstriker/Rollers/Paper Rosa/Duke/Rollers/Paper So, in summary, yes, that's a good build. But if you want a build that just has similiar stats to Waluigi Wiggler, there aare a ton of options, making that not the "definitive" build.
I never actually thought about this. But Luigi Teddy Buggy GLA with the Gold Glider is actually surprisingly better than using Paper Glider. The reason why is because it maintains the same mini turbo as Waluigi Wiggler in which the mini turbo stat in essence is still the most balanced. But with Luigi on the Teddy Buggy with the Gold Glider, it has the highest increase of speed, weight and invincibility while still maintaining the same mini turbo as Waluigi Wiggler because of the mini turbo buff. Before the patch, it was impossible to have this much speed without sacrificing the right amount of mini turbo that made Waluigi Wiggler the best. That is why Luigi Teddy Buggy GLA with the Gold Glider is the absolute best
i tried this combo on the crossing cup(with Yoshi), and after i got hit by a red, there was a shock but i didn't slow down. it may be a good combo, but i still have yoshi teddy buggy azure rollers as my meta combo.
So I'm confused. On your stat viewer for Yoshi vs Luigi, it seems like the Yoshi build is simply even in everything, but better with traction and invincibility? Why not just use the Yoshi character class then? Edit: After further review of putting in Luigi/Teddy/GLA/Paper and Yoshi/Teddy/GLA/Gold into the stats viewer, I noticed a few things: 1) Luigi has a 0.5 speed advantage underwater 2) Luigi has a 0.25 speed advantage on antigrav 3) Yoshi has a 0.25 handling advantage underwater 4) Luigi has a 0.25 handling advantage on antigrav 5) Yoshi has a 0.25 traction advantage 6) Yoshi has a 0.25 invis advantage

@@Fletchronome it might’ve been because he used the golden glider, one with more speed than the paper, to compensate for the lack of speed, which he mentions to be the case later in the video, although I have not confirmed that the stats he showed match in-game yet. If that’s the case, and the stats he showed are correct, then I don’t know why you wouldn’t choose Yoshi then

One time I took on an entire Japanese 10K+ lobby on Tick Tock Clock. I was using my Mii character with the Captain Falcon amiibo suit with my Blue Falcon, Azure roller wheels and MKTV glider, half the other players were using the Waluigi/ Wild Wiggler meta setup, and my VR was somewhere around the 8900 and I single handedly dominated that entire room. True story. I even have the video saved on my switch.
What about the *Cushion* tires? Yeah, they’re BIG, but they have more Traction, Mini Turbo, and Invincibility (0.25 more than GLA). They also have more Air Speed. Their main weakness is a drop in Handling and Water Stats. Sponge has the same stats (and are smaller), but their Invincibility is the same as Standard.
cushion unfortunately just doesn't have good stats for online. the drop in water and ag speed and all-purpose handling is not worth losing the other benefits that gla or rollers have
Cushion actually has the same combined total of Antigravity Speed + Mini Turbo as Rollers and GLA. The only tires with 0.25 more in the total are Button/Leaf and Slim/Crimson Slim/Wood. Cushion has the edge at gliding, and tracks with slippery roads, as Traction also affects how much of your Top Speed is lost on those roads, not just the sliding effect. The Handling drop is generally a "meh" or combo killer for some people, though I will note that the parameters for Handling start to get diminishing returns per every 0.25 starting at 3.50. Then the gains decrease even more (Steering only) starting at 4.75. Ignoring Handling, Cushion loses to GLA by 0.25 Weight (which may or may not even matter when Weight is inconsistent in online lag) and 0.50 Water Speed. The Water stats are a hit, but in a game where you can swap builds between races, you could just swap to Rollers (as they're the best tires for Water) if a notable Water course shows up. Water Park, Twisted Mansion, and Boo Lake don't count as Antigravity stats takes priority over Water stats if both are present at the same time. There's like *7* mandatory water sections in the game as of now, and *3* of those seven are major, being Dolphin Shoals, Amsterdam Drift, and that one section of Dry Dry Desert. Other bits of water are usually very brief, or optional paths entirely (Wario Stadium, Donut Plains, Sherbet Land, ETC). Finally, one more note about Air Speed. It scales *faster* in the stat parameters than the other Speed stats. Normally it's a 0.025 increase. For Air Speed, it's 0.045. 0.25 Air Speed is nearly double in numerical value to 0.25 in the other Speed stats. Granted, gliding sections are generally brief. You can't charge Mini Turbos while gliding. You can only turbo off a glide ramp. Really the only time the Mini Turbo stat has a benefit during a glide is when you're able to trick off something, which is rare. Air Speed also doesn't change with Coins, and getting shrunk by Lightning doesn't slow it down.
@@Bayzer0191 traction is actually the most irrelevant stat in 150, and gla only has .25 less of it. it's basically the same thing in practice additionally, even though there aren't that many water tracks, some of them are picked quite often (dolphin shoals, Amsterdam, and rdp3 are very common in comp), so with cushion you're putting yourself at a real disadvantage on pretty common tracks. add that it's big, has the same acceleration, lower weight, lower speed in everything except for a small increase in air, and the fact that cushion has a unique property of being extremely bouncy when landing which can lose a lot of time in some sections, and it's all things that its extra miniturbo and invincibility don't really make up for. sponge fixes some of these problems but you lose the invincibility advantage as well
I have started using Yoshi on the Teddy Buggy with Cushion Wheels and the Cloud Glider. Thank you for this video, I never really paid the invincibility stat any notice until now.
I tried the GLA tires for the added speed and invincibility, but they can’t “steer” as much as the rollers. Like if you start drifting right and point the joystick to the opposite direction, the kart won’t move left enough. In that sense, the rollers’ “maneuverability” is significantly superior. That being said, their lack of speed is annoying so my combo is yoshi+teddy+roller+paraglider, the latter adds a bit of speed/weight/invincibility vs the classic paper glider.
As someone who's been both a Luigi fan & an Iggy main since pre-COVID, I genuinely enjoy seeing both of my boys thrust up to the spotlight of the meta. Granted, Iggy is outright inferior to Luigi, because of the blindspot in your rear-view camera caused by his hair.
I've cooked up a not so different combo, surprisingly Daisy, Comet, Standard, Super/Gold Glider Comet Standard share the sane stats as Teddy GLA And Super/Gold Glider counteracts the Speed loss I get for using Daisy
The new gla teddy buggy and paper is real meta for Mario Kart 8 deluxe start to notice that I’m getting more good placements in online is happy 😃 have if fun using it but really more with daisy and cat peach and birdo and yoshi and link and Luigi I think. This was a great video, but I will personally stick with the Instriker Rollers simply out because I like how it looks. I dont use Teddy Buggy because despite it being really good, I dknt really like how it looks.
My dad picked out the most absurd combo for me, and to my surprise it was really good. It was the inkling boy, a bike, the azure roller wheels and the animal crossing glider. To my surprise, i really enjoyed it. Definitely worth a shot
Ok when I first saw that video on IFrames I thought the difference was only 14 but seeing the 22 difference is what made me choose to switch What stopped me before was whenever I played Teddy I felt like my airtime when doing gap jumps was lower, like I was seriously struggling with Gorge jump and Dragon nisc, but I think I'm gonna try making the switch soon.
Yup when I first got back to mario kart (cus of dlc waves) I been using Daisy with Teddy + GLA (rollers felt overrated to me personally att 😅 but the balance it provided was good tho) Great to see that the combo got buff buffed 👍
Even though I’m not really into using the best kart in meta I always try to use a decent kart in meta. But since Luigi has become one of the best characters and he’s my favourite I might use it the only thing I don’t like about this kart is the tires they look so strange on the teddybuggy
Light characters are used a lot less online now because none of them really benefited from the wave 4 changes. But I’d have to guess biddybuggy/rollers is still what you’d wanna use.
Im personally rocking the 300 SL Roadster with GLA tires and med Mii. I call it the Benz combo. Pretty close to your combo except I sacrifice a bit of handling for aesthetics.
Compared to your combo, the Benz has slightly better ground speed, invincibility, and traction. This comes at the cost of slightly worse MT, acceleration, and handling. Worth it imo bc the Benz looks sick.
I think in terms of stats yoshi ink striker look better than Luigi gla , but personally I think yoshi teddy buggy was the best combo but I will try the gla on yoshi
