EVERYTHING ABOUT BUCKLES 

As my cousin and i began to do aggressive skating 96/97, he had the rollerblade tarmac and i had the boxer. At that time the buckle still werent up to the task ( f.e. no buckle protection) and they broke easily. As soon as they broke on our skates, we just used the so called power strips, which was an aftermarket item (standard on the tarmac) , to hold the skates on our feet. We were skating buckless the whole season with no issues or ankle related injuries and also were able to do jumps, over/topside ( f.e. fishbone), backslide grinds and other tricks. The skates were so loose, that we just slipped in to them like sneakers with open laces, maybe readjusted the power strips, and we were already ready to skate. Since then, im used to skate with a relatively loose buckle/ ankle support. Its very uncomfortable for me and im not able to skate propperly, if the buckle is "too" tight.

As someone who quad skates and decided they wanted to commute without dying, I AM LOST ON BUCKLES (but need to replace one). Thankyou for explaining! The standard mount thing was a bit beyond me, and I didn;t know what I was measuring or that I could use different brands.

For a minute there I thought you'd just uploaded a second video all about buckles 😭

Great video as usual. My question is about slippage. What causes my new skate's (Flying Eagle Ravens) boot to be tight when I put it on but significantly less tight after 20-30 minutes. Not loose as if there were a problem but not as tight as in the beginning. Would like to learn a solution for this. I'll definitely look into trimming the strap.
