Great recap. I personally also add in a thin foam insole between the soul plate and boot. Kinda like how Juan Mosqueda used to with the Yoga mat to get rid of any sort of squeak/rubbing between the soul and shell. All amazing recommendations and beautiful looking setup.

Instead of a razor you can also open the bearings with a bullin board pin or a straight needle. Safer, more exact and cheaper.

Great vid - I've been using that runners loop lacing for a year or two now. Total game changer on the 909. Works so well - never get heel lift.

I went to get some soccer shin guards the other day and I was overwhelmed by all the different sizes. Some seemed too small (like I could still easily hit my shin) and others seem too long (like they'd hit my skates). For that reason, I was going to try to get some Ennui ones, but I think I'm heading back to the sports store thanks to you 😆 Great informative entertaining video as always.

I really like cleaning tough scuffs with a razor blade. It just shaves off just a little material to reveal the original color underneath. Sometimes the magic eraser pushes around the scuff onto a larger surface area. So cutting the bulk off with a razor blade and then finishing with eraser works well

Great info I'm in the fence of trying to put together skates.

My bearing and skate cleaning process goes as the following: I extract my axles (powerslide one piece axles that screw into the other side of the frame) and my bearings and spacers Separate the shields, and run my bearings with about a 1:3 mean green solution in a ultrasonic cleaner. This breaks free any grime and oil. I run it through a bones bearing cleaning kit filled with 99% isp. I want the water to evaporate. I don't wanna dry my bearings by hand. While this is happening, my axles covered in grease are going through my cleaner. I let my bearings air dry before applying bones bearing speed cream and my shields. I spin em a bit and set them back in my wheels with my spacers. I run my axles through isp to displace the water and slot them in with my wheels. I notice bones bearing lubricant leaks out of the bearings because of how thin it is. I ride outside on a 4x80 flat setup and often on roads with lots of dirt, that dirt gets kicked up into my frames and sticks to the lubricant causing a lot of grime buildup. I don't like this, how do I prevent it? But yeah thats my bering cleaning process. I've had bearings last months of use with heavy weight (school bag and textbooks) and be fine. I was using wicked abec 9 bearings that came with my skates and they worked great. I eventually replaced them with boze abec 9 bearings. Mistake. Dont. They died quickly. I then used inline warehouse brand Swiss bearings. They've served me well so far. Worth the 60 bucks at this point.

I use my old soccer shin guards for shin guards also you just need long hockey socks to tuck them under or shorter socks work if you also wearing knee pads you can tuck the shin guard under the knee pad

Threadlocker is good tip. Realised that after I bought new wheels which had to be screwed lightly as otherwise they didn't spin well and my bolts kept getting too loose.

Try that same lacing but skip the very top hole, it locks your heel in better because you’re crossing over where the 45 strap would go!

You can clean the bearings with Petrol as well. Make sure to dry them properly before getting it in contact with any plastics.

Those erasers are also good for getting blood off of walls... 😬 But don't scrub too hard cuz the paint will come off in the end as well. Great video, some real interesting tips. I've certainly been lacking with some of these so a handy video for sure!

I only use gulf wax. They dont sell it here but Amazon does. You would probably die inside if you saw my laces. Im one of those tie a perma knot and never mess with them again.

Great video. Any tips for getting rid of wheel rattle? Every setup I’ve ever had has had at least one wheel that has some sideways movement even when fully tightened. No matter what frames/wheels/spacers/bearings. Drives me mad!

The plastic "insole" type thing under the liner is to protect the liner from the mounting hardware rubbing against the bottom just FYI, it's not meant to provide cushion.

I put my bearings in an ultrasonic cleaner. Once in a blue moon, I'll get a new bearing that feels defective. An ultrasonic cleaning session will bring that bearing back to life.

a really usefull lifehack for cleaning Bearings: take an ultrasonic cleaner, and put the bearings with the alcohol in it, you can clean all your bearings in 5min

What wrist guard are you using? I can never decide if wrist guards are helping or hurting but I'm a musician and can't really risk it. Anyway, another great vid.
